Just bought this PC through Amazon. Have had it for 3 weeks now, and wow it is a beast of a PC. Love it so much already.
Awesome, great to hear you're loving it too! It is a beast, definitely the best desktop PC I've personally ever owned.
Great video as always, wow beast PC.. 👍
Thank you sir, yeah I was thinking of slapping a label on it "Mr. Beast" 😀
i am so glad I found this video before i went ahead and bought the ibuypower version of this build. it's a 700 watt psu for something that needs 850 at the minimum. this one has (according to the site) an 1000 watt supply. buying extra ram is much easier than replacing a non-modular psu.
really hoping to see some virtual pinball manufacturers displaying and demoing their machines at the upcoming Pintastic Expo in Marlborough, Massachusetts this April
Wow. Nice dektop!
I just got my Addams Family w/SSF pre-installed, but I still got to assemble it. In addition, I got for my Christmas/Birthday present, plus a bit of my own money, a new computer that will be able to run these OTG pinball tables. I look forward to getting things to work together. The delay in assembly of the Addams Family 4K is trying to find room to put them in the same vincinity since the computer is not just for pinball 😮
Sounds like you're all ready to go for some pinball action! Had one individual recently mention adding an HDMI switch for the HDIM input going into the playfield display. I picked one up and will be giving that a try, along with a longer OTG cable to go to a kvm switch. Something like that may be helpful for you if your gaming monitor isn't near the 4KP. Let me know once you get the 4KP assembled/PC connected what you think, always enjoy hearing feedback.
That tower is down right massive!
It's a beast for sure!
As a tip - it would be helpful to have a frame counter going (steam overlay or from the graphics card).
The ALP screen is locked at 60 and this 4070 can easily do that all day - but at least with a counter we can see what its able to actually hit over 60. Vsync on/off? What were the DLSS settings in the menu? Benchmarks are great, but they don't show you how smooth each game will be. A fps counter, at a minimum, will help as will toggling common graphic settings around to show what this thing can do.
Thank you, I appreciate the feedback and will add fps in the upcoming dedicated PC Setup video. The settings I used can be found here: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k-pcsetup/#Settings (and more on the page)
Great video Jon! That Pre-Built is almost the same specs of the last PC build I did in December. I really love the panoramic PC case and the RGB lights! Your gonna love that RTX 4070 its a beast! The RTX 4070 is fantastic for 4K video editing and of course gaming as well! The i9 and the 16GB of DDR5 RAM will work well into the future! By the way, the game play is very crisp and looks pretty smooth! What FPS were you getting? Great PC purchase Jon! Thanks for plugging my channel, I really appreciate it! Keep up the great content! 100,000 subscribers is just around the corner! Cheers my friend!
Thank you Mike! I used your video as a cookbook for what to look for 😎 Yes sir, this thing is a beast (big and powerful). I wanted to keep it under $2k. With all 3 monitors and raytracing turned on, the fps is a solid 60 (maximum supported by the 4KP playfield display). Definitely wanted to give you/your channel a shout-out, much of the searching I did was based on information from your custom build late last year. I thought about building my own for this, but the price was very similar and saved a bit of time waiting for price drops.
I've built alot of pc's in my life professionally and personally. I really like HP, its all we used at work on servers, workstations, desktops and laptops. My current rigs are an older Omen X I built and an Omen 45L I got refurb off bay that was in new condition that I will use for otg, 12900k and 3080ti. The best deal on refurb gaming desktops on the bay used to be the Lenovo Legion's but I wanted a better case and HP so I went with the Omen. Cyberbuypower has always offered good value and custom setups, nice pickup Jon, going to order some cables for the setup soon, looks like I need 8k cables to run 4k 60 without issue, displayport to hdmi.
I had an HP laptop that worked great, used it for 10 years (older gen i7). HP definitely makes some great PCs & laptops. Let me know how your Omen works out for you. If it performs well, we can get it added to the guide. I want to provide some good options for everyone and various price-performance ranges. While the machine I picked up may be a bit overkill for pinball, I don't buy PCs often and wanted something that will remain relevant for several years. Also for creating varied content in the future.
@@WagnersTechTalk I'll let you know Jon, the 3080ti is a pretty good card and should run these with no problem!
Wagner,
Thanks for another great video!
I was wondering if you were going to add a front end to your setup so the machine boots straight to the pinball. I've seen where people take all of their pinball programs (Pinball FX, VPX, etc.) and set them to launch in one front end, it looks something like the AtGames 4KP front end. It makes it easy just to get to everything in one place and right into the action upon bootup :)
I can't wait to get my 4KP built. I received it late January, but an injury still has me on the bench. Until then, I can live vicariously through Wagner's TechTalk :)
Have a great one!
vgv
Man, I'm sorry to hear about your injury vgv! I hope you recover quickly! It's a shame we aren't neighbors, if we were I'd run over and set it up for you so you don't have to wait.
The UI you mention is (likely) Pinup Popper. We'll definitely be discussing that when we get to the VPX+Future Pinball setup. It's a great front-end for consolidating all of your PC-based Vpin games.
