That hit on Pronger meant so much to the Blackhawks. Pronger was being brutal to the smaller guys and then Byfuglien started going after him. The fans were obviously excited to see some revenge as well
he throw hits properly and doesnt try to head hunt. in the old days they use to call these hits "hitting through the body". this is exactly how these hits are lined up. not intended target the head. more players should play like buff.
It's amazing but he actually holds up on almost every hit. He would injure everyone if he didn't. None of those were even close to dirty. If he hit anyone dirty with full force, they'd be crippled or dead.
@@jasonnormandale2281 Agreed. Like the comment above. He doesn't head hunt. He has an art to line up the perfect hits and keeps them legal. One of the best hitters in the game in my opinion. They look brutal as hell but completely in the bounds of legal.

Patrik Laine (Finnish pronunciation: [ˈlɑine]; born 19 April 1998 in Tampere, Finland) is a Finnish professional ice hockey winger who currently plays for the Winnipeg Jets in the National Hockey League (NHL). Laine formerly played in his native Finland with Tappara in the Finnish Liiga before he was taken with the second overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft by the Jets.
@Alwayzchillin07 Anyone who can take on Pronger and put him on his ass is my kind of guy. Anyone who taunts the Vancouver Canucks fans after scoring a critical goal is my kind of guy.
it still sucks that the Jets couldn't give this guy a proper contract and it also sucks that he just gave up and didn't want to play anymore, he was definitely a fan favorite and one of the best players on the team.
This is old but I don't blame him for quitting a league where he had to play against 7 opponents, 2 of them wearing striped jerseys. Every game , year after year. Good for you Buf. Have a good life.
I think Kronwall has a better sense of how to lay the hit. Buff just uses brute strength because he can. Either way, I wouldn't wanna see either of them coming at me.
#10 he single handedly won Chicago the cup that year. Everyone thought the Philly defense would clobber all the small skilled Chicago forwards, then Buff started hitting Pronger and the dumb swede.

Wow Buff going after Pronger that’s great two defenseman who were really good in their prime going at it :) I’m not a big fan of either team but I gotta say as a Bruins fan I respect both men because playing defense in hockey takes a lot of skill and Big Buff is a great defenseman has the size , the speed , the skill and the offensive awareness too
As a winnipeger I'm gonna miss him. You always appreciate a good solid enforcer or solid wall defense. See ya around Buff. Enjoy your time with family.
As a Blackhawks fan I'm more than a little biased but that #10 hit should be way higher up. Pronger was untouchable all postseason. Nobody really had an answer for his physicality, so when Buff did that to him in the corner it really gave the Hawks confidence in that series.
Came back to this now that he’s (maybe) done. Buff was always one of the most entertaining guys in the league to watch, huge but clean hitter with legitimate offensive skills too.
I don't really have any issues with many of these hits. Yes some are penalties but like the gazdic and stone one, those are completely clean in my book. Defensemen are supposed to protect both blue lines and that means throwing the shoulder. If a player like stone is looking back and lowered down, its not on the hitter to not hit him, its the hittee that needs to get their head up. Big Buff is an old style defensemen. We need more of him
I miss watching Buff play in the Peg but I'm happy he left on his terms before he got concussed of suffered some bad injury. I think his ankle fracture made him put his hockey career in perspective with the rest of his life and he made his decision putting his future and his family first. He doesn't owe anybody a damn thing for making that call, makes me respect him and love him all the more. Wpg thanks you for the memories big guy and we look forward to you coming back for the ceremony when they hoist #33 into the rafters on Portage Ave.
Kath Casey Sens fans as well, but please don't compare them. Stevens was a head hunter and ruined players' careers. Byfuglien is just a hardass hitter.
I never knew about this guy (Buff) Byfuglien until recently. Somebody made a short video about him and I happened to watch it and then watched more videos and looked him up and read a little bit about him. What a beast!
True Story - I was at the game where buff flattened stone. The irony is that stone's dad was sitting 2 rows in front of me and was complaining how buff is a dirty player and that hit deserved suspension. Clearly stone's dad was just trying to protect his son but buff's hit was 100% clean.
I loved Buff when he played for the Blackhawks but I used to think he went a little overboard on some of his hits. However after watching this video I gotta say, every one of these were INTENTIONALLY clean, even if they ended up causing damage UNINTENTIONALLY. Literally every hit he keeps his arms down, doesn't leave his feet before contact, always targets the shoulder or chest, just solid clean hits Hell you can even see when he was fighting w/the guy on Columbus in the last one, Buff just pulled the guys jersey over his head to basically pin him. It was like he didn't want to fight just bc he threw a clean hit. But rather than teach the guy a lesson & potentially hurt him badly, he decided to just neutralize him until the ref broke it up. He's just an NFL defensive end in the NHL, he's what JJ Watt woulda been if he chose hockey over football 🤷🏼♂️
Without a doubt, he is the best thing to ever happen to the winnipeg jets. He is a freight train, but yet, mostly a gentlemen about it. I really hope his ankle recovers. He has easily been my favourite player since i first discovered him in 2010 when he won the cup in chicago 👍
Im a Wild fan but Byfuglien is one of my absolute favorite players. Hits like a truck but he does it clean and just comes off as such a nice guy even though he could probably murder everybody.
I love how he always throws down the second guy who comes to defend his teammate so easily
yeah man !, one of my friend give me a byfuglien hockey card today. love so much how this guy can hits!
Lol I know. He lays a dude out like nothing and by the time that dude can come at him there's another body getting flattened.
Yea, well, the second segment featured Kopitar as the second hit😅
Big Buff has no tolerance for heroes.
That's because the 2nd guy needs to stand up for his teammate but doesn't really want to stand up for the fight.
I swear he’s holding back on some of these because he knows what he can do
He does. Otherwise guys would be hurt
My exact thought after the hit at 4:49
There is no way to prove that.
Davis Turner could legit kill anyone in the league

