A private lot? If you have an accident in a private lot, the police won't deal with it, they'll tell you to take it up with your insurance companies.

Fire lanes are mandated by the state to give priority access of emergency vehicles including police,fire and ambulances at places of business where the public has access. Obviously from all the people with tickets they had a serious problem with people parking in the fire lane. Whether you agree with me or not this solves the problem.

In response to the comments that said the residents should just obey the law, the fact of the matter is, the residents did not break the law! Did you not listen to the report? Did you not hear the complaints?
That is a privately owned strip mall with a huge parking lot with plenty of parking that does not have any No Parking signs, except that one column that has a Fire Lane sign on it. Even in the early evening when people get off work and on the weekend when most people are off work, that parking lot is NEVER full. So, how in the heck that many people are going to have parking violations during the night???
And since when did a parking ticket cost $500!!!??? and will double unless paid in 24 hours? That's more than what is charged for a moving violation! Furthermore, by law, Illinois citizens have 25 days to pay a parking ticket (as well as all other traffic tickets) before it doubles!
Those tickets are just as bogus as all the other low down dirty crap that the Administration in that Village does to steal money from the taxpaying citizens.

I remember when Dolton was very well ran. Back in the 70’s-late 90’s . Once white flight took place it slammed into a pole. Today you can see what happens when hood ppl get ahold of a town. Funny thing is I bet they vote her right back in.
It was a great town b4 this mayor term. No this is the result of letting a woman be in charge. Especially a single mother. Every single person ticketed should ask for a jury trial. That will tie up court proceedings for years just based the amount of people there. They may even have trouble finding enough people for all those juries.

These are real violations. I’ve seen a cop in Maryland give somebody a $250 ticket for parking at the fire lane even though her daughter was in the car and her car was running. She went inside a restaurant to pick up her order. You can’t just leave your car there.
And that is a proper violation. Not parking or stoping means just that!

Parking in handicap or fire lane on private property is normally a $50 to $100 ticket. No way should it be $500.
