Quadruple-A is 4 times more bugs, 4 times more expensive, 4 times less fun
Game studios after raising their claims and at the same time lowering their standards
4 times the micro-transactions home boy
But it has 16x the detail
And 16 times more the detail.
4 times the loading screens, 4 times the cutscenes, 4 times the grind. And I can probably buy 4 times the games I usually get on a Steam sale for the price of a quadruple A pile of manure.
crazy how "complete" is being used unironically as a primary selling point, this is how far we've gotten
it's also a lie. AssCreed4's ship game was more complete than this turd, 10 years ago
@@marcogenovesi8570 yeah don't think the 70$ version can be considered "complete" when some actual content like missions is locked behind the 100$ version lol
@@DDracee Bonus content is bonus content and is not part of the normal game. Also those two extra mission are literally there to unlock 2 cosmetics only Premium edition get. Also the game is $60 not $70. Its been $60 at least since Friday night when I DLed the open beta and was looking up shit on the game. Also the premium version is $90 not $100. And honestly they are giving out just as much if not more stuff for the extra $30 the premium version cost. You get two sets of cloths for your character, a set of cloths for the crew, a pet, a cosmetic set for the ship, a firework thing, digital sound track including all the sea shanties, 84 page digital artwork book, can play 3 days early, and first premium battlepass in included. The battlepass itself is probably gonna be anywhere from $5-$10, digital art book I'll say is worth $15, sound track $10, the 11 piece set for the ship probably $10-$20, all the other stuff would be $5-$10 each easily. So you are paying $30 for like $60 minimum of stuff. And no I didn't buy it, didn't even buy the normal version yet.
I think "will deliver in the longrun" will basicly mean " wont be finished at release"
Right? So many projects are only
The wise ChatGPT has spoken:
While there isn't a strict industry definition for "quadruple-A" or "AAAA" games, such terminology would likely be viewed skeptically by both consumers and industry professionals. The AAA designation already implies the highest level of quality and production values, so claiming a game as "quadruple-A" or "AAAA" could be seen as an attempt to exaggerate or overhype the game's status.

Problem with live service games is that they have a day when they die forever, while normal games can be re-played forever (almost).
not with ubisoft though, they want you to not own your games. Even if it's single player.
A pirate game that's not even worth to be pirated, Ubisoft been a joke for a long time now
Maybe they would do better becoming comedians lmao
meh, i personally think it's just popular to hate Ubisoft. but out of all their mainline games in the past 5 years, I've enjoyed maybe 70% of them. Only ones I can think of that I didn't like were valhalla, FC6, FC new dawn, Watch dogs legion.

"people will see this game.. is a full game" is supposed to be some kind of noteworthy thing. Amazing.
Yeah kinda saying AAA are not
You get the rest of the game only after paying 100 bucks for a dlc cough d4 cough
When the bar is set so low, being a "full game" is a selling point instead of the absolute bare minimum to even be a product on the market.
"is a full game " They said that and yet THEY DARE to sell the actual full game only for those who paid 100$
"Fun. Fun. Fun means fuck you and pay me."
Quadruple A sounds like the a mortgage product from 2007
The real issue is that many game publisher are selling games that are actually still in beta as finished products.
Due to inflation, AAAA is actually AA
Crazy how a Disney MMO from like 15 years ago had more pirate activities than Skull and Bones
I think elden ring was the first aaaa. The amount of devs and time they put, the dlc coming out could win game of the year by itself
@@ScootsMcPootElden Ring is a great game, don’t get me wrong, but the main reason it won game of the year is because most of the big games to release last year were complete trash.
@@robforskinstein I can't think of a year it wouldn't of won in recent memory to be fair. It was a bright spot in a dull year, but it was also a game changing game.
I still say it's because fromsoft isn't afraid to be different. I've said ever since uncharted aaa games have been garbage. They stopped worrying about gameplay. It became graphics and story. If you look back thats around the time games changed. There's a reason alotnof indie games are popular, they still focus on game play and replay ability. Modern games focus on the theatrics. Fromsoft is good at focusing on both.
@@ScootsMcPoot You aren’t wrong, I think it would have won GOTY if it came out in the last 5-6 years, but I don’t really see how it was game changing? I’m not downplaying it at all in any way, I just don’t see how it was a game changing game.

