- First up in the #GAAGloryDays series, it's Antrim’s incredible surprise victory over Leinster Champions Offaly by 4-15 to 1-15 in the 1989 All-Ireland Hurling Semi-Final!
It was a historic day for the Saffrons as Jim Nelson's men booked their place in the All-Ireland final! Relive this day with the GAANOW Rewind here! - Спорт
Some great fielding of the ball here. Clearly a lower general standard than what we see today but mighty tough men on display.
What a team
remember it well. historic day for the`` Glens``
Back when hurlers played for the jersey whether it was club or county. Honest hard men who could take a slap and play on. The last generation is completely f**ked. Not as many big families as there used to be back in them days especially for starters. Technology and social media are also factors. You might get a very skilful hurler who has a bad game because the ball isn't played where they want it to be played but that player might put a post on Instagram to see how many likes they get. Fitness is another matter. Fitness down in the south shouldn't be a problem because they're taught at a very young age with stick work and speed. Back in them days it was 15 on 15. No tactics whatsoever. Hopefully Antrim stay up this year
Crowds turning up to games has also massively gone downhill
