To the people who are confused, “안녕” or “annyeong” can both mean two things: it can be “hello/hi” or “bye” (greetings & farewell). That’s why at the end part when IU said “annyeong”, the translation was “hi” when it’s supposed to be “bye”. The translators might’ve forgotten to edit that part lol, because even Koreans themselves are confused about that.
FYI, guys, she does all the harmonization background by herself. Yup, IU is very technical in recording thus she does a lot of improvisations. She said that only her can harmony to herself.

Steaming rice smell is so sweet. Is not abstractable explanation. Korea uses pressure to cook rice, and when the rice is done, it takes out pressure. It has a sweet taste and smell unique to grains. It smells different from cooking food and meat.The gentle sweet and light scent is like the smell of clouds in the sky that I saw in my dreams.

She said the song was complete without any modifications to the original version of his composition, and also finished recording quickly. Like in the morning mom cooks rice, the kid wakes up at the smell of steaming rice. It's like the smell of cookies when you visit your grandma, the warm and calm atmosphere grandma's cookies make you feel. That song is a remake of a folk song from the 70s or 80s, I think.

This 18 mins of IU singing live is no big deal as she can normally sing 4 + hrs at her concerts.
She's sick and tired during this shoot. She lost lot of weight as she was extremely busy ans slept only 2 hrs daily. Hope shes doing much better now.