If we even pirate something like that, it only gives these idiots confirmation that their game is good, which it clearly isn't.
Just get sea of thieves
I remember playing in a closed beta of Skull&Bones over a year ago, where the exact same timing minigames were already in and thinking "this has to be a palceholder until they properly implement it" lmao
To me this seems to be like one off those war tank games on mobile but super hyped up. Just going around in a big object that moves slow and you shot canons.
"i think this guys selling batteries at this point" underrated take lol
i fking died when he said that
Which is even more nuanced, as AAAA battery wouldn't basically be used anywhere due to form-factor / size / capacity / power supplying capabilities. There are more specific battery sizes for low power devices.
It’s hilarious as hell
Does that means D games are bigger?
genuinely the first funny thing I've heard Asmongold say.
Currently there is a trend in games where the more A's it has the more incomplete or buggy it is (also the microtransactions are higher).
true
oonly thing china did right was ban them
The more the marketing tells me the game is an A+ game I find the game didn't bring its A game.
I can't believe the gaming industry has come to a point where releasing a game with tons of bugs is normal now. And I really hope game prices don't go up. $70 is already ridiculously expensive for a game.
@@anonisnoone6125 Ah see, but it's an "EA" game, so that should be totally expected and you're a bad person for wanting it to be complete at launch. Spending 70-100$ + micro-transactions is really like a community service when you think about it.
1:37 is that a heart I see? Lmao
Day one when I saw this game I was like, wtf is this. Its AC Black Flag minus any ground game 😑😑 and people were drooling for it. Somebody at Ubisoft was like, "Alright team, how do we make a lot of money with the least amount of effort?" and some genius was like, "You know AC Black Flag? It really does look like a mobile game.
This is the completest game ever, I have never even seen so much completedness in a single game!
It's so complete you can't even finish it yourself cause it's already completed when you start playing!
It's like going to a film at the movies and half the scenes are still in green screen and it's unfinished. If a publisher wants big boy triple/quadruple A money, it needs to come with a value proposition and that should include NO bugs on final release.
The alternative is early access

I think people are starting to turn away from games that are aiming to be live service because live service is now synonymous with games trying to squeeze as much money out of their players as possible. And most of the time tailoring the game model to drive people to want to spend money.

