  • Demonstrators took to the streets of San Francisco to demand action on climate change and other environmental issues on Friday, ahead of Earth Day on April 22.
    Chanting "Rise up, get down - the people's movement is in town," demonstrators carried a banner reading: "Youth vs. Apocalypse" as they made their way through the city. The crowd of roughly 100 people then paused to listen to remarks from fellow activists and to watch a dance performance.
    Meanwhile, in London, England, protesters staged a “die-in” in on Earth Day, which is Saturday.
    The "die-in" was part of a four-day campaign, organized by Extinction Rebellion, dubbed the “Big One,” according to event information.
    According to Extinction Rebellion, the event was supported by more than 200 other organizations and companies, including Greenpeace, Patagonia, NHS Staff Voices, Mothers Rise Up, Welsh Rivers Union, and more.
    Volunteers in dozens of countries were set to plant trees, clean up trash and urge governments to do more to combat climate change to mark Earth Day, as scientists warn of more extreme weather and record temperatures this year.

      plates move around all the time. Within 5 million years huge mountain ranges come and go, continents move all over the earth in a "relatively" short period of time, over less than tens of millions of years.
      No continent is the same shape or in the same place as it was in the time of the dinosaurs. The highest mountains of today are still several generations of mountains after those of the dinosaur age, which again, was 1/4 of a billion years long....
      Humans have only been here for a few hundred thousand years at best....

      Evolution offers humanity a future as dirt,
      why would anyone want to see that proven true?
      God does not owe us any more evidence.
      He demonstrated his creative power and genius to all mankind by making this gigantic planet full of amazing creatures on which he has placed us. We live here with the clear knowledge that our stay is temporary.
      Also,
      No one is wondering what God requires from us. He requires us to do what is right.
      He placed a conscience in our minds which clearly warns us before we take wicked actions/make selfish choices.
      He offers us mercy for sins(the times when we have violated that conscience.)
      Surrender while you can.

      @MisterHowzat 6 месяцев назад

      @@aryandixit229 Pollute? Who's talking about pollution? The issue here is carbon dioxide, not pollution. And even if the per capita "pollution" level is lower in India, that doesn't mean a thing. It's not per capita that matters but the percentage contribution to worldwide emissions that matters. India and China contribute a huge chunk of carbon dioxide emissions, never mind "per capita", and their emissions are increasing as per their Paris Accord statements.

    • @aryandixit229
      @aryandixit229 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@MisterHowzat Agreed, but developing countries have many challenges that make it harder. It is difficult to industrialize and reduce emissions simultaneously. I am pretty sure that the US total emissions are also still more though based on the data I’ve seen.

      @@hosnimubarak8869Nope. The earth has gone through warmer periods. Ice core data and tree ring data show higher temperatures in the past. And it had nothing to do with CO2.
      By the way, I don't know where you got your data from, but the average global surface temperature has been pretty constant the past 20+ years. And some measurements even show a slight cooling. One thing's for certain: there's no catastrophic rise in temperature, the earth is not burning up. All these alarming pronouncements have been proven false time and again in the past.

      In that same time the average global temperature on Earth has increased by about 0.8° Celsius (1.4° Fahrenheit) since 1880. Two-thirds of the warming has occurred since 1975, at a rate of roughly 0.15-0.20°C per decade. This rate of recent warming is 10x that of the gradual warming that ended the last glacial period.
