  • The Edge Pro shows you how to change your hinge and latch. On both Andis and Oster clippers changing the hinge and latch is important if your blades are not holding tightly onto your clipper. The video also shows you how to check your hinge to see if you do need to change it.
As always let us know if you have more question and we do stock these parts.

Thanks for the reply! I found a way to fix it. Without a blade on, the latch was stuck in the "closed" position and would not move. So it was hard to put another blade on the latch. Instead I put a small flat-head in the gap under the latch and carefully opened it. Thanks again!

My razor's blade doesn't snap completely and it makes a rattle noise.Should I try and change the hinge?

Make sure first that it is not an issue with the socket. The socket in the blade itself can make it rattle if it is not tight enough. If the little "ears" on the sockets are fitting tightly on the hinge and it's still making a rattling noise, I would then suspect that the hinge is the culprit.

    Hello LeeAnn,
We are glad to hear that the video helped you. As for the latch being stuck are you meaning after you have put a blade on and closed the hinge that it does not allow the latch to slide? If this is the case then it could have a defective part. If you have removed the blade and are trying to move the latch while the hinge is in the up position it many times will drag or catch. Will the latch lock on and push to release with the blade installed?

In that case then it should be ok. make sure the lock keeper is installed under the hinge/latch assm. The lock keepers job is to give support to the latch and without it the latch will want to drag or bind.
Hope this helps, and if you need any of these replacement parts or want to discuss the repair with on of our technicians you can call 1-800-963-1990 m-f 9-5

i just bought the oster 76 clippers and on the first day of my new job( super cuts, was required to get this brand and model i spent every last penny), i was really liking them way different then the wahls , but then on my last client of the day i was trying to take off the attachment on the blade and both came off and i noticed the blade latch isn't sticking out anymore its flat....what do i do, i have work in the morning and im not sure how to get it back up?

Thank you sooo much for posting this. I had no idea how to put the blade lock back together with the other metal thing. I have a Andis AG2 which is a pet clipper. After reassembling - the latch seems to still be stuck in the down position, is it broken??