For 70 dolars, i expect to go first person on land, and cut down the trees with my crew, even equip individual crewman to be better loggers. For 70 dollars, i expect to actualy, in person, enter a habor, roam around, visit the brothel, organize a trade buy having the dochands unload my ship, and go in person to the trader, haggling. Not just a screen, that says buy and sell, not just a timing minigame to cut down trees with my jedi powers, that than have no collision and glith trought the floor. Ayo you couldn't be more accurate 😂😂😂
That might (just might) be because many of these devs are mobile game devs, Ubisoft is drooling all over the mobile game genre
That is how mafia works
This game looks like a world of tanks or war thunder dlc
the issue is that big companies throw around these terms and just confuse the consumers more due to not understanding what they really mean to the consumers who defined what these terms mean via word of mouth reputation in the community
triple A
First A = Gameplay experience
Second A = Content Amount
Third A = Story Lore
now before i get endless arguments upon this topic i will admit almost everyone will argue their own views on what the A's mean in triple A but the real issue here is that these big Dev companys just do not respect their own customers and only exist in the narrow world of cost/profit ratio because their bottom line is the quarterly report of their share holders profit margins.
i love how all the guys he showed playing it, their faces looked like they were just over it. lol
People will really see how vast and complete that game is.
$70 base game. $100 for the game and some of its DLC.
Battle passes, "live service", DLC, cosmetic shop, non-cosmetic shop (probably)...
So vast, so complete.
You're being awfully optimistic to assume 100 dollars for "some dlc". Knowing ubi, it's gonna be microtransaction crap on a discount at best.
@@slamkam07It will probably include the very first DLC available at launch. But maybe not. Usually the most expensive version of a game is $100-150 and includes a season pass or something on top of some cosmetics. This IS never-before-seen territory in the gaming world after all, we might not ever see another AAAA game again after this absolute masterpiece launches and destroys the entire market with its perfection.
That is being sarcastic 😂🤣 the games is garbage 👎
It's frustrating because when Black Flag came out I said that they needed to make a pirate game with the engine but flesh out all the mechanics more with multiple ships, trading, territory, more elaborate swashbuckling, and maybe take some inspiration from Mount & Blade and other games that allow you to make your own way in the world. I assumed Skull and Bones was supposed to be that, but then I played the closed Beta, not only did it crash every 30 minutes, but it's actually more shallow then AC:Black Flag. You can't run around your boat or jump off it, you can't swashbuckle, boarding an enemy ship is now a cutscene, every location in the game has a loading screen, etc. It's baffling that Black Flag is a deeper and more seamless pirate game and that was made 11 years ago.
This is exactly my thoughts! I just want to add that even Pirates of the Caribbean from 2003 is better than skull and bone
this game is trash
yeah i do not understand what they spent the time and money on... would rather play black flag or sea of thieves
Not going to lie, when it comes to PlayStation Sea of thieves will be a better alternative to Skull and Bones, in sea of thieves YOURE the one in control of your ship, you can literally board other players with yourself and other players as well as leave your ship and say it’s sailing in circles as you explore an island, you can go back to the seas and your ship is still sailing in circles, just climb the ladder, get to the wheel and your back to controlling where your ship turns, sails same thing, you can adjust the sails to whatever you want, launch yourself out cannons, do voyages ranging from digging treasure, hunting skeletons, trading and retrieving goods including lost goods to merchants, do PvP matches/invasions, sail emissary flags to boost the profit and rep from selling stuff to the faction of the emissary flag, I could go on and on about how sea of thieves is a better and cheaper alternative to Skull and Bones.
In my opinion, this game deserves even more "A's", because it expresses the degree of my speechlessness about so much audacity ...
I remember paying over $60 for games on the NES in like 1988. That's like paying about $180 for a game today. Games were expensive.
There was always a massive resell market, video game rental stores, deep discounts that happened fairly soon etc...