True, hes try not to hurt anyone but it´s like train when he comes .
he does play on the edge very well.

Freaking pissed when the Blackhawks let “Big Buff” go.

Well the big rumor is that he didn't like being an inforcer or hurting ppl but that's the only reason for him on most teams
I used to tune into Jets games just to watch him.

That rumor is BS mate. Buff was a 50 point dman who also happened to be good at defense and hitting
I lOve it when coach maurice tells the refs......FACK AFF.....with the gum almost coming out of his mouth , right on.
jay lava lmfao
Fukin hilarious and so true
Its hilarious to watch, guys get so upset after and he just grabs two or three of them and throws em around like dolls
I've been watching ice hockey for 38 years. Dustin Byfuglien is the hardest hitter I've ever seen. Scott Stevens #2.
Scott Stevens has some pretty heavy hits, I’d like to see a highlight reel of his prime cuts!

Scott Stevens and Byfuglien....

True that. Although Kaner was doing his part, too.
Asus McTablet that’s when I wanted him on the Rangers. I would love him now but not at the current cap hit but damn is a beast
Buff scored big goals too. I thought he should've had the Conn Smythe
An absolute beast...... miss watching him play this year.
Great compilation of hits, these are beautiful
Dude this guy is so entertaining.
Dude is a BEAST. Taking on two at a time in almost every clip!!
Don't ever change Dustin. You're a real hockey player and we need guys like you in the game to prevent the dilution of this great sport.
I think about and miss this man every day
You can't hate on this guy. Just physically dominates the hell out of everyone
Buff is so solid clean. He does exactly what you are taught as a kid. Separate the man from the puck. Phenomenal example of that.
The man the myth the legend
Its so awesome to watch this guy wreck everyone. NHL needs guys like him
Definitely gets boring just seeing scoring in a game
Byfuglien has always been my favorite hockey player for watching big hits

With his size it’s difficult not to injure. He plays honest and not dirty.

its a skill set like Ovechkin andCaps. Im waiting for the team to catch up withO and thry did.

One of the many mistakes of Stan Bowman was trading Big Buff away from the Blackhawks.
John Paravantis Damn right! Problem was, that team had so many good players, they couldn't pay all of them and stay under the cap.
Amen brother we sure miss him
Stan Bowman is a disgrace of a GM. He makes the name Bowman look bad. Scotty Bowman needs to give him a few tips.
The mistake was as much Q's for not keeping Buff on D. Remember he was a winger most of the time with Chicago.
@@AC-gw4qu But he did good as a winger in Chicago.
That penalty he took against Kopitar was such a bad call. Byfuglien had to deal with that his whole career. Given penalties due to sheer carnage
