I feel like the addition of genitalia, which you can choose irregardless of body type (along with voice type), is great for trans players to make a character that can be, in a small way, representative of themselves. It’s a nice inclusion, even just looking past when/if it comes up during intimate scenes.
Maybe so, but I'm unsure if adding genitals to a game is a great addition over all though.
If I might be curious, why? It's purely optional and personaly I'd like to think, that apart from realism more options is something we might all be able to agree upon that it's good to have in a character creator. At least from where I'm standing.@@garmrbanalras2579
Honestly, if dreadwoof comes out and Catie doesn't have internett, that's when we start a patrion to fund her renting an office to stream and play da at.
There was a disappointingly low level of dinosaur noises in the post-mix audio. Please re-add that sound into a later video at your earliest convenience.
Split the veil, dinosaur cut
Seriously considering this next time dino action is happening lol
Honestly I am just glad Dreadwolf and BG3 didn't come out around the same time... I'm probably gonna be playing BG3 til the end of the year if not longer though lol
54:00 I barely got any banter. My playthrough took about 95 hours and I remember hearing banter maybe 5 times? No sure why banter didn't trigger in my game.
56:50 Yeah, I just scrolled instagram while waiting for my turn. Some of the battles took sooo long.
Welcome to Split the Veil! Listen to baby Ghil going Dinoroar!
Edit: While mommy is talking about video game penises.
As I was editing I realized - baby Ghil did in fact come through the audio lmao. She's the third co-host lol
This game is 10/10. My only two minor complaints are the camera doesn't always work (fighting teleporting spiders in a very vertical cave was annoying) and inventory management isn't great. But it's very good, and I agree that it feels like DAO on steroids.
Maybe Starfield will knock it out of the park, but right now it looks like Game Of The Year to me.
I think you might be right about GotY
I got BG3 this weekend, and when I actually started playing I realised that I spent 4 hours in character creation 😂
Woo, new podcast dropped!
(I love this podcast, and I'm really enjoying playing bsg3... more episodes about this game, plz?)
Thanks so much! It's a distinct possibility we will do more BG3 content down the road

(Oh God, they actually do read these, play it cool)
Awesome! :D
31:20 when you talked about the practice runs I never felt so seen before. Played for like 14 hours over the weekend as a couple different characters just playing around seeing what the game was like before I settled on my actual playthrough I just started right when I saw you released the newest episode here.
It's a real thing and I loved doing it! I wish every RPG, even those that don't have a full blown early access would release the character creator and tutorial level a few days early so people can do this.
I've been playing a Half-Orc wild sorcerer and romancing Karlach, it's been a lot of fun.
Half orcs look so cool in this game!
I don't think any game has ever lived up to my expectations more.
One thing that has stood out to me is companion relationships. Most RPGs have usually always been friend/foe/lover. You unlock one of those paths and you see that story. With BG3 I've seen completely different scenes with the same companions. For example if you pick one sub class of a cleric it changes a bunch of dialogue with Shadowheart because of the god you follow. That's alot of effort to add for a what 1/70 possible subclass choice. Not only that but you'd be playing as the same class as Shadowheart so the chances you'd actual have that combo is even lower.
Fantasy Costco! It’s always great when one of your favorite podcasts reference another of your favorite podcasts
I would looove to hear/see Ghil Dirthalens experience with Final Fantasy 14 🙏
"Do the Genitalia pop up anywhere?" -- I see what you did there, Jordan.
I waited until I was able to get the game before listening to this. I really appreciate your being mindful of spoilers.
I don't think background options actually give you dialogue options. They give you Inspiration points and goals to work towards to, but not actual choices
I feel like I remember having one for noble but I may be remembering it wrong.
@ExaltedMarch yeah they do give you options. I get them for being from Baldur's Gate all the time. But maybe some don't get any.
There's a mod that allows you to play in 3rd person using the WASD keys instead of click to move ,it worked perfectly for me without any issues.
Just putting that out there for anyone who might be interested :)
I could never get into D&D, but dimension20 did a campaign with drag queens and it was one of the funniest things I've seen. I've been wanting to get more into D&D but know that doing the actual tabletop isn't for me, so Baldur's gate coming out was perfectly timed lol. Just got the game and about to delve into that universe for the first time!
