Awesome. You can definitely use 18 or 20 g wire. The paperclips I use are 3 3/4 inches when open but you can cut your wire longer to be sure!

Wonderful idea to paint the ring. You may be able to spray it with a few light coats of acrylic enamel or even nail polish. I'm going to try it thanks to your suggestion!

When I was a little kid and found a paper clip I got so happy because I thought one day I’d find out how to make like an awsome ring but the ones that I would find were so flimsy and they would snap lol so I never did 💀 but now I will find a good paper clip or just buy one because I’ve got money now ig 😃
