Despite some lack of detail and a couple of errors they actually build up to look pretty good. I've built 2 and next to the more modern version of a Mig29 kit they look fine.
This is good instruction for academy's old mig-29, great job
Thank you for the kind comments and that was my intention👍👍 Sorry for the late reply.
I am happy! When I built it years ago, I blamed myself for building it badly... I see that the kit is indeed badly manufactured by Academy. At the time, I finished it only because I already considered it a challenge 🤣🤣🤣.
Regards!!!
Yeah it is a bad kit by todays standard but no harm in saying i tried👍👍👍
Really great job. I will definatelly build my Mig-29 UB according your advice. Its a shame that its the only 1/48 UB on the market. I dont mind the age of this kit, the gaps or less detail. What I cant handle is the terrible shape inacuracy. The bad shape of the wing chines, the wierd bulbs on the top engine covers, the too narrow intakes. These are such visible errors for me. Once I saw them, I just cant unsee them. However, I will try to build it anyway because I like this aircraft and there is no other choice. I will try to fix what is possible from the errors I listed. It will be a real challenge. But that is modeling 😀 (also sorry for the bad grammar)
I have built this kit, well the single seater version, a number of times now and I have never come across this problem with the front underside or the intake/engine assembly. However, I initially spent a considerable amount (many hours) of dry fitting, taping and adding support shims for the front assembly. For the intakes, I worked from the back forward pinning and clamping to make sure the intakes not only fitted but had the correct geometry.
I liked the suggestion of the super glue "bath" and, though I did use super glue, I only beaded it along the joints as as a super glue/talcum power mix. Makes any sanding work a lot easier than just using super glue.
The drawbacks of the kit are cockpit, underwing armaments, and the exhaust. However, the GWH kits come with enough spare armaments and a resin seat along with exhausts does go a long way to making this kit look decent.
Finally, I am jealous of you as I have never been able to get my hands on the UB model. 😞
There's an... I think polish? ... company reboxing it and some Hasegawa kits. Hobby 2000, released with Czech and Slovak markings.
That was a excellent job on the Mig, it a shame that these modern kits have such fot issues, butvthat us life and these things have been sent to test us all, bext regards from a Kiwi living in Australia.
Thanks for the kind comments Les👍👍👍
It is a shame that the kit is so bad, but Academy have come a long way since then.
Glad you liked the video. All the best mate👍👍👍
Nice work mate.
Cheers buddy👍👍👍
...дааааа-такого уровня модель,что требует множества адэкватных решений.....
Thank you for the comment, there are many multiple of ways to put a kit together, wish I had learnt that earlier in my hobby🤣🤣👍👍👍
This kit is 30 years old now, not sure why people think its a modern kit. these kind of joints seem par for the course when you are reaching back that far
Sorry for the late reply.
Yeah this kit is old and might be a bit crap, but its the only twin seater for the Mig-29 in 48th. So unless you can print a new one this is all we got. And the point of the video was to motivate people to build a kit that others may have said it is unbuildable, but is one that can. That was the motivation of this video, sorry it got lost in translation.
@@frontlinemodelhobbies653 don't disagree mate, have 2 of the academy mig29, including the U B in the pile myself ;)
I recently bought the hobby 2000 mig29 and i think its a re-box of this one as a beginner I’m very afraid
One of the few kits that I’ve thrown away in disgust. Mind you, it was sone years ago and I take into account what you’ve done. I’m also surprised that Academy’s quality control leaves something to be desired.
Nice work though mate.
Thank you so much for the kind comments👍👍👍
Does make me think that they had no modellers building this one to see if the fit is bad.
Be nice to see if anyone has another challenger of a kit that I could put together and see if we can make it fit together🤔
@@frontlinemodelhobbies653 try Special Hobby’s 1/48th Spitfire VC. Good luck with that one!
Challenge accepted, when I can get a hold of it👍👍👍
@@frontlinemodelhobbies653 good luck. It all goes swimmingly until you put it together!
leave the dead horse dead. move on to something greater like the GWH kit.
Only problem GWH don’t do a 2 seat version, and the whole idea of the video was to pick a kit, doesn’t matter which of the bad kits out there and have a go. So the moral of the story is, doesn’t matter how bad a kit you have, you can push through or think out of the box to problems.
@@frontlinemodelhobbies653 the moral of the story is stop wasting your hard cash and precious time on garbage kit.
Such a shit attitude "buy the best kit on the market and nothing else". You can find these things getting around for 25 dollars compared to the 120 for any pf the GWH kits. Let people challenge themselves and do what makes them happy.
@@bushyfromoz8834 building any kit is already a challenge and be happy. building the mig 29, when done, you would want a beautiful model on your shelf. this kit just cannot compare to the GW kit. i want a model on display that is worth my effort.
Unless something has changed that I've missed, the Academy kit is the only Mig29 UB in 1/48 scale, so your idea of comparing it to a GW kit is rather pointless.
