Very impressive and LOUD report if you are at a recreation area waiting for them to open up certain more snow laden runs, like the backside at stevens pass. They were there, im just guessing here, but I imagine that's a fairly well groomed ski park of some sort. So they do this pretty frequently, so you wouldn't get big avalanches. Because they keep knocking it lose before it can build up and do real damage when it breaks loose . But yeah, I was disappointed too.

Ballistic artillery might not have the precision that’s apparently needed here, and the charge being deployed looks rather larger than the explosive load of typical field artillery shells (105-155 mm).

I think detonations will weaken many big rocks, after many detonations. These huge rocks will eventually fall to the bottom of the mountain. Humans need to innovate softer methods to deal with avalanches.

It is only because of a few individuals who stuff themselves where they don't belong, just chasing a few photos, or proving that they were somewhere else than the others... Mountains were and always will be dangerous and that is why our ancestors learned to live in near them not on them!!!
