- Over the past few weeks I have been researching and putting the items needed to conduct range testing of my airborne relay/repeater concept. The testing didn't go as planned however, that is why it's called testing. Don't worry we love learning and growing here at Ravenwood Acres!

Might be of interest to you for this type of project. Alley cat who designs 3d printed cases has made a saddle for this drone to take meshtek up like your doing with this project. If you look up random alley cat on youtube you should be able to find the relevant video that im talking about
This is her design here ruclips.net/video/NFLMW1uh-b8/видео.htmlsi=UxnpHAqF3yiO4GhO
Found the video she released the other day with the saddle, seems the drone was a newer version though ruclips.net/video/NFLMW1uh-b8/видео.htmlsi=UxnpHAqF3yiO4GhO
cough kite cough ;)
Looking forward to your next test! I have a handful of Lora devices coming, and have part 107 drone license.. I’m going to play with different mounts for my mini 3 pro
Thanks for the feedback. I think my next step should be getting my part 107 license. The VROL drone are pretty cool and would lend themselves well to carrying a communication payload.
When do you plan on doing and showing the next test? what type of range are you hoping or thinking you'll get? I'm curious what applications this might be useful for aside from typical radio communications in an area with varying terrain. Good video overall man
It the weather holds, I will complete my next test this Saturday. Test site 1 is 4.8 miles from my home. Site 2 is about the same. The idea is to cover 10 miles of radius of the city I live outside of. The whole concept to see if using a drone is a viable solution to temporary comms coverage of an area. On paper, it works, but I want to prove it.
This is a great idea. I live in a hilly area and having a drone take off with one waypoint 200 feet up and land land dead center in my backyard would pretty much solve my emergency comms for my family.
Exactly, glad I could help!
You should try with a balloon!
I have considered that but haven't researched the option yet.
