I like how honest you are about the process. My favorite was "this stuff sucks" lol. It's nice to see other people can make cool stuff but still get frustrated at times like me (as opposed to appearing to do it flawlessly). I should have documented some of the wood toys I made. This inspired me to do a video next time I build something.
Thank you. I have tried to show a more of my personality in my recent videos as the ones before were just tutorials, which I did not really enjoy making. Now I can show the process in a similarly detailed way, while still not editing out all my mistakes. Mistakes have brought me to where I am right now, and always editing them out would be dishonest to the viewers. This does not mean that I will leave all of them in the video, but a few fails here and there has never hurt anyone :) Too bad you didn't document your woods toys! I would have liked to see them. Really fun for me to see that you feel inspired(!), because this is part of what my channel is all about.
***** low cost materials usually arnt good quality, say i got some cheap felt, it might be thin and almost usless for a project, whereas an expensive one might be thicker and more useful. I was overexagerating when i said never because in some rare cases you can have cheap and quality, but it rarely happens
Dude, you are really talented! Both on the woodworking side and on content creation - this is a satisfying video to watch and I imagine it was a satisfying project to build! Subbed and I look forward to watching more!
I have put together a detailed instruction on how to make this at Instructables's website. This is for those who prefer to have this tutorial in a text format: www.instructables.com/id/Wooden-Fidget-Cube/
I thought the price on the true fidget cube was ridiculous too, so I think this is a great alternative, the only issue with creating one out of wood is the noises it makes. I think the kickstarter has gained it's popularity partly because it's supposed to be silent enough not to attract attention to your fidgeting. Regardless, this was an innovative vid! good job!
I had no intention of making this toy, I don't even have the skills to do so even if I wanted to.. I still watched the entire video. Watching you make that put me in a trance omf good work
Oh good! So I'm not the only one who doesn't want to pay $25 for a piece of plastic! I don't have a wood shop at my disposal, but at least there's other people who think realistically.
GglePlus Sux I know you don't fidget. People who don't normally say that. My husband says the same as well, cause he doesn't fidget. It's like a compulsive disorder. Lots of times we're fidgeting with something and don't know it, cause it's instantly calming to someone who fidgets. But do that in front of someone who doesn't and can become a very BIG deal. I have severe issues with hair twirling. I can't even concentrate if I'm not twirling my hair. Been doing it so many years I have certain bangs that are naturally separated from the rest of my hair. The lock of bangs you see on the left. That's the hair I twirl. Sometimes it aggravates people, and I'm told to stop. And it's instant stress and anxiety for me. Sometimes I'll yell about it without even thinking. Some people have so severe a condition that they need medication for it.
This is very cool. An idea for one of the blank sides would be to add velcro. You would want the two sides attached on one edge so you wouldn't lose the piece that isn't glued to the cube. But this would add a noise element to your cube
For the "trigger" , instead of use the super glue, you can use a little nail, or create a little cylinder of wood fixed with a nail or glue...and fit the spring over it
This is great video! I've always wanted to make one of these, but I don't have alot of tools, so the minimal tools you use are really helpful. Would you mind putting a materials list in the description?
This is really cool for if you want to make your own and like the idea of having one. But if you are using it as a versatile and easy to use fidget toy you should still buy the original. The original has eight different things and was created to relieve adhd symptoms. Making it yourself turns it from a fidget toy to a desk toy. There are pros and cons to both. I really like that you can make it though :)
Great work, man! I believe the Fidget Cube from Antsy Labs is better for single-hand fidgeting, but your cube is amazing (specially considering that you've handcrafted it).
Fun project for you. I am wondering how long it actually took to make it though. It just seems like it would be easier to buy it online once you factor in the hours making it and the materials bought
Little tip for when you use superglue. Use a Cyanoacrylate Accelerator. Its a small spray bottle that will rapidly speed up the drying of the superglue.
Believe me, I did try. The diameter of the drill itself was too wide and the hole saw left awful edges at the workpiece (the few times it didn't just crack the entire board in half).
Thanks. I have been thinking about making one as well. This works great but I still want something to spin around. Just have to get one of those bearings.
Drew Bilbrey Don't really know the difference, but yes I suppose it should work. From what I know you either need to have a dried out ball bearing or clean out all the grease on a new one. The grease is usually there to give the bearing a longer life, but on a spinner you want it to spin for as long as possible. The greased ones are silent but won't spin for more than a few seconds.
You could sandpaper a thumb shaped indent in one side so there'd be a small depression that you could feel. It wouldn't a difficult add on and give one side a sort of worry stone effect. If you really wanted to go all out you could make a small rolling ball maze - but that would be insanely difficult and require a lot more planning. I really want to make one as a present for a friend :) It looks doable! Not easy, nor quick, but something that I could actually accomplish with my basic resistant materials GCSE knowledge :) a good project to last until christmas 2017 XD
Thank you, suppose we all have to start somewhere :) Wasn't too long ago since I had 50 subs, so despite my channel growing fairly slowly, it is at least growing!
Eloines well i later found out he is finnish kinda like i am (which is exactly what i thought) finns arent scandinavian although that is a very common misconception
the wood makes it look classy
HakulBee S It's beautiful
That's actually the most beautifull fidget cube, I ever seen
Samantha Angers are you blind?
FôūÑĐ Graffiti euh wtf why ?
Samantha Angers (face palm)
_Samantha Angers._ *I agree*
Very nice - the journey was interesting to watch, especially your coping saw skills.
Kind of like the wooden aesthetic. Very nice

