Very good video! Thank you for the insight on dying and touching up the stag. I really enjoy your content in channel. Love those old vintage pocket knives.
Man, that is some awesome jack knife collection. How do you get that bone to shine like that? All your stuff, ax handles, old steel, bone look so good... I get the linseed oil, neatsfoot oil, old english oil etc. all the old methods but dried bone I need help, Rogue Blade...out
@@RogueBlade-w5 thanks my friend. The oil I use on Cutlery now is -- Balistol’ . Non toxic. Developed by German scientists during wW-1. Awesome stuff. Use in on blades and The bone, wood handles. Even leather. One spray can lasts months. On some old bone & wood handles I stabilize with Medium Star bond super glue. Seals up the pores and leaves a beautiful deep luster with shine. Linseed oil on axe handles but occasionally on old tool axe handles I will get the old handle linseed up good. Then spray can a few coats of out door polyurethane even when linseed oil is not fully dry. It seems to blend with the L O and gives a great tool handle finish that holds up well
@@scottrulka6587 thanks for watching. Oh yeah I stumbled on the Doc when He first started his channel! Fun watching the hunts. There’s new channels popping up often. There’s about 20 I watch fairly regularly. Best! Dwayne
@@Walkingman.45 that’s a great Question. I guess you could Technically say yes. Big folding Hunter’s have been around for probably since early mid 1800’s. Well over a century ago. Germany produced huge folding hunting knives. Sheffield also. Even though some of those Jumbo jacks’ are about same size as the Western 62. Most longtime knife collectors myself included would say big folding Hunters like Bucks would not be considered Jack /pocket knives . They would classify as folding Belt knives ! Most were sold with a leather belt sheath. Most today consider big folder like Bucks , Schrade’s etc as Folding hunters . I’m in that camp. Great question. Thanks for asking. Dwayne

PKT-would you classify double bladed folding hunters, such as western 62 or case folding hunters, as jacks?

Excellent explanation PKT. I appreciate seeing these old models, quite a bit of creativity was going on back in the day.
