He's truly one of the musical greats of this millennium, and I don't just mean like the Beatles and Bob Dylan, but like Mozart and Bach. The guy is crazy talented and understand composition better than any modern musician I've ever heard.
the first song that told me Rufus Wainwright was an outstanding talent was Imaginary Love. I've seen him maybe twelve times in concert. Never met him though I live in Montreal.
it must have been really hard for him to sit down and plead for something so incredibly impossible, jeff to come back,i cannot keep my mind on this thought not even for a moment, let alone to dwell on that for years.because his song is going to haunt us all for ever.rufus can be very unhappy sometimes, sweetly though.i cried about the ophelia metaphor.Jesus!he's a master in words and ideas.
Such a beautiful, very sad song, the first Rufus' song that I have ever heard - it was a rainy November 17th night of 2010 - and I became extremely addicted to his music :-)
Weird world. It's 4 in the morning and I woke up because I was starving. While preparing myself a meal, I was singing Memphis Skyline in my head. With my plate I came in my office, started eating in fron the my computer and got a message saying that a comment about Rufus had been posted ! Being myself a songwriter, I wrote a tribute song to Rufus a couple of years ago, but I never played it in public yet.
This song is gonna be in my school's version of 'Metamorpheses.' (Though i'm sure it'll do the original no justice.) I'm pretty stoked. It's a beautiful piece, full of passion.
he actually met once jeff, when he was like 20. by the time the people at sin-é wouldn't let him perform, because they had jeff. they talked for a while.
hmm...i'd say almost as pivotal. but i hear you about the passion he had and how that seems to connect with musicians and performers most of all. but his musicianship was phenomenal, also. and he should be commended for that for sure.
killer. this song is about jeff buckley, whose hallelujah rufus covered. (well, not really buckley's song, it's leonard cohen's, but buckley effectively owns it.)
at first i thought this was one hell of a boring song.. even though i knew it was dedicated and about jeff buckley who were the greatest of em all. anyways.. do any one know how they knew/knew of each other? bring it on on afeine1's comment. some guy said: "morrissey is a man trapped inside of a womans body" and I guess it fits into jeff as well. awesomely
Great song, fantactic meanings, awful, dreadful diction. Ruind the performance. Someone of this standard should be able to express his words clearly. Shocking, and a shame.
I adore Jeff Buckley, and to hear such a wonderful artist like Rufus Wainwright pay a gorgeous tribute to him just touches my heart.

It's amazing how he weaved together the stories of Orpheus and Eurydice and Hamlet to tap into his story. It's so sad.
jeff is an angel rip jeff!
He is the best. He sings with so much of his soul.
Great pianist too
i keep coming back. Not a huge fan, have only one album. However, this is on that album and I just am so greatful to hear it live!

Rufus is so kind when you get to meet him. I got to in August this year. He's just fantastic!
Dorothy Parker, agreed. I have met him many (like 15) times and he has alway been very gracious.
RIP Jeff.... It's been 13 years
I miss him too.
Simply gorgeous. Rufus makes me melt to the ground with that voice.

TOTALLY AGREE ! Same ranking for me. What would be your third favorite song ? That one's tough... mine would probably be Hometown Waltz or Im my arms.
All we really want, is Jeff to return....

Not sure if you know this, but November the 17th is Jeff Buckley's birthday.
I think this is my second favourite Rufus song, after Poses.

yes, and morrissey said to that guy that he's "a pig trapped in a man's body" ;)
@jackattackx5225 ~ haha :)
Is Rufus gay? Not that it matters, but I was just wondering.
Lexis6, yes, and he says “I was never in. I was born in the living room.”
i cant understand a goddamn word

it's ok that you don't get it.