so basically the choice is between money or time
that's usually how labor works, yea. cheap, quick, quality. you can only pick two.
Caesar McSalad
there is never such thing as "cheap and quality"
AfterTech If you take the time to make something by hand using low cost materials or things you already have, there is.

It's not just about the end product. It's the process of making it.
" I can stick it pretty much anywhere!"
*drops cube
that was supposed to be a joke. he could have edited it out if it wasnt
sarthk kharwal I don't think it was
Izzy Brady lol
Izzy Brady I wad about to comment that but you beat me to it XD
Izzy Brady my first name is brady😂
This video reminds me of school when we made stuff and used coping saws and the vyses.... Filing was the worse part
im in school right now and we are doing it. the filing is one of the parts i like doing.
i'm in high school rn too and i absolutely hate filing.
Filing wood is better than filing metal! The sounds it made were horrible lol
I'm weird, I really love filing wood! Absolutely hate filing acrylics tho 😂
Filing is calming in a way
Watching your piece smooth out and slowly come together
You don't have a lot of noise and saw dust to contend with
Very cool, turned out great!
Thanks Josh!
So cool! What camera do you use? I've been looking for a good camera, and i am a little curious :)

so you live in sweden?
did u see the swedish coin?
yup
are u swedish?
yup
The wood makes it look classy!
I'm not sure if you do many videos like this, but for your drawn out portion, some isometric paper would really help with the sketches.
"I can pretty much stick it anywhere..." *tries to stick it on the drill*...drops it...lol...idk how i havent found this channel yet great job!!
that's superb. can we do it with paper
Woah that's really cool and amazing way to make your own personalised fidget box. I'm a new subscriber so I'm excited to see more videos.
I love it better than the plastic because it looks very nice. But only the spring button is satisfying

Thank you for sharing this with us. Can't wait to get the materials. And start on some Christmas presents for friends and family.
nice work! You should get an electric orbital sander... would make your life a lot easier.
Sure would. I want to purchase a bunch of (professional) tools all at once to save money on shipping, but saving up takes quite a while.
LetsBuildIt good luck saving up! You deserve the best

10$
$22, normally $25.

Christin Seegers You can get a knock off from the app Aliexpress! I found one for 7.50.
Just stop fidgeting and you wont need to spend money on this kind of crap. Simple.

OMG that is the coolest remake EVER! Nice job!

This guy has done a pretty good job guys, you can tell he put in a lot of effort, don't hate guys that's just sad :(
I probably wouldn't have the patience to do this, but the final turn out was beautiful, loved the video!
This was so impressively made, and I really enjoyed the fact that it was made out of wood. Such a good job! :)
For the "trigger" , instead of use the super glue, you can use a little nail, or create a little cylinder of wood fixed with a nail or glue...and fit the spring over it
This turned out really amazing, nice!
Wow Great job, It looks amazing, its also a great display item.
This is cool and I love how you filmed this with all the low volume sawing noises :D
This is great video! I've always wanted to make one of these, but I don't have alot of tools, so the minimal tools you use are really helpful. Would you mind putting a materials list in the description?
I love it
It looks way better than the other one and i think it feels nicer
love it!! have u done anything with wooden pallets? beds for example
wow, this is amazing! This is so much work, I wouldn't have the willpower to do it
Great job!
Great video! Keep up the amazing work fam!
THIS IS SO COOOOOOLLL you are so talented and your hard work definitely pays off
Great video! You are really handy. Looking forward to more videos from you!

