90s video game commercials were the best! Rather than just cutscenes and clips of gameplay like in current video game commercials, back then they had to rely on creativity and doing fun stuff like this!
This is my favorite Nintendo commercial of all time! Thank you Nintendo and The Cartoons (group that originally did the song) for teaming up to do this commercial.
@@rjd1922 David Seville was just a stage name, that was Ross Bagdasarian Jr, who is most onion for creating Alvin and the Chipmunks, in which he used the song "Witch Doctor" for.
My favorite old-school Nintendo commercial of all-time. In fact if I can remember, I think this particular commercial got me interested to play the game Dr. Mario, and also made me love this song as well. I miss my nostalgic years soooooooooooooo much.
Lyrics: I called the Witch Doctor. He told me what to do. He said: oo ee oo ah-ah ting tang walla walla bing bang. (That means: play Doctor Mario on Gameboy or NES) Ting tang walla walla bing bang. I beat the Witch Doctor and this is what he said. He said: oo! (oo!) ee! (ee!) oo! ah-ah! ting tang walla walla bing bang. oo ee oo ah-ah, and then he shrunk my head.
Actually it's just what animators call a "smear frame", used to give more life to the animation by simulating a sharp movement on a single frame. However this one is not very well executed and gives, indeed, the impression that the thermometer becomes a spear.
I remember seeing this commercial quite a bit while watching the CBS Saturday Morning cartoon block as a kid. I'm 32 years old now and this damn ad STILL sticks in my head. As for the game, I love it. Who cares if it has a similar game mechanic to Tetris, killing those viruses is so much fun!
I remember watching this commercial and every time it was on me and my brothers used to put the volume sky high and we danced to it... Plus this commercial was in the 90s and Mario is still around after so many years and Mars not just around you can say he's still in his prime because Nintendo Wii is very successful plus the addition with Mario party and they're coming out with a brand new movie..... And after watching this commercial.. I think the '90s will be the last great decade... Football was awesome back then and if you bought the super Nintendo or had a NES... If you're having trouble with your console we didn't have a number to call but instead we would have to fix the console in games... I remember playing mega Man and I will always have to blow in the cartridge and always kept hitting the power button until it finally works... I also even miss renting video games from a video and usually it'll give you 3 days to play it and there were times where I did beat the game but other times like playing Chrono trigger but I consider to be one of the greatest games ever made and the best game in the super Nintendo library.. then at a very close the second best game is final fantasy 6 for but the actual title was called fantasy 3... We didn't have RUclips or Internet to look up if you were stuck at a certain part of a certain game that we would have to figure out ourselves... Also that I think it was 94 when the internet came out and the late 90s we had cell phones that we can only do two things of talking on the phone and text messaging... Now I do favor technology when it comes to the military because it can save soldiers lives or in the medical field that high technology could also save lives but when it comes to social media... I'm against it because it makes people take branded for other people... We didn't have Facebook where we can just look at the other person's profile and see how they're doing back then if you wanted to see a friend or old girlfriend and when you finally meet them you appreciate then because you don't see them everyday... Or when you go to a dance.. you couldn't text message then to ask for a dance.. you need to grow some balls or some guts to do that and remember the landlines? I can tell you how many fights that me and my brother had because we both had girlfriends and the landline was the only way to talk to them rather than do it in person... And let's say you had a crush on a certain person you get so nervous that you're calling the house maybe a parent picks up and you get all nervous..... Or if you wanted to hear a certain song you had to go to the music store and buy a CD or a cassette for your boombox.... Man I do miss those days and now with social media like I said and Facebook and Twitter and Instagram.. I think it does a lot of harm to our society.. we have never seen a society that are so distant from each other... And this commercial made me realize everything I just said and I'm sorry that maybe I made a bigger deal than it is and it's just a 90s commercial but for those who lived in the 90s understands what I'm talking about
I remember back then a lot of kids were afraid of going to the doctor. Maybe they didn't want to hammer the doctor's office part in the commercial too hard. Just a thought
I like the other one with the redhead girl; however, the comments are turned off on most videos of it because kids appear in it. Jesus Christ, most gamers aren't creeps... oh wait...
This commercial is extremely racist and I love it. Back then we would see this ridiculous commercial and laugh it off. 1 minute later we were back on Looney Tunes and hopefully getting Dr Mario for birthday or Christmas or just because we asked for it.
It’s so wild how video game ads used to have NOTHING to do with the games they were advertising.
Witch doctor
Kinda like ads for mobile games today.

It barely shows the game, its just your nostalgia, the good ads should focus more on the game itself.
