Suppose being so tall works against him because he makes saves look so easy. He had 5% more save percentage then Ramsdale. But apparently it’s embarrassing to say Popes a better keeper 😭

Completely understand where Reev is coming from on Ederson.
Last season had the league lowest ‘shots per 90’ at 1.84, but had the second worst save percentage at 50%. He went on a run at one point of in 9/15 games he played, he conceded a goal from the first shot on target.
Unbelievable with his feet, best in the world easily on the ball, but last year was pretty dreadful at shot stopping.
Was only last season though, every other year prior has been sensational.
Tbh the shots per 90 stat is useless for city because they defend so good. The save percentage is better but the sample size is probably the smallest out of all teams in the league and when city face a shot on goal its usually a 1v1 after a team hits them on a counter. I think he had a good year and didnt make many mistakes plus made some big saves in the champions league
He is pretty average when it comes to shot stopping, for me not even top ten in the prem. His feet is what makes him be talked about among the top in the world

City are a bit of an anomaly u see, pep is probably the most defensive coach in the world, as funny as that sounds. He controls games and wants his team to have 70+% possession in order to limit other teams’ opportunities to score. This paired with their world class midfield and defence kinda makes it so that ur lucky to see a team shoot more than 6 or 7 times against them, let alone get shots on target

Ter Stegen getting disrespected. This guy have been a top 3 goal keeper since Barca won the champions league in 2015. Hasn’t fallen off just stayed consistent and breaking records. Is phenomenal on his feet. And his 1v1 ability is only 2nd best to Nuer
Definitely not true, had a good year or 2 but prior to that he was in awful form. Genuinely didn’t scratch top 5 or 10 for a year probably. Although I would agree that he’s top 5 atm.

As a city fan I agree with Reev that Ederson isn’t as great of a shot stoppers as the rest of the keepers on the list but ederson is one of, if not the best, keeper with the ball at his feet. Ederson can also be prone to a mistake

There is a double edged sword with Ederson, yes he faces a low amount of chances compared to most and had a low save %. But the caviat to that is the reason that is is that when City concede chances, they usually concede very good chances

I just think Alisson is unreal he’s saved us more times than I can count extremely consistent and will get you a goal if you need it 😂 he does have a weakness he holds onto the ball too much in his box which gives the opposition enough time to fill the positions he wants to pass into
Not all these are shotstoppers, i agree with Reeve. You cant call a keeper for a ball playing keeper and a shotstopper. They all have traits and one thing they are specifically good at. There are a few world class goalkeepers that are both, but that is very few...

I’m ngl Emerson low-key might be the Harry maguire of goalkeeping, a system player, for Man City sure he works for them but put him in a bottom half of the table team and he’s conceding goals left right and centre, usually bottom half of the table keepers end up with a lot of saves come the end of the season but i don’t think Emerson would get near the average for saves in a season at one of those clubs

no no no wrong about Ederson, saved us so so so many times last season. His shot stopping is SOOOO underrated. He can have the odd game where he looses his concentration. but the way he can create a separate angle, can play line splitting passes, creates an extra option, so fast off his line, some of the fastest reactions

Reev is being way too harsh on ederson, he's an incredible goalkeeper. Reev is seriously overestimating how many mistakes ederson makes because it really is no more than the next ball-playing GK.
It's not so much the mistakes, it's his shot stopping. Because last season I recall he had one if the worst save rates in the prem.
