    Nick Cave is an interview God!
    "Well I would like to have some more kids, write some more songs..."
    But beyond the sarcasm, very good clip!

    I love it what he said I'd like to be left alone, have more kids and write more songs. I lost it when he said that. This is a great version live he sang this live when I saw him a few years it was great, I wish he would sing the Carny live but he never does.

  • @gabaunion
    @gabaunion 15 лет назад +3

    Her name is Hikaru Nishida. She was a singer in Japan years ago a few Japanese people may know of her. Not that famous.
    I would say that the comments went largely over her head, while she was trying to translate, but may have started to register toward the end. Leave alone is 'hotte oite' , it always comes across badly, regardless of the context it is put.

    I really hated the traffic in the background!- it really spoils my fantasy about Nick playing this on top of the world or smthn... but on the other hand, it shows just how great the contrast is between art and the places it can take you, and an everyday crowds with all their phobic traffic jams! Love you Nick!

    Good eye, it's definitely Warren Ellis on violin. He didn't join the band officially until Boatman's Call ('97) but guested from '94 on. Cave played this song for awhile, though, so not that surprising that there's a version with Ellis on it.

    Nick Cave's never been one to suffer fools gladly but on this occasion he can be forgiven as this was filmed shortly after his breakup with PJ Harvey. When viewed in that context the interviewers enquiry into Nick's "personal life" no longer seems quite so innocent nor Nick's request to be "left alone" arrogant. Also explains Nick's unusually sombre, almost sorrowful rendition of Mercy Seat.

    • @juliettewilliams4298
      @juliettewilliams4298 5 лет назад

      I don't agree. There was a marked period of time before splitting up with her and meeting Suzy Bick. And then another period of time after they married and before the twins were born. Check your facts.

    • @johnarundell7951
      @johnarundell7951 4 года назад +1

      @@juliettewilliams4298 Nick had children before meeting Susie Bick. Check your facts. This is 1999, his twins with Susie were born in 2000, so he is referring to his first 2 sons who were both born in 1991 to different mothers. Nothing to do with PJ here though that was just a brief fling in the mid '90s, "when viewed in that context" the original comment here is just nonsense and nothing but a figment of the guy's imagination, apart from the not suffering fools bit obviously. Nick doesn't need to "be forgiven" for his answers in any case.

    I'm not sure if he ment they to fuck off by "to be left alone" or if he just ment it in general. I think he seems hungover or jetlagged and was just surprised and taken off guard by the fact that the person was talking in english and asking him questions, but he could have just been in a bad mood.
    either way, nick rocks
