    • @5Ring
      @5Ring 3 месяца назад +20

      @@steveh5307 9mm Shield 2.0 is far larger. Watch the size-comparison videos. 380 is more expensive yes, but the difference for CCW (under 10yrds) is too small to sacrifice the concealability, and I'm a 9mm guy. I have 12 9mm pistols and just one .380. I live in Florida where it's hotter than Hades eight months a year. T-Shirt, shorts and flip flops are the norm. You'll find my Taurus Spectrum .380 in my waistband most days, though I have far more 9mm options. Small, thin and easily concealed (29-year LEO and former Marine).

    As someone who finds himself defaulting to pocket carry out of sheer comfort, I first owned an LCP, then a BG 1, and only ever shot them to stay familiar or test various ammo. Then they'd go back into the holster, and I'd shoot something else more enjoyable. What lead me to purchase a 2.0 was the significant increase in capacity, with very minor increases to overall size. When I held it in the store, I honestly couldn't believe what S&W accomplished, and that's before I shot it. It's an absolute joy to shoot. The snappiness of the original is basically gone, and the recoil is "comfortable"? I would have switched because of the ammo+size on it's own, but actually liking this thing really elevates the value of this firearm.

    I’ve been using a bersa thunder 380 for close to 25 years I think. Went in to buy a walther, tried it on the range, wouldn’t run hollow points and it slide bite was something nobody warned me about, tried the Bersa, it was lighter, had a beaver tail, ran hollow points, and was a fraction of the price. If I remember it was under $200 and I think the walther was above $600. It as not as pretty but at the time in the 90’s there weren’t very many small ccw guns. I’ve still got it, thousands of rounds later, a few upgrades, it definitely has some wear and tear from use and carrying, I still feel like James Bond, especially when I carry it in my shoulder holster lol. It’s not my main carry of course, I’ve got the 365xl, p-01, I even carry my wife’s lcp max sometimes. I work in the gun industry so the been able to try almost every gun, and I’d still say that the bersa is great gun for those sensitive to recoil, or want a da/sa subcompact/pocket pistol. It easy to run the slide especially if you cock the hammer first and while the da trigger is a little heavy it breaks in to a very smooth pull and even brand new the da trigger is very good, there are some good upgrades options on the market. The aluminum frame is light without being too light.

    I got one of this little Bodyguard 2.0 also. First of all, both front and rear sights were off from factory. After little adjustment and close to 2000 rounds, it doesn’t like round noise flat point ammo which jams a lot. No any issues with standard ball ammo. It is very accurate for the size of the gun. Managing 10" grouping at 25 yards with 34 rounds. I did smooth out the beaver tail because I got blisters from the first 200 rounds. Other than that, it is a solid gun. It shoot very flat with little recoil. After around 1000 rounds, trigger pull weight drops to 3-1/2 lbs.
    Wish S&W would make a 9mm version of this by increasing the overall length 1/4" or so for the longer 9mm. 😊

      One person with LCP Max tried it and decided to buy it. See recent thread on Gundeals subreddit. The trigger guard cut should give one more room to get all fingers on it than LCP Max. The beavertail provide lower bore axis so should have less muzzle snap. I have an LCP Max but plan to rent a Bodyguard 2.0 and potentially but one next year for pocket carry. Come September I will go back to carrying a 9mm once I am done pocket carrying in my summer shorts.

      Great gun, I always bring one along when friends are checking out carry guns. I have them shoot a compact gun, then the G26, then a micro compact (generally a shield plus). Most are shocked how little recoil the G26 has.
      I don’t carry it because I practice a lot with the shield plus and don’t want to risk even the slight chance of printing in the area I live in with a t shirt on. If I lived in a less leftist place, I’d probably carry a bigger gun.

I've watched your videos on the best pistols in certain price ranges. I'm so glad you've done a video on this gun because I've seen other videos about it and I'm interested in it. I look forward to seeing your more in depth review of it.