You're smoking something and don't want any. Forspoken had shit gameplay and AWFUL characters and plot. And it was most definitely woke.
"just different flavors of raccoon"
- the only person I believe means it literally
I think an underbaked release is a serious issue because of how much time and money from the initial sales bubble must then be spent getting the game fixed. No matter how you break it down, employee bandwidth is required to do the work so they can't work on other things.
And if you don't fix it then you sacrifice brand image or even company image (or personal these days lol)
If you're like me and never bothered to know what the A in triple A meant, here's the meaning from middleburydotedu:
AAA is derived from the US system of grading where A is the highest possible mark. Each A has a different meaning: the first A denotes “critical success”, the second A marks “innovative gameplay”, and the third is meant to signify commercial success.
The fourth A means "All previous A's were false."
the funny part about this is that it wasn't in an interview that he defended it, but to the investors. As in the shareholders were unhappy with the price being that high and wanted it to be lower. So it's not even a matter of shareholders pushing for higher game prices. Even they know it's not good to raise the price that high.
What really damnnn man that really shows the higher ups in Ubisoft are fucked its really the reason why their games r going down for sure
a quadruple (A) game would have to be better than elden ring in quality. i am not convinced this game will do that.
Red Dead 2 also...
@@renato7502rdr2 is one of few games that truly deserves 'next gen' title. Not only in terms of requirements like every new title but actual quality and looks.
If anything, Elden Ring and Baldur's Gate would be the "AAAA" games, not this garbage. Probably GTA 6 would qualify too.
I feel like if there will be a quadruple A game it would be from either Rockstar or Fromsoftware.
@@renato7502lmao rdr2 fans trying to get credit
Ubisoft have always talked about expanding the sailing from Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag and here it is, the sailing part without the assassin's part
The A's are mostly about budget, but the only thing that makes Skull and Bones so expensive is the development hell it's been in for 10 years.
right. a CEO who never held a gaming controller all his life telling me what a quadruple A game is😂😂
7:51 It's the type of cosmetic you're gonna be able to buy in the shop. They're gonna be selling all kinds of pets for you to have, each for just $19.99.
Game is worth for me $10 max. If this game is 4A game then CP2077 is 35A game ... lol
where the hell is the sword fighting and sword slashing and jumping onto other ships and taking it over and stealing their loot and burring the treasure...and getting drunk at the pub....there's soooooo much missing....
You mean the same Company that was trying to tell me that buying their Games will not make me own them is trying to defend that Skull and Bones is an AAAA Game?
No Clue who is currently sinking more Blizzard or Ubisoft.
Hate playing devils advocate but there is nothing wrong in that statement and it is not just Ubisoft.
You don’t own any of the games you buy digitally. You own a license. And it doesn’t matter if that license was bought from Ubisoft, EA, Steam, GOG, Epic, etc.
The only way to buy the game is by buying a physical copy of that game.
Even an old game like Sid Meier's Pirate had much more fucking to offer than that garbage. It allows you to fight and board a ship, take the ship and even allows to some extent go on land and that game is 2 decade old.
That game was S tier for it's time.
@@cagxplays9602 I hate the Term Triple AAA game and now I hate the Term Quadruple AAAA Game. back in the GameCube and PS2 era nobody cared about the generational game price label if it was a good game the price does not even matter it never did.
8:33 bro our ancestors were related to those Lemurs they aren’t Raccoons they are Monkies!😂
Once they get to 5 A they have a bigger price jump for each A
I'm so confused. I thought $70 was the new normal for AAA titles. They could have said nothing 😂
Yeah, pretty much. And if you cut some of the content, you can make a "special edition" and put it for $100+
I believe this is a response to ppl saying "triple As used to be $60"
Yes but games that don't have a lot of content and such have sold at lower prices such as star wars squadrons which was $40 or even ubisofts own R6 extraction was $40. Skull and bones genuinely feels like it should fit in this price range instead of $70. But we'll have to wait and see.
70 bucks AND live service tendencies, probably gonna have a lot of micro transactions or even some macro transactions to be able to play the game.
$100 in my country :D and now that's increasing to $120 recently :D 0 dlc, the base game, normal edition, and $120 for it, and its only the AAA games that are increasing in price while somehow downgrading in quality, truly amazing :D
how the hell did they manage to fuck up the black flag formula
'Takes part out of an 11 year old full price game, cuts it down, sells it to you for full price+' Yeah alright
"If buying isn't owning, then piracy isn't theft". Ubisoft started it.
Advertising 'complete' game as some kind of extraordinary thing is like when the employers advertise 'pay is on time'.
Played the open beta from start to finish and had not swung a single cutlass, not fired a single pistol, nor physically boarded a ship.
Yep did the same as you, waited 4 years for this and was the biggest flop I've personally felt from a game.
That’s because it’s a ship game 🤡

This is somehow more fun than _Path of Titans_ and _The Isle_ combined.
they marketed this game to give you the impression that you are the captain of a pirate ship. But you are actually just a pirate ship. This is "World of Warships: Pirates of the Carribean edition"
Triple A games are between 200 - 400 of my country currency btw.
The minimal wage is 1.300 - 1.500 of the currency
