how to remove a broken tap from a hole,
how to remove a broken tap bit,
how to remove a broken tap from steel,
remove broken tap from hole by drilling tap out with a masonry bit sharpened to form a spade drill
do not damage hole by placing guide plate on top to guide drill in location
this is a 1/4-20 HSS tap and a 3/16 masonry bit

that was awesome, thanks for showing that, i had no idea a masonry bit could do that, ive never seen that done ever! i really appreciate the knowledge, thats so cool you decided to share that! that is why i love you tube so much!
hi mike
Thank you for the nice comment and thank you for taking the time to comment. It is much appreciated.
Ray
I just made a masonry bit into a spade bit and I was able to drill out a broken 10-24 tap. Thanks for sharing the info!
10/32 Is way too small for my eyes
How did I not know about this channel ??? You have won my subscription.......
thank you

This works because of the carbide tip. An old carbide endmill works good too.
yes
Pretty cool! I suck at removing taps and bolts. This actually will make it easier. Thanks
Very clever, thanks for sharing.

Where is the Masonary bit sharpening video
ruclips.net/video/dWEN_MxhGqQ/видео.html
This is the video that I show how to sharpen the bit
You can also see how to sharpen a bit on drilling hardened steel with a hand drill
I bet you would normally weld a nut to that tip that was left. If it's broken deep down with nothing sticking up. Yeah, your way worked.
Never used a spade carbide to do this job. Left handed drill bits are my favorite but not for a broken tap!!
Well done man. Yes I'm subscribed and liked
I never explain this in the beginning of the video
I have access to all of the fancy equipment to fix almost any problem
A friend of mine said I need to make videos where I don’t have any equipment at all so that the Home guy can do some of the things that I’m doing with expensive machinery
That’s why I didn’t use the CNC to drill the Hole and that’s also why am using a re-sharpened concrete drill
Thank you for watching and subscribing

Usually you weld to a tap and they shatter as soon as you touch them. Sometimes you can do it with a tig welder but usually still doesn’t work
@@kylebrown8891 correct, almost impossible to weld to a tap, especially in a hard- to- reach spot on an engine block still in the vehicle, don't ask me how I know.
Love the slow motion top snap
its the best part of the video
I like this as well
yes this might be what you need to do if you snap a real quality tap in there...
however any good 135d cobalt drill bit would work just fine if it was Chinesium taps.
There are never perfect conditions like this where u can use drill press
Most of the time its in awkward places where you can't get.
Show me video like this and I'll be impressed.
Be prepared to be impressed
I made that video about a year ago it needs some tweaking and better explanation

But! How did you grind the masonry bit? John from Oz
ruclips.net/video/dWEN_MxhGqQ/видео.html
Good Job!.
what size is the tap?
1/4-20
Helpful!
I’m glad you found it helpful.
Thanks for taking the time to comment. It’s much appreciated.

I wish it was this simple to get them out a aluminum cyclinder head 🤦🏾♂️
It Can be
Do you have the hole positions for the other cylinder bolts?
I have Done this on motorcycle cylinders
I used a 1 inch thick guide plate
Drilled out the studs, and then used a helacoil
👍🏻
Yikes. I actually cringed when you smacked that tap with the hammer.
it was a little over the top
I tried to brake the tap in the drillpress but it would not brake
Ray
Why did you go with 3100RPM at first then slow down? what was the second RPM? Good post, the second plate used as a Jig is tits!
Mark Stark
I’m not exactly sure what the second RPM was I slowed it down because the tool bit was not biting enough
Without the second plate it would be extremely difficult to do proper location because the hard tap would make the drill deflect into softer material
Thanks for the comments
Ray
@@shopandmath Thanks for the reply, I really liked your video. It was informative and I will be using the "Jig Plate Trick" some time!
Fact: {A}
A "center drill" is "only" used to drill a hole in bar stock being held in place by the "Lathe Tailstock".
If a "center drill" breaks that section is scrap.
Fact: {B}
For all other operations on a 'lathe' or 'mill' a spot drill is used.
Fact: {C}
For the past (50) years and I have used this below procedure.

Hi I do not understand the question
Ray
you could burn it out on a EDM drill and send it!
Contact me if you need a drill
