One of the last true free lifestyles! The boat wants to go to great barrier island, screw it, we'll go to great barrier island and hang out for a bit. I love it!!
Great episode, I well remember the anxiety around when to drop the sails. At 70, I'm going back to sea with my now disabled wife and much of it is your fault, thank you so much! Enjoy "The Barrier" it's a special place.
Farmers complain about no rain...or too much rain, bankers about interest rates too high or not high enough, gamblers about their luck but saillors got their issues with wind...too little too much ...Barry, I;m amazed that you have as much hair as you have, your patience is of biblical magnatude. Sail on Sail on Sailor !!
You made a good choice Barry. I love Great Barrier Island. It’s my most favourite place in the whole world and you can live there too. I hope you enjoyed anchoring there as much as I have. The girls voices are just the usual hallucination so don’t panic. Great to see you sailing again…….!!
Another fantastical trip. I love the adventures and I try watching all. You bring joy and excitement to this 85 year old. I have traveled all my life in and out of the military but not out on the water. My prayers are with you. Greetings again from Indianapolis Indiana 🇺🇸.
Barry, after completing a five-year East coast US live-aboard adventure (Maine to the Bahamas) I started looking for a good RUclips sailing channel done by someone who is more into sailing and "boat stuff" than bikinis and beer. I am so glad I discovered your channel. Being of senior vintage myself I find your narration and stories immensely entertaining, intelligent and interesting. To live on a sailboat you have to be part hermit, part inventor, part dare devil and mostly out of your mind. In a good way. You are all of these things and a great film maker to boot. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us armchair adventurers.
Your sailing channel is by far one of the most authentic and interesting ones on RUclips. You show cruising, how it really is, I enjoy every episode! 👍 Fair winds 🌊⛵🌞
If you tear out fabric tarp or sail, a good emergency fix is it to trap a golf ball or round stone inside the fabric with a rope loop. I use this on big tarps. Never pulls out. Have even used a frozen potatoe in a pinch. Might save your butt on a long passage.
Oh Barry, leaving your anchorage with the ensign furled round the backstay. Moaning about dropping sails when you have a roller reefing jib, lazyjacks to catch the dropped main, life couldn’t be easier. Use the idle no wind conditions to tidy up your boat!!!!!
Barry, now that youre at sea again, please be on the lookout for Wilson. He'll be out there, somewhere. May have even grown some, bit taller, maybe. Surely he'll be on the lookout for you and Shaddy!
Please don’t get rid of your boat Barry. You have too many great memories with her and plenty more adventures to come. Life is one big adventure. Always look forward.👍🏻
Every time I watch your videos I daydream about being out on the boat with you even thou I can’t swim and sink like a rock. The thought of getting far far away from the United States whether on a space station or a boat in the middle of the ocean seems like heaven on earth. Thanks for making me dream.
Captain Barry, you've posted another wonderful video that shows all of us who would simply love to be in the Helmsman's seat, but for life's obligations cannot, the real side of Solo Sailing without all the glam and glitter as often seen on other "Yachtie's" adventure postings .. Captain, you're keeping it real and we thank you .. Stay well, and Thank You !
I am telling you, is not a punishment to stay longer on your last stop, what a magnificent anchorage I will stay there for a week 🙂. Thanks for sharing, cheers from Tasmania
Great to see you underway again, Barry! There are new sights to see and you won't see them anchored in one place. Great Barrier Island looks amazing! FW&FS
Hope you had a chance to check out smokehouse Bay, pity I never got to teach you about lure fishing Barry. You can be 30 metres from an island there in 30 metres of water
Have enjoyed your videos since episode 1. I like the names for all your friends...the vane, the dinghy, the outboard, birds that land on the boat....you need a "Wilson" aboard.
In the Coast Guard at the discretion of the Officer In Charge while underway we had a 2 beer limit also. I guess the British Rescue Service does as well. It doesn't do much at the end of the day but you would be surprised how much it does do. I could live on a 2 beer limit.
I've slowly warmed up to your videos and I now think you've made one of the best sailing channels on RUclips. I came here to say that and low and behold I see that Patrick Laine just left you a message. I love his channel too! Anyway, thanks for sharing your adventures to a land bound sailor...

