It's hard to find a good single commentary on Micah. I only have the OTL commentary on Micah written by James L. Mays and the Andersen & Freedman's Micah on Anchor Bible series. Thanks for this video pastor, its a very helpful recomendation for me!
Nogalski's first volume is indeed excellent for scholarship and devotion. I've been eagerly awaiting his Micah volume here in Canada. I have the Elaine Phillips (Appollos) volume arriving today with Nogalski's edition next in line.
@@pastorslibrary I ended up returning Phillips due to financing another book, but the parts I read were thought provoking and I'd like to re-purchase it down the road. She doesn't offer application as much as food for thought, but each bite held much nourishment. Even better, for me, is Morales' 2 volumes on Numbers. I have more understanding of the NT after reading his commentary on chapters 1-6 than I've gotten from commentaries specific to the NT itself. But, as I say, that's just me and my specific Hebrew Bible-orientated Christian faith. His IVP book on Leviticus is equally excellent.
Thanks pastor Steve. I have been picking up the latest NICOT volumes when they go on sale on Amazon Kindle. This will be the next purchase! For now, I’ll continue to use the OT Library volume by Daniel Christopher-Smith on Micah. The author is a peace studies scholar as well as a Biblical scholar. And I like it too because the author has a strong connection with my home country of New Zealand.
You speak much and greatly about Bibliography. Perhaps you could do one on books with your favorite Bibliography and how you like to use them and how useful they can and have been for you? Also, wonderful video as always. Thank you 🙏 for your continued dedication to your channel and its followers.
Hi Mr. Redman, Thanks for this vid. I agree that this is outstanding. Academically, the only real rival is Bruce Waltke's standalone commentary which is also first-rate. Cheers, Steve
Hello Pastor !! Great insight on the Micah commentary. Can you let me know which of the NIGTC commentary is exceptional as I have purchased the Romans one by Longenecker so just wanted to know which other ones are outstanding in the NIGTC series Thanks
Thank you,Pastor!!!! Love and Blessings for you and yours. What a fortunate congregation you shepherd.⭐🌹🌹⭐
Bless you so much and thanks!
This makes me want to do a better study on Micah! It's definitely a book I have neglected in the past... 😬
Thank you reverend. These updates certainly look good. I have Waltke’s Micah which will be my main resource for now.
You said his name right! I knew him while at Baylor, a very kind and disciplined man who can also play the guitar and sing quite well.
Wow - it was a guess- but thanks - that was a confidence builder! Bless you!

Thanks again Steve for another recommendation!!!
Waltke is amazing. I haven't yet gotten his Micah (or proverbs) but his psalms stuff is outstanding.