    I've had a S&W M&P Bodyguard for several years. Love its concealability and the fact it has a thumb safety, good sights and last round slide lock. Downsides are double action, heavy trigger pull and thumb safety hard to switch on or off, and handgrip too narrow for my hands. Solved that problem with a Hogue handgrip sleeve and a trigger guard Armalaser green laser for nighttime. The new Bodyguard 2 looks very appealing to me, expecially being a slightly wider grip, no need to add a Hogue grip to it. Also, the ambidextrous thumb safety looks easier to use than the original Bodyguard. RUclips videos testing the new 2.0 pistol in the field appear to have less kickback than the original Bodyguard and accuracy is very acceptable. I really like the striker fire too instead of hammer fire, for a lighter trigger pull. Price at $449 is reasonable but I'm sure once production gets going, the price will come down. Since I always pocket carry, this will be a direct replacement for my current Bodyguard. Now, if only Armalaser will make a trigger guard green laser for this model 2.0 and Uncle Mikes makes a pocket holster for it to accommodate an Armalaser trigger guard laser, that will be ideal.

      Original bodyguard has been my EDC since 2015. And I kinda hate it. The DA and trigger pull weight is just too much for me. But it shoots well inside 10 yds, super light and consealable for IWB on a smaller guy, so I've stuck with it.
      But, I've practically already made the decision to switch to one model or other of a P365.
      This vid of the 2.0 makes me think maybe I really can stick with the smaller EDC, since trigger pull and mag capacity are my two biggest complaints.
      Gonna head to the range as soon as they have the 2.0 available to demo.

    • @utubetommy
      @utubetommy 3 месяца назад +1

      @@fresso92 I have a Sig P365. I like it because it's pocket concealable but definitely heavier than my Bodyguard so I still carry my BG at present. Another thing to consider is if you don't have strong hands, you'll find it difficult to "top off" a 12 round double stack mag unless you purchase a mag loader like I did for the P365. One RUclips reviewer of the Bodyguard 2.0 commented the same thing about the double stack 12 round mag and the difficulty of topping one off. I don't know if they make a mag loader for the 2.0 mags because the Bodyguard 2.0 is so new. But if there is one available, I suggest you get one if you buy either the P365 or the BG 2.0. Another suggestion is to buy an ArmaLaser green trigger guard laser if you purchase a P365 ($150). It's "instant on" with no buttons to push and really illuminates things in the dark. I have one for both my std P365 and for my Bodyguard. Love 'em for night carry or home use. Both P365 and Bodyguard 2.0 are striker fired with half the trigger pull of a double action original Bodyguard. So all of this is food for thought that might be good to know.

Mag fell out twice due to lack of texture, fixed with Talon grips, extra power mag release spring and filing down the mag release. Got 200+ FMJ and 25+ Hornday CD with no issue. There are a lot of shooters that a 380 is about their max for recoil. Having Mrs. Outlaw and Stephanie demonstrate the gun? Two thumbs up! This is good because it lets women get a sense of the gun vs the big man, Chris. Nice contrast. They did well with it. I might let my wife find out about this gun. She took my G43X and likes it, does well with it, so I might leave things alone there. (long story of "I married a liberal" anti-gunner who is now a Patriotic savage conservative and gun carrier and her road down learning about, firing guns, training, license certification, and carrying daily). I see Smith selling a lot of these. As anyone's deep cover option, this gun can function there. Good video guys!

We could not have been farther apart ideologically. Really, it was an entire educational experience for her. Being all over the world, seeing / experiencing the third world, opened her eyes. Bought one. Echo what Chris experienced. I hate micro .380’s, but the Bodyguard 2.0 feels great in the hand and is the first micro .380 I can shoot accurately and consistently. Now the reality at the range - all I had was Fiocchi FMJ. First 2 mags had 5 failures to feed. Smacked the slide closed and fired fine. Next 2 mags had another 4 FT feed. Both mags. Last 4 mags had only 1 and last 3 mags ran flawless. Most likely an ammo or break-in issue. Also, you’ll need a mag loader to get the last 2 rounds in the mags. Impossible with fingers. Leaving the mags fully loaded will hopefully break the slings in a bit. Very hard to get a full mag into pistol with slide closed. Overall, though, I have a positive impression. Getting some different ammo and defensive rounds to fully prove this little pistol.

    Just got mine a week ago. Couple observations… She’s super tight. Slide lock/release is a bear. Obviously will work its way out with more rounds down range. Love the grip texture and memory pad. Shoots well, considering how small it is. Winchester white box - flat nose shoots well. Fiocchi range dynamics will not feed/cycle. I don’t know if my chamber is super tight? The overall length is longer on the Fiocchi. I resized the Fiocchi to approximately .01 less. Runs fine now. No problems with hollow points (federal punch and Hornady American gunner). Will need to shoot more before I carry it.