I’m sailing solo also, and when I’m not feeling comfortable I watch you. I’m
Back. Your my hero. 😘
From a brother of the Sea of45 years, and new subscriber from Canada 🇨🇦. Just sold my boat of 35 years, now a landlubber.
Great episode, I well remember the anxiety around when to drop the sails. At 70, I'm going back to sea with my now disabled wife and much of it is your fault, thank you so much! Enjoy "The Barrier" it's a special place.
Great episode Barry. That anchorage looks like a location in a high budget Hollywood film. Bravo.
Hi Patrick, also love your work. Cheers, Barry
My two favorite mariners chatting. Gotta love it.
@@jimjenkins673 agreed, they are both top guys.
Hey, old boy!
I love your singing neighbors! 😜👍
Winds, always on your back, and enough of it!
You’re the freakin MAN, Barry!!! Happy to be a Patron
Ripping out sucks. My sypathies. But remember, BOAT is a acronym for 'Break Out Another Thousand'. LOL.. Life on the open seas. Never a dull moment. 😁

Thank you
I like “beer o’clock “ almost as much as I like your videos!! Jolly good!
The old dog. Sailing with his lady. Gracefully.
Life IS a wonderful thing.
Never open the dropped beer. Unless it's the last beer.

The boats looking really nice Barry.
Good morning, lol ! Motor on ! If required,😳😅🤣 glad you are ok and back at the Helm , thanks for taking us along !😉😃
When you're on the move Barry you look 10 yrs younger! Shaddy is looking well too!
That last decision I believe was a wise one!! 🍻👍👍😃
Was worried that you were becoming land bound, good to see you sailing again
Was thinking the same thing and not convinced otherwise.
@@tomschuler4181 He has sailed from the UK!
@@tomschuler4181 We'll see if you're man enough to admit when you're wrong.
Beer O Clock damn right.
Thanks Barry good episode enjoyed that while eating my tea , cheers .

Sail with the wind Barry just like Joshua Slocum did.

Love an old sea dog video notification! Great video as always Barry yeah, baby!
LOL Beer O'Clock - I hear it too Barry!!! Another great Seadog video. Cheers and thanks for sharing.
I'm sailing solo from a comfortable chair. Okay, pretty mundane, but makes me appreciate your meanderings more. Good luck, Seadog.
Days like that are magnificent.
Nothing like a bit of slow boat sailing; Shaddie might not be the fastest but she gets the job done. Nice one Barry.
It seems like you need a hug or ten? The last while has been hard. Much love to you Barry, I wish you high seas adventures and everything you need.
Loved the smile on your face when you sailed into the cove!
Happy to see you got a proper hat!
The oil on board this is so real… for many.
Actually 86 November 18. I am a potter and a home brewer of beer and 🍷. Retired from painting and drywall after 56 years and traveling while doing so.
Great snapper fishing around GBI ,and crays.
Now Great Barrier Island really put on your happy face and Shadow was taking great care keeping you happy. Well done, Captain.
Glad your free, God's speed Barry!!!
Well, I thought ya might be heading g to Azzie Land, I was wrong! Enjoy the Bearier Island.
Hope the dropped beer clip is a prelude to the return of the bloopers ...⭐
Nice to see the old Seadog and Shaddy out on the high seas, lovely spot to have a beer too 🍻 cheers.
Good to see ya “Out & About”👍 Continue to Stay Safe & Enjoy😎

Sorry C G - I think you have to accept, Wilson is gone. Deflating though the thought is.... Well he had a ball while it lasted
Great vids, Barry. Despite these type of nautical frustrations, remember that you still have a much better gig than an office job like the rest of us!
Please don’t get rid of your boat Barry. You have too many great memories with her and plenty more adventures to come. Life is one big adventure. Always look forward.👍🏻
Your a blessed person..... KARMA is real old bloke... your living the dream

Great Barrier is awesome. I went in there on Spirit of New Zealand. Got my own boat now, so Barrier is on my list. Hope Fiji is stunning as ever.
