so privileged to be able to interview him about his journey to became a Ballet Star.
the dance footage in this film has been put together from different sources on RUclips
Irek. I was almost 40yo, I'd seen Nureyev live, but ballet was beyond my pleasure. Then I saw the 1988/89? Bolshoi recording of Nutcracker. Here was a performance that made sense, a character that spoke of life. Spartacus, Legend of Love, Ivan the Terrible, suddenly ballet was accessible, alive, and powerful. I thank you for the entry into this world. Grigorovich remains my favorite choregrapher, you gave me the understanding and pleausure. For years, I've watched bolshoi performances of Nutcracter, Maria's Indian Doll has never been bettered, though many years passed before I understood her connection to you. I've occasionally looked to follow your career beyond the Bolshoi, and I pray it's been wonderful for you. Thankyou for this interview. God bless you for your dedication to this art.
What fills my heart is how dance transcends race or country.
What for me sets this dancer apart from many others is his deep artistic intelligence as well as startling virility. A unique performing artist of the highest order. One of the great male dancers of the century. Only a handful operate on his exulted level.
What a great dancer and actor! Born to dance Rudolf in "Mayerling". Unforgettable.
Mukhamedov is one of the few danseurs I cannot take my eyes off when he’s onstage….the others are Vladimir Vasiliev, Nureyev, Peter Schaufuss, Maris and Andris Liepa, Alexander Godunov, and Carlos Acosta. The first time I saw footage of them performing, or even in class, their images were stamped on my brain. I can certainly appreciate other danseurs, but they don’t have the same affect on me. Naturally, we cannot say our favorites are “the best ever” bc the nature of art is to be subjective, but if these men are on screen, I’m riveted to it!
Fascinating portrait of a wonderful dancer in his own words. Thank you for this jewel. I was so privileged to have seen him live in Spartacus and other ballets.
A great great star. I consider myself very lucky to have lived the Durante Mukhamedov era in London
Divno, fantastično

RESPECT, RESPECT, RESPECT. ONE OF THE MONSTER OF BALLET DANCER 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 THANK YOU.
Irek dear, how wonderful to see you speak of your love of dance. How wonderful to see you again after so many years since we worked together. You were a magnificent Moor, in Jose Limon's "The Moor's Pavane", in Athens with the Greek National Opera Ballet, 2007. It was a great collaboration, having the pleasure to direct and re-construct the work with you. Onward!! much love to you!! Alice Condodina