Very nice great project and excellent video. 👍
If you take a Flashlight and put it level to the floor you can find anything. Nails, earrings, rings, pins. No more losing stuff!
Phoenix Siren Already tried that the moment right after it got dropped, but it really had disappeared.
aww maybe under something. too bad you didn't have another nail. Thanks for taking the time to reply ^_^
Phoenix Siren No problem. Thanks for watching
This is amazing! So much work, but the toy looks pretty cool!
Fun project for you. I am wondering how long it actually took to make it though. It just seems like it would be easier to buy it online once you factor in the hours making it and the materials bought
HAHAHAH he was so serious and then he said "pen and pineapple" LOVE IT
This is so cool! Good job, I don't want to imagine how long this took you.
That looks really cute and niceee!
what an awesome idea! love the work
any other suggestion as to replace the wood? Just curious :)
The pen and pineapple joke, dude that was nice.
I think for the other two remaining sides you could put textures on one and like a worry stone groove on the other
Fantastic job on this! I wish I had all of the tools to do it as well.. Looks like I'm just gonna have to buy my own haha. :)
you are going to put the fidget cube business out of business!
I want one of those. It’s so well made
love it, well done with all your thought and work.
That's Really Good..I appreciated your hard work
Thanks for sharing and I'm happy for having a CNC machine :D
Great build man!
it is truly amazing on how u make this nice job man keep it goin
Solomon Cha Thanks
cool little gadget. I subscribed to your channel. thanks for showing
Little tip for when you use superglue. Use a Cyanoacrylate Accelerator. Its a small spray bottle that will rapidly speed up the drying of the superglue.
they look very nice with the wood.
You just got a new subscriber! I love your video 😉
Man, this is brilliant! I'm soo going to make this
YOU DERISIVE MORE SUBSCRIBERS LIKE 1 MILLION. KEEP UP THE AWESOME, PERFECT WORK!
Great project, Thought I think a lot of the steps could have been skipped if you used a hole saw bit to cut out all of the round parts.
Believe me, I did try. The diameter of the drill itself was too wide and the hole saw left awful edges at the workpiece (the few times it didn't just crack the entire board in half).
Nice cube! Great quality!
It looks so cool!
Man...with your engineering skills, you could make an even better fidget toy
Awesome video! I've been planning a build for one of the spinning fidget toys. :)
Thanks. I have been thinking about making one as well. This works great but I still want something to spin around. Just have to get one of those bearings.
Do you think a regular ball bearing would work as well as a skate bearing?
Drew Bilbrey Don't really know the difference, but yes I suppose it should work. From what I know you either need to have a dried out ball bearing or clean out all the grease on a new one. The grease is usually there to give the bearing a longer life, but on a spinner you want it to spin for as long as possible. The greased ones are silent but won't spin for more than a few seconds.
That makes sense. ;)
Nice i don't Go in for this whole hype in Fidget toys And if I had to own one That one's pretty cool
I think for the two empty sides, on the right you could put a rock. Then on the left you should have just enough room for a hard place.
Very nice! Someday, your channel is going to blow up! :) (your subs obviously)
Thank you. Hopefully it won't take much longer :)
This is really cool but I was wondering if there was any info on that cool looking spinner he displayed in the beginning of the video
That wasn't a spinner but a yellow padlock :)
it looks pretty awesome, I will try to copy it...maybe my would look like yours ;D I hope! Good work
Nice project, dude!
Wow, so amazing!
That's so cool!
This looks so nice
OMG 0:37 FINALLY A RUclipsR WHO RECOGNIZES THIS
You deserve more subscribers! Try working on advertising your channel and putting your name out there.
Working on it! I am still very surprised about all the views and the fact that this video stands for 30% of my total channel views.
You could sandpaper a thumb shaped indent in one side so there'd be a small depression that you could feel. It wouldn't a difficult add on and give one side a sort of worry stone effect.

"This really shouldn't be too hard."
Famous Last Words.
Dang what a money saver. I fiddle a lot, u saved me 20 dollars and is really 😊
Good
holy crap... you are a genius
As great and innovative as this is, I might just buy a patented one! This is a great tutorial, however. One that I will use if I ever get the chance!
Gosh, just what I was looking for! Finallllyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :DDDDDD
Can't tell if sarcasm or not
Looks cool good work 😍
This is really cool😀🙏
Baking powder helps super glue set instantly, as well as adds more material for structural purposes.
Thanks! Good to know.
Very, very nice! How can you can you only have like 430 Subs ? Your content is really great :)
Thank you, suppose we all have to start somewhere :)
Wasn't too long ago since I had 50 subs, so despite my channel growing fairly slowly, it is at least growing!
Good fun Sir, good fun. Thanks much, pierre from New Mexico
I just like watching these but i never make them!😂😂
Shiza Shaikh what do u mean
Good job, congrats man
Thanks and sorry for the late answer.
where r you from?
His accent sounds like scandinavia.
Eloines well i later found out he is finnish kinda like i am (which is exactly what i thought) finns arent scandinavian although that is a very common misconception
It looks great. you can make more and sell them if you want. it's an original wooden fidget cube. amazing
It would'nt be worth the time, but thanks for the nice comment!
LetsBuildIt thanks for replying. 😀
honestly impressed though ;) Looks superb
You could put one of the finger grooves/worry stones/dents on one of the sides
First time I see a thingy like this. What's the purpose of it?
Fiddle, I guess. Doesn't get used a lot by me anyway. This project was mainly meant as a fun challenge.
That is actually really good!!!👻🎃😸
Cool that u made it that's talent
lol u said lets start we re not gonne watch it for allday XD
and nice love it
