Rules are absent on tints. There is one supreme court verdict on this matter. It said at least 70% transparency in front and back panes and at-least 50% transparency in side windows. But one knows police in Indian states. They are ill-informed and think themselves to be above law. There is no point arguing with them. So no body puts any tint.
Black tint is only allowed for people who can spend 30-50 lacs on Audi, BMW, Mercedes. Aam aadmi ko sun shades lagane ki anumati nahi di sarkar ne, kyonki wo aam aadmi hai.

As car companies themselves selling it by saying 60 % of rays obstruction which is as per law. Hence they are costly too.

One needs to refer to the Laws of the nation before making any modifications to their automobiles. It is the responsibility of the owner to abide by the Laws and it is the responsibility of the Law enforcement agencies to ensure it is being followed. Educating oneself is more important than blaming others.

In short, Supreme Court judgement on the issue says that no film should be stuck on any glass area of the vehicle. Even if film is transparent it amounts to violation. Sunshade on other hand does not fit under the definition of film. More so it is not stuck to the glass. In my view it's perfectly legal, till there modification of the order of SC.
Police na sunegi ye sab .. you know it's India . Visibility ki baat h actually aise toh log film nhi lagaenge but kapda / curtain lagenge toh baat toh vo hi h.. ki andar ka kuch visible nhi h..

Mera verna ka chalan hua hai back windshield pe jo company fitted aati hai shade uska chandigarh mein.
In haramzado ka koi bharosa nahi hai.
Chandigarh m to koi bhi glass black shade mein nahi honi chahiye. Mera bhi katne vala tha, request kar li.
as per traffic rules front 100% visibility from back to front mirror, so front rear per nahi laga sakte, rear seat per agar patient ha than only allowed. Otherwise upto your luck or duty officer. In chalan book it's just mention black glass. 😀

Its supposed to be used while parking during summer seasons, so that before we sit in the car..... its prevents heat ( ONLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED) rear sides are allowed ...... garmi ke din me aap jab car me raat ko fit karenge, to savere aapki car garam nai hogi ..... 👍
Supposed to, but whoever invented them left some room for mirror, so it was intended to be use use while driving. Totally unsafe
High court says , that you cannot use film and in case 50% rule for tint is for manufacturers only , and high court also said that you can use sun shades if you have problem with sunlight or uv rays the petitioner was Vipul Gambhir and you can check for his judgement

If any traffic authority fines or penalise, kindly ask him under which rule he is doing so, you can instantly cross check the rule number on internet if it doesn't cover the claim of the authority you can challenge. him.
Ye motor vehicle act 206(R) mai aata hai, ye pichhey ki seats k liye b allow nai hai, aap kisi b glass pe koi b tint material ni laga sakte, even k agar aap koi transparent tape b lagwatey ho to b ye violation hai, wahan pe to isko fine kr k chhod diya, humarey J&K mai gaadi seize ho jati hai or high court mai doubble bench release karta hai, koi single judge ya justice us gaadi ko release ni kar sakta. So please be safe drive safe, n always follow traffic rules

But yeh technically glass pe nahi chipkayi Hui hai. Window frame par hai.
Baaki toh sahi hai ki ghum phir k view block karti hai bahar se. The act should have rather stated you can't have anything on the window that blocks the view. That would have covered anything that blocks the view.

Sir.The Motorvehical law prohibited it.
Bhai upto 70% Visibility is must. And sunshade can be added.
Sun shade driver side is not permissible as it acts as a blinds. You won't be able to judge a vehicle which is trying to overtake you from the right side of your vehicle. While on the front passenger side it is still okay if the outside left rearview mirror is visible to you and can clearly see what's going on on the left side of your vehicle. Tinting glasses are permissible to a limit on passenger sides and not on the driver side. Anything hindering the view of outside in or inside out on the driver side is not permissible. Even sometimes people use towels or bedsheets on windows to bar sunlight while traveling on a sunny day. One must get a full view of front, both sides, and rear while driving is what the rule says. Fir woh tint ho ya shades.
This is the current explanation of why tints are not allowed. Rule is mostly made for safe driving. If the driver can't see back or side traffic properly, he/she is prone to accidents. Just don't use towel, curtain, or anything that cover drivers back or side views as simple as that.

I have installed sunshades in my new baleno 2022 in 4 glasses nd rear to, its a genuine Accessories and legal too, i have travel so many city nd state no problem at all, in fact my car have already uv cut glasses almost 30%dark. Dhup me jalna pasand ni insaan h garmi lagti h😂

This rule was introduced when there was a rise in rape and kidnapping cases in moving vehicles. This has nothing to do with safe driving.

As per my experience, if you put sun shades on driver and co-driver sides, it hampers driver's vision while driving.

Nothing would be hamperes becoz driver and codriver side have half cut sunshades are available.
I also use curtain for direct sun light.
