What do you do if you lose the key to your front door?
Use a spare! (though you can't break the door down, so to speak, if you don't have a spare key)
What's the diff between this and using 2FA using authy etc?
There are a few different ways to use 2FA
SMS = Bad. Can be impersonated, sim swap etc. Unlikely but possible.
Authy is an App that generates codes for you = better than SMS. Some password managers also can store and generate these 2FA codes but some might argue it's stupid to have them in the same place.
Yubikey is something that you, and only you hold.
@@PeteMatheson I see. It reminds me of the bank card readers. Only you hold the key as it works with your bank card. Yes, OTA but concept similar.

Go old school. Create another account. Update all your IMPORTANT accounts (banking, subscriptions, anything related to money,) with that new information, and delete/scrub your old stuff totally. Sometimes you're gonna have to call some of those companies and explain what's going on, verify your identity, and go from there when it comes to updating your new information. If I got hacked, legitimately, that's what I'd do.
Right now, I've got some monitoring things saying my data has been exposed. So, instead of doing what I told you above, I'm currently updating all my passwords, and placing freezes on things. And in the future, with enough time, imma do a scrub. But right now, I'm gonna be lazy, and just tighten my stuff up. If I keep getting notifications, bye-bye to all my old accounts.