Wagner,
You're the best of the best! I appreciate your kind words.
Can't wait to see your Pinup Popper video! A frontend UI system is what I want to have for my 4KP. I just want to walk up to the machine and see all the games ready to launch in one place :)
I did purchase a pre-built collection from a guy off Etsy, but it is a 1080p collection. Maybe running something at that resolution would allow for a less beefy PC, but I really like the demo you showed here in all it's bells and whistles glory!
Have a great one!
vgv
Just got my ALP 4K delivered today with the SSF kit installed. Excited to hook it up and try your settings for OTG. Did you get the SSF to work with pinball FX?
From what I understand SSF isn't yet supported by Zen. However, I can't say it's not working. With Gloomhaven, for example, the voices appear to be coming from the sub woofer. So, it appears there is some separation, at least in that table. I did ask Zen about it, it's something they are considering.
You are 100% correct. I got my machine set up finally this morning and playing the butter show. The voice is definitely come from the bottom of the machine. It's a little cool. Thank you for all your help. You have been awesome
Hey Jon NASA needs there computer back after this review 😂. You should name it
Juggernaut
Thanks as always for your hard work and dedication.
LOL, I was thinking of naming it "Mr. Beast". Thank you for watching, starting the PC Setup video today which will be the companion video for what's on the written guide currently. Then, on to VPX+Future Pinball!
Hey Jon, that really looks like a beast what you got there 😮cool piece of machinery.
Do you also use it for video editing? I bought myself a new PC for christmas last year. Mainly for Video editing (e.g. it has 32GB of Ram, Ryzen7 and Gefore RTX 4060). Actually i expected more from it, i‘m not very happy with the video editing performance, but still i kept it (still better than my old PC) and it was only 680,- EUR.
To me, your video was very interesting and informative 👍🏻
lol, yes she is a beast 😀 I purchased a similar-spec'd laptop (i9/RTX 4070) late last year for OTG, but then decided to use the laptop for video work instead (old laptop couldn't handle 4K footage very well). Wound up upgrading the new laptop with 64GB RAM and replaced the 1TB M.2 drive with dual 4TB drives, it's been great. That's why I wound up getting this machine dedicated exclusively for pinball/gaming/YT content. I'll use it for more than just pinball, at some point, but for now just focusing in on pinball setup. I don't buy new PC's often, but when I do I go all-out lol. The laptop I started WTT with I had used literally for 10 years (no joke). I'm hoping both of these machines will be good for at least 5+ years. Thank you for watching, I always appreciate you!
@@WagnersTechTalk same here my friend. My old PC was almost 9 years old. It seems like PC don‘t age that fast as they did 20 years ago :) good purchase. Can’t wait to see more 4k content from you.
Thanks for the video! Do the flippers have the same lag that they do when playing the 4KP with it's installed operating sysyem when compared to playing it on your PC?
The only table that has noticeable flipper lag is The Addams Family. In this video, when you hear the solenoids fire that's when I'm actually pressing the button. You be the judge, I personally think it responds well.
@@WagnersTechTalk Awesome, thank you!
My 4k alp should be arriving in a week or so. What would be the recommended specs to run the main at 4k 60 and the other 2 at 1080p. I dont want to go overkill but is a 4000 series really needed for otg?
The 4k series isn't necessary, the machine I purchased is a bit overkill but also more future-proof. I asked the community for their recommendations and added the responses I received in the Pre-Built PC Options and DIY PC Options sections under here: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k-pcsetup/#Hardware . Check out the Notes section of each table for what they had to say about their choices.
Great vid, but you get one that rocks with steady 60fps 4K for $1,000 less. 120hz, No, but Yes for 60Hz.
the pc must into the pinball, greetings mike from germany.....
Hi Mike, the pinball machine does have it's own built-in single-board computer and can play many games that don't need a PC. At present, only two pinball tables from Zen Studios are available to play directly on the machine. This will change, more tables are coming. Connecting a PC allows playing everything available from Zen Studios as well as community-created tables with Visual Pinball X (VPX), Future Pinball, and more. I hope this answered your question.
hi wagner,i have the old legends pinball with a pc Minboard i the Pinball case.@@WagnersTechTalk greetings mike from germany
On the ALP HD, no Zen tables will be able to run from the internal SBC (rk3399 cpu). For that machine, you will need a PC connected over OTG. If you need an assistance there, please see these guides: wagnerstechtalk.com/guides/#Legends_Pinball
I bought a gaming pc for mine at best buy. I returned it cuz otg didn't work. The flippers wouldn't work correctly. They would either not work or they would get stuck in the upward position. Like some kind of interference. Plus the lack of videos on RUclips on how to set all this up is nowhere to be found on this machine. I also couldn't figure out how to get the dmv and backslash set up for pinball fx. So I gave up. Now I'm just waiting to RE buy each table as they release.
