What a breath of fresh air. Please carry on making videos. Too many charlatans put there pretending they know about watches, but in fact are more clueless than most of their viewers.
shaykhriyadh Thank you for your kind words! I try to keep it honest, enthusiastic, and present each watch as though I were a collector of the type. This way, I can be clear about the features, the history, and present the watch in the best possible light. Above all, I try to be sincere at all times. Best, Tim
Greetings sir. I have an early 70’s Red Sub. It works perfectly. I am considering taking it to Rolex to have it serviced however I do not understand much about the vintage watch world and do not know if it will lose value after being serviced. Would you share tour thoughts with me in the matter? Thank you not sure if I can include a picture of it.
Hi Luis - You can have the watch serviced, but make sure to used an authorized Rolex service center and be sure to tell them not to replace any external parts (even the crown). Vintage Rolexes need to remain original to hold their value. Thanks for watching!
Question! : I am struggling right now..... Just bought a 1680white, and I am dying to get money to pay extra 4-5 grand more for a red Sub. But I dont have that budget right now. A rolex dealer offer me a solution. He said i can buy a red sub dail and put it in to my white 1680. I dont know if it a right move. Please give me some advice. I know deep inside I want the red sub, or is it okay to switch the dail for temporary? Or isnt worth it to buy a extra red dail ? Please help me
Yen-Chen Lin if it’s post 4mio serial number then don’t waste your money as the are all white. If below 4mio, make sure the offered dial mark matches with the serial number. If service dial luminova don’t touch it imho. Check double red sea dweller website to see what dial fits with what SN. Best is to sell the white and save for a correct red.... that Rolex dealer sounds a bit dodgy switching out an original dial for a non- period correct replacement tbh
hello just a question,i have a rolex watch 1680 IV.72 with the red submariner my question is,is this dial supposed to have the white letter or red? any idea the value? thank you for you help
changoleon292 red,.. if white replacement $12k, if original mk 4 red dial $24k... don’t you hate it when Rolex switch out a dial and effectively rob you of $10k?
The “S’ on word submariner, not the superlative, I think.... check the website; double-red sea dweller for the 6 red dial side by side comparison. Btw you van add metal back to the watch.... Google laser-welding by classicwatchrepair of HK. I am juicing up the tooth pick like lugs of a 1960 5512 as I type
Bas Q. Thank you! It was a real surprise to see this arrive on my desk. True vintage is a relatively small part of our business, but when we do choose to acquire a vintage watch for inventory, OJ tends to favor hardcore investment pieces. I'm definitely spoiled... Best, Tim
Wouldn't that be the 1570 movement? The 1575 was the GMT version in the 1675 which I have however is still stamped 1570 on the bridge. Another debatable topic is what production year did the hacking feature officially start. My 1675 GMT hacks and is a 277XXXX serial number which places it at a 1970 production.
I have a 1967 Red Sub and I paid $245 for it in the box in 1971.

@@the1916company you guys have no shame. Instead of praising his watch alone, you attempted to sway it from him.
Nice Video! So what is the worth of this beautifull watch in 2021? Thank you!
I could listen to you talk about watches all day...come to think about it, I DO! haha amazing

WatchBox Studios thank you. I sent it to Rolex in NY with the instructions you gave. Very Grateful. 🙏
Why service a flawless working watch? Just keep your money for when it finally conks out

Hello, how much does this watch cost?
Still love my Red Sub Date, purchased new on St. Thomas in 1975 for $380.
The condition is really amazing...
I wish I could actually see more of the watch than your 2 hands.
Cant Rolex just re issue it?
Is it handwindable as well?
