Awesome. You can definitely use 18 or 20 g wire. The paperclips I use are 3 3/4 inches when open but you can cut your wire longer to be sure!

Hi Kelley. Yes, you can make this with half hard or hard silver. You may have to hammer it with a plastic mallet after made to stiffen the wire so it will hold in place. Good luck!