It might have been the OTG cable, Insignia (Best Buy) USB-A to A cables have been a problem in the past. I recall spending a week back and forth with someone who was having issues and it turned out to be the OTG cable. He wasn't the only one. If needed, here's what I use for the connections and has worked well : wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k-pcsetup/#The_Basics
@WagnersTechTalk yep that's the exact cable I bought. Idk maybe my machine is messed up. I havnt heard anyone else having a flipper issue playing in otg.
I've not heard of any issues that match what you mentioned yet either.
Keep seeing posts on social media about all the damaged machine getting delivered, buggy software and the bad flipper lag on Adams Family. Kind of glad I didn’t shell out $1500 for this beta 4K machine. I call it beta because it doesn’t seem ready for wide release.
Apparently FedEx isn't well-equipped to handle larger boxes. My boxes were very well packed, but if the box gets pokes with a forklift damage will occur 😀 But yeah, delivery is an issue. There are some improvements to be made on the software-side of things, but most everything works very well. Latency on all tables (except TAF) is very good, as is OTG. The SSF kit is amazing. But, it's one of those things you'll have to see in person. No video is going to be able to demonstrate it. Zen has made improving TAF their #1 priority, no doubt it will happen.
No Damage here and 3 of my personal friends bought one and no damage there, wait for a sale, its not beta at this point, the zen tables could perform better, the look, sound and quality of the machine and interface are top notch, and magic pixel tables are highly underrated and look play fantastic.
Hi Wagner, so I just received my 4k Adam's Family pinball (love it) I just purchased this same computer as you did from Amazon and I'm kind of scared because I want to download all the things I need to run vpx tables but I'm kind of clueless. Is there any other videos besides this one that makes that process easier to follow? I understand how to hook up the connections from this video just not what to download or where to download it. Please help. Thanks for all you do for the community.
Very welcome, thank you for your support! I've already started working on the initial OTG PC Setup guide (video) that will be a companion to this written guide here: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k-pcsetup . It will cover setting up the PC as well as Pinball FX/M. After that video is completed, I'll begin the VPX + Future Pinball setup guide. I don't do this full-time, so I don't have exact release estimates but will get to both as soon as I can.
@WagnersTechTalk Thank you so much. I will review this video and follow step-by-step instructions, and I will patiently wait for the next video (vpx install) to arrive once you've posted on RUclips. Many thanks again from the community, have a wonderful day.. 😊
You too Jason! If you get to vpx before I do, this guide should help: wagnerstechtalk.com/alpbi/ . While it demonstrates how to setup things in HD, it's going to largely be the same.
Has everything been smooth with this PC? Are you playing pinball fx with maxed out graphics?
It's been running very smooth. There are always new things that are being learned/tested and further refinements are likely but the latest settings that I'm using for FX are here: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k-pcsetup/#Main_Playfield .
So if I understand this correctly to play pinball fx otg it’s better to use the deck it comes with vs the extra control deck because as of now the control deck doesn’t work in otg?
Yes, that's correct. For now.
@@WagnersTechTalk Have you heard anything if they are working on fixing it? As of right now fx is not really playable with the control deck unless you want to use a mouse to navigate which is really crappy.
Hey so im looking at purchasing this pc but im just curious because ive never had a liquid cooling pc how does it work with this one and how do i keep up maintainance?
I've only had this machine for a short time, so I can't report on any maintenance that may/may not be necessary based on experience. It's likely best to ask the seller directly for this question. Visit here, amzn.to/3Vhbse1 then search the page for "Looking for specific info?" and ask there to get the best answer from the CyberPower PC folks.
Jon - 3080ti 32 ram i9 and otg with fx3 fx and pinball m flippers are sticking - ? Any suggestions - I have all unnecessary programs closed out - and whatever graphics I set it to it still has periods of stick unresponsive flippers -
On atgames tables no issue ??
Advice greatly appreciated
I heard from one individual that had a similar issue that was resolved by using a powered hub with the OTG connection to the ALP 4k. If you can try that, please let me know if it helps. I've only had one report, so not sure if this is the solution to the problem.
@@WagnersTechTalk Jon could you suggest one at Best Buy or Amazon
Please understand, I don't have much information to go on, at this point. However, this is a hub that AtGames tested/recommended to me a few years back. I bought one and used it with my ALP HD and it worked well: amzn.to/3o87vYm . If this does solve the problem you're having (or doesn't), please let me know either way. We'll be able to help the next person.
@@WagnersTechTalk Jon smart man that was the issue I had an old docking station powered in my junk box - no latency or lag anymore - thanks 🙏. I knew I could count on you 👍
Awesome news!!! I'll add it to the guide in the troubleshooting section, thank you for letting me know. #2 here: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k-pcsetup/#Troubleshooting
But can this pc play the pinball version of Crysis? 😁
😀
So otg works? I keep seeing some people not able to get it to function properly...
Yep, it works. You will need to use the stock control panel (not the Arcade Control Panel). For a full written guide on how to get up and running with Pinball FX/M, see here: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k-pcsetup (see note at the very top for the few things that aren't working fully)
@@WagnersTechTalk dang no accelerometer function?...
@@vilhelmstein2091 Not yet, from what I understand it is coming but not working properly currently. I'll update the guide when that changes.
