Phil & Harv - Darling - Year still under debate

- Killer west coast tune here. I originally had this listed as a 1965 release, but looking over the martix numbers, I don't think this is correct. There is some confusion as there is a copyright entry for this in 1964 but the matrix numbers suggest this may have been issued as early as 1961. If anybody knows for sure feel free to correct me.
I am one of The Blossoms on this recording…A friend of mine called me one day and asked if that was us on the background and I told him that I would have to hear the song….he played it and I said that’s us! Can’t tell you where or when we recorded this! We could have overdubbed! I can’t remember, because we were recording all the time! I love this song ❤
This is a classic I use to listen to it over and over. I still like it but I'm trying to move on now. Unfortunately I'm a widow now. They still in my heart always will be and someday I will see them again in heaven but we will be brother and sister. There are no marriages in heaven. It's a blessing to be married.
I am sorry that you lost your husband. I am going on the 11th year of my husband's death: 11/19/22. You will always remember. I could't get past it for !st year 1/2. He was a lot older than me. He remembered a lot of doowop that I wasn't old enough to remember. I hope you can enjoy this music that is beautiful and helpful in that it feels good. I met someone that is like an "almost" boyfriend, which brought me out of my grief. And I prayed a lot & keep praying bc God is always the answer. God bless you.
your comment made me tear up. i hope you’re doing okay
😥❤
Why is there debate as to its release date? The record was released in the spring of 1961. Our family owned a record store from the late 50's into the mid 70's. This record came into the store in the summer of 1961. The store sold quite a few copies. The singers are Phillip Tucker and Willis Junior Harvey of the Mixtures. Eddie Davis hired studio musicians to play and did not use The Mixtures band. The Blossoms are doing the backup vocals
That is so cool . Your the go too person. Man the blossoms seem to be on everything released in the sixties love them. Darlene was the bomb
Where was your record store located?
@@805_SpeakeasyBarberDude, record store probably isn't there anymore 😅
I have been searching for this song for years!!!! I first found it on an old cassette tape given to me with alot of obscure doo wop but never, knew the title or artist.. I always assumed it was late 50s or early 60s definitely knew it was west coast. Thanks Pj always great to, know, theres people that care for this music and love it just as much , if not more than I do!! Cheers
These dudes are from Oxnard Calif...

Such a great song
A good song Mr DJ!
SUPER DOO WOP BALLAD KILLER !!! THANKS MY FRIEND.
PJ , ,, Since this IS a west coast record , may I safely guess that this "RAMPART" label is the same label that in the 80's was putting out 12 inch splatter color disco singles of "SALSA" disco ?? if it is , I USED to be a distributor for that label when it was owned by EDDIE DAVIS in L.A. Unfortunately , the whole company closed down somewhere in the mid 80's . But I DID end up getting some pressing plates ,(the negatives) from which the master plates are made and a stack of splatter color
So beautiful ♥️
Terrific, you've done it again!!

Why is this song not on ITunes ???
That’s what I was wondering, I couldn’t find it either. 🤷🏻♀️
@@naomilopez4219 that song and Garth Brooks Friends in low places...somebody else sings it. Not a Country music fan....but that’s the one song I like.
@@andysanchez634
I’m not a country music fan either, but yeah I’ve heard that song at someone’s house. I wish ITunes had Darling so I can put it on my playlist.
ITunes sucks. It doesn't give you true underground sounds like this one.
Not in Spotify neither :(
Is this available on Apple Music ?
PJ DooWoP..keeps pulling them out of a hat...terrific oldie.
I posted the answer to the question of the year of this record twice yesterday and both have disappeared. What am I doing wrong?
How's the debate coming along?
Why won't you listen to this song? Think it over ok?
