Maybe you have a brain of a linguist that you can speak a different language in 30 years. We are not made equal. Asians have different languages in their countries and difficult to learn & to switch to English when you are an adult. It is not easy as eating McDonalds. Try to go to China & stay there for 30 yrs if you can understand & speak Mandarin, Cantonese & other native languages during that time. I came from Asia & learned English since I was in kinder & yet when I came to America, I struggled because it was not easy to switch my brain to a different language when my brain has a stock of so many languages. I still struggle in speaking sometimes. I even went to Speech courses to get rid of my accent but I still have accent after living here for 36 plus yrs. & married to American.
I have absolutely no linguistic skills, but i like to think i could pick up the local language to a competent standard after THIRTY years.

I’m in Texas, been here all my life and I’m proud to be just as I’m sure y’all are proud to be from Chicago or wherever you love as home. I’ve never even been to Chicago or to New York which makes me so sad now because I believe things are changed forever for all of us…our whole country.
I know what people say about us. They say we are stupid and racist and bigoted. I don’t even pretend to speak for anyone but myself & the people I know as family & friends so I will not say with absolute confidence that no person in Texas matches those descriptions. What I can say with absolute confidence is those words do not apply to anyone I know. Well, I suppose the “stupid” part is a matter of personal experience and opinion…we DO talk a bit slower than most Northerners but that fact alone isn’t the metric for stupid so we’ll just leave that alone 😂.
We understand and truly sympathize with the number of illegal immigrants invading your cities. Our Gov Abbott used to send a small percentage of the 8 million+ illegals who crossed by walking over our border (and yes, they walk regardless of what u heard Ms. Karine Jean-Pierre say. I was shocked when I heard her say that don’t because yes they do! In more than one place along our border) but I think BC or HS has taken charge of sending buses and trains, planes, idk what all to cities which volunteered as Sanctuary Cities first. Now, I do normally research anything I hear but I have not done much research on this, so if I get something incorrect it’s a mistake, not a lie. I realize it’s cheesy to a lot of people, but I was taught that you sometimes only ever have your word to give to people so if you’re a liar they’ll never trust you again! I take it seriously. My purpose here is to tell you what I know for certain, what I have heard, and try to find America because I am really afraid if we don’t mind our p’s & q’s we might be in sad shape as a country 😢.
Texas is a big state, yes. But we have had I believe they announced last count over 8 million & that’s not right! It’s too many, its not right for those who had to come in the legal way & most of all is the harm that is being done to their children and to ours! We have families with ranches along the borders and they have had to start arming their kids just to walk or ride their property! Can you imagine trying to send your babies to school and you don’t know if there will be a person robbing you on your property or destroying it or if women and babies will be alive or maybe not! Unacceptable! And what these poor little kids and babies have to endure is unspeakable. So I am confused who this is helping. It certainly isn’t helping the Black or Mexican workers at all! It’s taking their jobs and the food out of their babies mouths! Its quadrupled fentanyl sales (and deaths). I’m sorry to say, its only helped President Joseph R Biden and his administration. I’m sorry but that’s that!
Let’s find something to remember who we are. My grandbabies don’t even really know the 🇺🇸 USA! I’m sure kids have changed allover but I don’t think we’re just imagining losing the best part of ourselves! Come visit the border! That’ll be fun! We can show y’all around!😊

I am Chinese, not from Brighton park. She has courage snd I admire her for pouring her heart about this great country and how it is making such a bad decision in handling the process,… not the actual illegal immigrants
They need an interpreter because she has the right to express herself. She pays her taxes, too! People who are criticizing for not speaking English most likely do not know a word of Cantonese. She can speak English but hard to understand due to her accent. I bet these people who are criticizing her English do not know even the correct grammar when the are native speakers of English. This is why it is a mistake not to have an official national language, just like China standardized on Mandarin, so that people could understand each other. There have been cases in the US where some people from Mexico were left out because they could not understand Spanish, but only their indigenous Mexican tribal language so attempting to cater to them by translating into Spanish from English failed. Those that don't learn English well enough to communicate for whatever reason, miss out.

who will translate the Cantonese into Spanish so that the only Spanish speakers can know what she said ? who will translate the the Spanish into French for the people from French African countries and then the French into Mandarin for the Mandarin speakers and then the Mandarin into Cantonese for the Chinese Cantonese speakers who can't understand Chinese Mandarin ? And then Ukrainian for the Ukrainian refugees ? And to translate between all of these languages for every speaker so that everyone 'can be heard' ? You can't win, the only only to win is to make English the official language.
@@peekaboo6622 We used to have an exam in US history that even Americans don’t know how to answer but luckily, in my native country we were taught American history from elementary to high school & sung the national anthem & other American patriotic songs, that is why I passed the citizenship. The meeting was about taking up a proposed advisory referendum for the March primarily election ballot on whether to continue sanctuary city status. The Rules Committee chair and Johnson's floor leader attempted to bury it in committee.
