I bought a used 3MA earlier this year. It ran poorly and had that throttle dip (flooding) problem at first, but after about a 2-4 weeks of daily riding, I haven't had any problems since. I've been commuting to work for the last 8 months and to the mountains on Sundays; have yet to change the plugs or touch the carburetor other than to adjust the idle screw. No she idles and hustles without a hitch. It's one of the most enjoyable bikes I've owned yet.
Don't forget that the 3ma is a replica of the tz250W model. The engine and cylinder timing compere with the 2ma was a huge change. a 2ma (not changing the cylindertiming) you'l be happy if you get a 50+hp a 3ma (not changing the cylindertiming) you can get a 60+Hp We talking about a 10+ hp in difference. To ride a bike with that kind of cylindertiming gave problems for the normal bike riders, as you say. Fore me the tzr3ma is racing bike pursang, came directly from the race track. Cheers
Hi, as you know what your talking about may I ask your advice,, im taking delivery of a TZR250 3ma 5 next week and wanted to know what to look out for, are there any real issues with these/weaknesses? Whats best gear /engine oil for these? bike lying-up for few years so drain gear oil, maybe clean out oil tank? brakes/usual stuff? What would you do/look for?
yes it goes a 200+ but that is not interesting, its the fun you have driving this baby. A modern 600 will overtake me on top speed with no effort ad all. But if we take two plug caps off the 600, see who is winning then Cheers
i love the look of the 3ma but lets be honest yamaha really throgh it together and they suffer with terrible flooding problems and the oil pump is atrocious, and there always fouling there plugs there basically pants but interesting!!! lol