It's a great intro to DnD - and a great video game overall
If it makes you feel better Caitie, I'm playing BG3 on a gaming laptop that hasn't been updated since 2015. The game runs pretty well on it, but it did let me know that my graphics drivers are out of date and the game won't be fully optimized for it. Other than that though, I'm not experiencing a horrid playthrough by any means, aside from bugs.
Also, love that you guys brought up DnD's resurgence because I'm experiencing that big time right now. I just started a new job and got invited to a DnD game my first week, it's wild.
I think gw2 has the nicest mmorpg community i have encountered so far
I spent 5 years and hundreds of dollars in GW2. No regrets. Made amazing friends.
Definitely up for more BG3 and FF14 content
Could very well happen =)
Got two characters going, a Tiefling Paladin I'm playing on coop with my wife and a warlock-fighter I'm playing solo with. Having a great time. It definitly feels like the game I've been waiting a decade for even if it isn't "Dragon Age".
Also yes my character never shuts tf up 😂
Glad to hear you are giving ffxiv a try! Hope you enjoy it.
SPOILERS FOR THE GAME'S ENDING
Saved this podcast episode for when I'm finished and I just finished the game last night.
I liked it a lot! The characters were good and interesting and the world was pretty easy to understand as someone who had no prior knowledge of DnD.
To me the worst parts of the game was inventory management, the game not knowing what my character does or doesn't know, and bugs in the later part of the game. Especially the final battle was super bugged. So to me the ending was really a let down.
Also, I feel like leveling up worked in a weird way. I played on story mode so battles are supposed to be easy but I still found them challenging. Probably because a turn based battle is completely new to me and honestly I'm not that good at video games (lol).
When I got my character to lvl 12, all the battles got way too easy. Figting Gortash and Orin was sooo easy. Orin literally took under 10 minutes. It really felt like reaching lvl 12 made my character way overpowered.
Say the words. Say the words! SAY IT: “This is the Dragon Age game we always wanted!” Well, I’ll say it. My opinion only.
You're not totally wrong - I'm here for whatever DA Dreadwolf ends up being, but in a way you're right about BG3
@@ExaltedMarch :)
I only got BG3 a month late (new pc took longer to arrive than planned lol) but this game has absolutely consumed my life I have 3 playthroughs going ATM lmao
I just wanna throw my hat in for the genitals customization saying it's pretty great to just have the option if you want to make a trans character or if you yourself are trans, it's a nice bit of inclusivity. Also I wanted to make a more lithe male dragonborn so I picked the lady body type and everything else male :p
Meh, I’d be impressed if it was Baldur’s Gate 4. You see, it’s more impressive bc the name has a 4 in it, and 4 is > 3. So it’d be bigger s as d betterer.
I couldn’t play this game much, BG3 is by far the ugliest fantasy world I’ve ever seen. The art style burns my eyes. Everything else was okay, companions were mostly cringe but the artistic style combined with point and click really ruined it. Especially immersion. Then again, I didn’t like divinity much either, although a bit more than this. Origins still reigns top as fantasy RPG. Especially in lore, art and characters
If the character models are already nude, then what are the modders going to do?
As far as this game goes, I'm kind of undecided. I really don't feel like learning another version of D&D. My first version was the three booklet boxed set, after all and went up to the 3rd edition. The intro trailer also put me off. Any of the critters in the ship or attacking the ship should have been able to stomp on a first level character. Too much Deux ex Machina for my taste.
That said, it has been 9 years since Inquisition.
I highly recommend playing the game, it is very easy to pick up and you aren't fighting dragons and mind flayers at first level don't worry.
There's an actual reason the characters that survived survived. Hell you even see this at the end of the prologue when you're falling to your death and something or someone saves you.
Like the bear sex is an obvious meme. And the genitals, yeah like Game of Thrones first aired 12 years ago (and it and the witcher got published in the early 90s) and DAO had sex scenes in 2009. Sex and sexuality have been big parts of dark fantasy for a long time now, the first thing the game asks you is if you want the nudity or not and the game is R rated. Time to be adults about this.
Yeah but the industry as a whole has become more and more prudish. CDPR has been one of the few to push against that.
