  • Moceanu was one of the first gymnasts to accuse famed U.S. coaches Bela and Marta Karolyi of verbal and psychological abuse. She says the goal at her own gym is to create and environment where students can work hard but also have fun.

I am just becoming aware of how abundant the abuses have been on these poor young girls. It is totally disgusting how the machines of this sport have been raking in the cash on the backs of these girls and young ladies dreams. Dominique thank you for providing the girls with a safe place they can learn while not giving up who they are. Many blessings to you!!!

I would love to see Dominique and Nadia share about their experiences. How crazy to realize Nadia was training under communist rule, yet Dominique was subjected to the same standards in the “land of the free.” Don’t forget, we Americans cheered for her as well as her coaches. Why??? Because they made America global champions. Think about THAT. But who sacrificed the most, however????

its usually the situation that keeps them silent. they know if they say anything, its not just the people that will listen, is everything else happening around them that will stop.

I’m not putting my children anywhere near gymnastics..my parents never encouraged me to do gymnastics because they don’t like it. It’s not a great sport. Risk having an eating disorder or “tainted” mental health. Corruption at its best.

Abusive coaching in the 90s doesn't mean it's not a great sport. Kids can have "tainted" (a terrible term) mental health just by existing on social media these days. Anything you think you're protecting them from by keeping them away from gymnastics is possible in many areas of life. Instead of putting your head in the sand, how about trying to make anything they might be interested in as ethical as possible? Learn who your children are, don't tell them who they are.

@@KaiOpakait’s a pretty terrible sport if you get serious about it. It’s fine if it’s for fun but once it gets really competitive it’s pretty toxic

Who gives a shit how many medals, are medals somehow an excuse to overlook the abuse?

Dominique is over collecting medals whether hers or from her girls. She doesn’t want to put her own gymnasts through that. Are you not even listening to this video?
