I had the opportunity to meet and briefly chat with bell hooks when I was in college, and honestly the whole interaction was magical. The way that even that memory serves as a touchstone for grounding is immaculate
Gorgeous handwriting. You just have to get back in the groove. It will definitely come back to you. Lovely scarf. Have a wonderful day! Thanks for keeping in that last bit.
You reminded me of all the notebooks I filled with copied wisdom from other authors, all their words that made my life make a bit of sense to me. I’d love to hear how the practice goes for you and what you gained from it. Perhaps that’s what I need to do to restart my blog, which fell by the wayside when I began posting photos on the kinder, gentler, pre-Meta Instagram. That fleece! It glowed from inside the box. It’s the first time I thought that I might want to process fleece if it meant I could get my hands on something as beautiful as that. Sending you Solstice Blessings as we celebrate the turning of the year and the returning of the light. May all good things for your body, mind, heart, and spirit flow your way! May you celebrate and support your creative spirit every day! Ashay!
And to you as well, dear Janet. Thank you for being one of the souls the universe must have sent to keep the light on for me while I middle my way through the dark. I’m so grateful for you.
@@stitchesandstarlight You warmed my heart with your reply. I am grateful that our paths have met, and I hope they continue to entwine as we find our ways by moonlight and starlight.
My jaw literally dropped when you opened up that fleece. I just. It’s absolutely gorgeous 😍. I was also a homeschooled kiddo who did so much copy work. It definitely helps your writing practice grow and become something you really love because it becomes this amalgamation of everything you love. One of my favorite things to copy is poetry and speeches from turn of the century. This is actually making me want to go back to copy work because my writing abilities have definitely suffered from not utilizing that skill!
Hey, that’s really cool to know! I might actually start a second book of poetry as well - I love the rhythms of words and I have a few anthologies that would be great company.
Wow. I had no idea copywork could do that. I've never really thought about it as a thing people do to practice their own craft. That's wild. I used to be a prolific reader, and as I've gotten older, it's gotten more difficult to find the time and the focus to do that. And as a result, I also feel like I've lost my vocabulary and my ability to craft stories that I used to write constantly as a kid.I might have to adopt this practice. That fleece is so so stunning! I would also add my name to the list of people who would love to see Snuggles be processed. Greylyn befriending a fox is so real. Who wouldn't want to be besties with a fox? Happy Solstice!
catching up with the last vlogmas posts that i missed while doing the family holiday, and a) omg what a gorgeous fleece, and b) i started keeping a (hand-written) journal when i was 13, which was a million years ago, and by total chance i'll be writing on the last page of my current book today (although i don't slavishly write every day, i'm fairly sure i'll have something to say here at year's end, as it's Dec 31) and starting a new one tomorrow with the new year. so three cheers for hand-writing in any form! it's definitely where my own writing abilities have been slowly honed over the years... and happiest of happy new years to you! looking forward to your continued various shenanigans in 2024!
Please please do more content on your writing and reading habits!! You have no idea how much inspiration and comfort you brought me on a very ark day. Lots of love xx
I don’t know if you know this but I’ve started a Substack to share more of my writing - the link is in the more recent videos up on the channel if you want to follow along.
Omg that fleece looks scrumptious. I want to squish. Very glad you were able to get a great night's sleep. I hope the solstice and the nights to come are peaceful and full of rest for you friend 🌟
I’ve actually shared my scouring process a few times on the channel and I don’t do anything revolutionary - just wash and lay on a sweater drying mat till it’s dry.
Oh yeah! Oh yeah, I get the irony. Laughing at the situation not you. I'd love to see you spin up the Fungus among us and the sheep wool even if you don't have anything planned for the yarn.
Lol at future Tazhi coming in to cut off people making comments. Also, that lip balm that came with your leather, is it actually conditioner for the leather maybe? I got some for my Docs forever ago, and it last so long, so I could see a tiny amount being sent with amazing products like those. That fleece is GORGEOUS! So jealous (well, I say that as someone who has never processed a fleece). Happy Solstice!
I’m always slightly envious of spinners in the US - y’all have so many dyers, farmers and fibre people! For whatever reason, shipping from the US to Canada often costs more than the product, so it’s all just slightly out of reach 🥲 I love living vicariously through others’ happy mail though 😂
I have my fingers crossed for you! I know of a few Canadian fiber dyers, like Emily Gilles and Cosy Posy Yarn Co and Melissa and Brittany of Crux Fibres are in Canada so lots of options for you!

I learned about bell hooks this semester, and her work is so impactful and important

That fleece was gorgeous. It looked almost silver,

Happy Solstice to you friend! Here’s to the returning sun and to always finding the light.

Thank you so much! Same to you and yours.
Ooooh would love to see the steps you take to wash and dry the fleece. I feel like mine never looks as good as everyone else’s when they are dry 😢

happy solstice

I got the same Fungus Among Us set to spin for the Traveler Shawl 😊😊😊 I can’t wait to see what you do with it!
Okay well now I have to make it! I’m flying through my first one and I could easily see another one jumping onto the needles.

It’s actually labeled on their site as lip and leather balm so we’re both right? Wild.
Also happy solstice to you as well. Cheers to the light.
@@stitchesandstarlight Ha! I think my leather balm is mostly lanolin, which is also what I put on my lips, so I can see it being both.
Honestly, who HASN'T wanted to befriend a fox? 😊
If you decide you would rather sell off your accidental sparkle bats than pick out the sparkle, hit me up!
That fungus among is 🤤
