I met Daniel at Still Falling theatrical release in Abuja with Sharon Ooja. He was so nice and you could tell he is a kind soul. Watching this just made me have extra respect for this actor. He will go to a lot of places! I especially love how passionate he is about being a man of faith and how he respects his marriage. These are the kind of stories we singles need to hear to encourage us because the bad stories are madeaux!! 😃 You could tell that the hosts were hit with goosebumps when he told stories about his marriage 😅 We need more young men like these tbh.
The first men only podcast that I am not rolling my eyes… I love the maturity and wisdom Daniel carries!! Teach men to be Men and not babies or boys, PLEASE!!
I'm a Black American born and raised. I do not have parents from a Black immigrant background. I was raised on Hollywood. I have completely dumped Hollywood at this point and I mostly watch Nollywood films, series, and shows. Also, a growing number of ethnically born and raised Black Americans are watching Nollywood. In short, you are too hard on yourselves in this interview. You have a lot of great acting talent in Nollywood. I think it is more than what you think. A lot of your actors are top notch actors that can hold their own with actors in the US, UK, etc...You are getting more caught up with "is it a big production" or "on the big screen" like a Hollywood film vs. "is it good story telling". Films like "Woman King" broke even and didn't even hit 100 million worldwide. Nowhere on the level of some of the mainstream US productions . Hollywood has turned into a political and social liberal agenda pushing narratives propaganda machine vs. good story telling. Hollywood is not how it used to be and many Americans are preferring original movies from streaming services. Also, Black Hollywood is basically non existent. It's like we took several steps back. The new thing is placing a single Black person in an IR cast . Black stories with Black casts are hardly being told anymore. This is where Nollywood shines.
53:45 I love this episode, I just stumbled on this podcast and I’m already a fan. Daniel hit the nail concerning leadership and I can’t say I’m surprised he is very intentional about his work, family and life in general. I can tell by the way he moves on social media and his work. I’m a big fan of nollywood and respect their work. The movie we consume in 2 hours takes them weeks even months to finish. It’s so easy to criticize from the outside because we are not on the field with them. Yes, they have more work to do but they will gradually get there with the help of investors. Let’s continue to encourage our nollywood industry. If you know how foreigners love nollywood, you won’t take it for granted. I didn’t appreciate our movies until I relocated. Now I can’t stop watching nollywood movies on RUclips and Netflix. Kudos to you all, let’s keep the conversation going🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Due to stress and distractions in modern life, it’s really hard to maintain a dialogue with our inner selves about who we are and want to be. What a great episode 👍🏾. Nice one guys
Another insight-filled episode which could easily have gone on for an additional hour, but alas... Nonetheless, well done, gentlemen. I particularly appreciated the bits about some of the challenges facing the Nigerian movie industry, Daniel's respect for "the process" and discipline while putting in the work and remaining accountable to himself and his family. Lots of gems dropped. Bem feito senhores👏🏽👏🏽
Beautiful episode..i felt the fair dude was bombarding him with lots of question thus interrupting daniel's flow in the conversation. Its a podcast not a Q and A
Blood sisters, Jolly Roger , and Collision, just to name a few, are brilliant movies definitely worth watching. Daniel is definitely an action man. He was brilliant in Jolly Roger and Collision. I do like him in romantic roles, but for me personally, the action roles are more suited to him. He is a versatile actor, and so far from all the movies i have watched, he has shown he can execute any role. 👌🏾👌🏾
I feel Daniel is a true believer that walks in faith. From what I know of him, he is a devout Christian and I think plus the upbringing helps him stay disciplined. And I’d love to see an episode talking about the spiritual side of dating in a modern context.. I’m not a “holier than thou” type of a person but trying to build my faith in God and would love to know more in that aspect when it comes to Lagos
That statement of “If you get married because you are genuinely at the stage shows” is spot on! You’ll literally be dedicated and respectful and the fantasies of the streets won’t excite you no matter your past or temptations. They’ll come but you’ll be willing to put in the work. A home that starts out of pressure will be more difficult to work on.
So true! You mention “lead”. And some men think it means to control and some women think it means submitting to a man that controls, where you lose your identity. Not at all!
Lovely. He has a good head on his shoulders. All round decent guy. Nollywood had the market... lost it. Yes, money is an issue but it's a catch 22. A good production would bring good audiences. Writing, as you said, is pretty shitty. Directing too. And money miss road productions. Well, kudos to those still striving.
Nollywood has a huge market. The industry is just not structured enough to take advantage of the entire market. The infrastructure needed to distribute the films are also not present. It will happen eventually… it’s a matter of time.
@@akasidina1708 No, they're not. How many South Africans can afford Netflix and Showmax, you're cutting out 90% of your consumer base, then. Series like Uzalo, Gomorrah, Muvhango, Generations are staples of SABC.
Y'all should calm down. The way Nigerians criticize nollywood, it's appalling. The industry is growing, no one is noticing that. Some of you last watched nollywood 20 years ago, and still have that kind of thought process regarding nollywood.
If you’re shocked at Daniel’s role in Oloture, it means you didn’t watch him as Folarin in Gidi Up… 🤣🤣🤣 He played a terrible person in his very first role in Nollywood 😂
Why are Nigerians never authentic to themselves and their society? Why must Nigerians copy what happens to other people and society? There is no 9-5 in Nigeria and but they will continue to say 9-5 because it's what is obtainable in America? Work starts from 8 am in Nigeria and ends by 4pm. If you go to work in Nigeria by 9 am, you are late. So Nigerians stop with the whole 9-5 thingy. It's appalling.
If mature, articulated and coordinated was a person, it would be Daniel Etim-Effiong.
Beautiful episode😊
Yep!
This man is Handsome, very intelligent, and Godly. May God bless him and his household.
AMEN IN JESUS' MIGHTY NAME🙏🙏🙏
Etim, you are indeed so deeply insightful and real❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Great interview. It's so cool and refreshing listening to a young man these days that talks about marriage like Daniel does. God bless his home.

Amazing interview. You can tell how intentional Etim Effiong is. Well articulated responses.
I choose to call him Lanre because of his role in the series THE MENS CLUB . He is one of my favourite actors in Nollywood.
Michael was really listening to Daniel keenly😂so adorable.😌
Really wonderful to transit from being a scientist to a fantastic professional artist . Well done Daniel
I just came across this and I watched. Really good stuff, Daniel speaking pidgin is so funny 😂

Lovely. I must add though, men please marry women who want to be led, to avoid problems. women, please marry men who can lead, to avoid problems.
Can men actually LEAD women correctly? It's been 400 years and black men are proven to be the worst leaders in history
