    I would recommend mounting the relay up where it’s dry. My 2021 grizzly xtr came with a factory warn winch and the relay lasted 3 seasons before one of the contact magnets inside corroded and wouldn’t work. I took it apart and lubed/freed up the electro magnet but wouldn’t have had to do that if it was up where it’s dry

      Thanks for the solid advice. I highly considered that prior to installing the winch the way it sits. I think the biggest reason why I went with the way I mounted the winch was primarily due to the fact that living in a desert environment, encountering water is highly unlikely. The little bit of water I do encounter is rarely above 6 inches.
      It still isn’t a bad idea to consider moving it up due to the fact that it is vulnerable to a lot of excessive dust to cake and build around those sensitive areas. Thanks man.

    Good video! Looks like your winch is flipped around though. Needs to be rotated 180°. Currently the cable is coming off of the top if the spool, but it should be coming off of the bottom of the spool. Cable should always "99% of the time" come out between the spool and the mounting surface of the winch. This will also ensure that the cable is coming out directly into the fairlead, and not pulling against one of the rollers before going straight out like it is now. Check out the manual and you can see the freespool knob should be on the other side. Hope this helps!

      Hey there. Thanks for pointing that out on the winch. This is the first KFI winch I have ever owned and the 1st winch I have seen set up this way. I will have to fix that. I thought to myself man that is a lot of pressure on the rollers and pin across the top of the winch. KFI had to have rolled it up backwards since it is brand new and I know that I didn’t switch it. I honestly appreciate your feedback and attention to this. Thanks for watching man.

    Thanks for a good explanation. It's a bit of work though. I would switched out the wire and put on rope, but I guess you doesn't need the winch as much as we who plows a lot 😎

    • @ManzanoManATVAdventures
      @ManzanoManATVAdventures  Год назад +1

      I have heard good things about running a synthetic rope instead of a cable. You use your winch often throughout the snowy season. Thanks for watching.

    • @ArcticExploring
      @ArcticExploring Год назад

      @@ManzanoManATVAdventures The main reason why I switched to rope is because if it snap it will just fall down, while wire will come flying and can hit you. That's why they hang something on the wire.

    Man this remind me of installing my plow after I had the bottom plate installed I realized I couldn’t change my oil , so pulled it off drilled a hole in it to do that .. got to think ahead of what they don’t think of … still want to ride and camp with ya buddy PNW 👍💣

      It is unfortunate they never seem to think about winches going into places where we need to access oil. It looks like I will be in the clear, but you never know until you actually get in there to do it. It would be cool to ride and camp man. Seriously it would be. Cheers.

    Great explanation! You're a little more comfortable cutting wires than I would have been haha. I guess with so much extra wire you kinda have to to clean it up a little.

    I hope you are Happy with your Grizzly. You should get years of reliable service from it. I have a 2020 grizzly and I really like it. When I bought mine the winch came installed from the factory. But not the newer models. If you are the type that does your own service on the atv, it is a bit of the pain due to the amount of stuff you have to remove to do the valve adjustment. But will save you lots of money. The only issue I’ve had with mine is the plastic cap on the end of the crank where you timing marks are located, was a bit loose and allowed some water to get in my oil. It is worth checking the tightness of that cap.

      I appreciate your comment and sharing your experience with your 2020. I don't mind working and servicing my own ATV. It will save a lot of money just as you mentioned. Good to know what I should be aware of or what to keep an eye on.
      I really enjoy my Yamaha and I have no doubt I will get years of reliable usage out of it. Thanks for watching!

    A few key things done wrong in this video, the winch is in backwards, the free spool should be on The left side of the bike.
    The main thing is bolting the winch to the mounting plate and then sliding the whole assembly and as one piece on this bike.
    Also, when wiring into the connection for accessory power, Yamaha provides an accessory pigtail for this very reason with the bike. If it's already being used for another accessory, you can purchase that same pigtail for around $5. Much cleaner and way better connection than any space you'll ever make.

    • @ManzanoManATVAdventures
      @ManzanoManATVAdventures  Год назад +1

      Thanks, I encourage you to make a video since it appears you understand better. I already fixed the spool based on another persons comment. I figured since the spool was already placed like this it was the way KFI intended this winch to work since no other winch I have bought never had the cable reversed. As for the plate. It would not fit in there as easy as you would think which is why I did it the way I did it and it worked out easy. The way I did it works for me with no issues and it wouldn’t steer others in a wrong direction either.

    • @claystockton4777

      Where is the Yamaha provided accessory pigtail located on the bike? Thanks!
