We had the opportunity to tag along with Jimmy Jones on race day to see his new 2015 Silverado 3500HD in action. With his enclosed race trailer and dragster in tow, this Peters Elite dually had no problem maintaining highway speeds all the way to the track. Loaded with convenient tow mirrors and the rear backup camera, trailer hookup was a snap and made for effortless preparation for the day at the track.
This build features the Duramax/Allison engine/trans combo rated at 397HP/765TQ and capable of hauling 20,000lbs at the bumper. A Cognito Leveling Kit was installed, along with Fox Shocks, 36" Nitto Terra Grapplers on 24" powder coated American Force Wheels. Amp Powerboards and LED Taillights were also added.

EliteOps101 Farming With all due respect, they really are quite bad. They don't respond to mods nearly as well as Cummins or Powerstroke, they don't make the same stock power or torque as Cummins or Powerstroke, they're not nearly as well built, and thus less reliable than Cummins or Powerstroke, and don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure they don't get the same fuel mileage as Cummins or Powerstroke. GM has great truck engines, so you can't really blame them for Isuzu's mistakes with Duramax. Regardless of with which brand your loyalty lies, they're just an objectively inferior engine to Cummins or Powerstroke. Sorry, that's just how it is.

EliteOps101 Farming No, it doesn't, that's just what GM says to sell trucks. One single Cummins could probably win a tug of war with 2 Duramax trucks. The Duramax only makes 397 HP and 765 Ft/Lb which is less torque and HP than Powerstroke, and over 100 Ft/Lb less torque than Cummins, it also makes it's max torque at a much higher RPM than Powerstroke and Cummins, which isn't what you want with a Diesel. Not to mention how GM's recent transmissions have a tendency to blow up from what I've heard. So no, they're blatantly lying about having best in class towing.

Its weird to think that people in texas probably use their remote starts to let the AC kick in and COOL their truck down. Quite the opposite up north haha
Haha....we've definitely been using the remote start for defrost the past couple of weeks. It's been CHILLY.....relative to Texas of course 😜😂
100% correct, i live in texas and there may be 5-10 days a year i have to use remote start because i need to run the defroster but you can bet your ass everyday from the end april til the end of september i use it for AC lol

Justin Waite stock specs.... Stock truck. 765lb ft of torque. No tune. All stock powertrain, its not rocket science
Bradley Goodrich I don't think this truck is stock under the hood. The exhaust sounds like a 5" straight, most likely egr and dpf deleted, at 1:56 you can see the soot that exits the exhaust.
@@bradleygoodrich5569 my sarcasm was aimed at the tittle claiming this lifted dually to be "ultimate tow rig" when..you have a dually lifted..making it useless for any 5thwheel or gooseneck without lifting the trailer...putting 22" rims on which are 4" minimum bigger than what came stock which makes your gearing out of whack ...and to top it off you are using a aluminum adjustable hitch...sure they look good but I would never trust a piece of aluminum to tow anything more than a jet ski... again..my sarcasm is aimed at your claim of "ultimate tow rig"...not hard to figure out.
Justin Waite i agree. And yes it does look like its deleted at the very least the DPF and SCR and straight piped it. Most likely the EGR too.

Did you experience any sort of trailer sway from cross winds, or passing trucks pulling that massive 32' enclosed bumper pull trailer without equalizer/sway control bars? Even with a dually truck, trailer sway is still a big concern, especially with a maxed out 32' bumper pull.
sirkingdra due to sway a weight distribution hitch with sway control is advised. I recommend the Anderson hitch with the chains instead of bars. It is much more compact and works quite well

You can go that route. The owner opted not to for aesthetic purposes. It would reduce the potential for rock chips.

low profile tires hurt a trucks towing capabilities so no not the ultimate towing truck
why would a low pro tire hurt its hauling capabilities it doesn't matter about low pro or not just the grade rubber all of my oversize load trailers are low pro all car haulers are low pro its the grade of rubber
+Thomas Schroepfer there are no side walls to support the weight with low profile tires and I don't think trailers come with low pro tires...
+Buckyme the air inside the tire is actually what does most of the load bearing, not the sidewall. As long as the tire has the proper load rating for the weight your towing having a Lo pro tire won't hurt you.

nice truck set up I'm looking at a gmc denali dually duramax soon as next month but it looks like it needs the leveling kit added which one of the cognito kits did you get. would you suggest getting air bags on the rear as well. what mileage are you getting pulling that trailer thanks

I've had it almost 2yrs. all I've done is rally stripes, tonneau cover, bug guard and low profile rain gaurd, iron cross HD steps. next is the bar light for the front but I'm trying to have a custom mount built that will hook to the windshield so I don't have to drill holes ( that scares the hell out of me ) , then rims I want the Gear alloy manifold rims, maybe the cab spoiler on the back and idk what exhaust or intake to use ... your input would be appreciated on what mods I should go with or stay away from. thank you

rekjavicxxx Nahhh , I got a gasser. Living in the city I think getting fuel for a dirtymax would be a pain and I only tow a 2500lb boat a few times a year at the most 900 miles one direction so she does what I need comfortably.
