You've covered a lot of ground here, but I'm too lazy to watch the video again. Is this doing Voice or just text messaging or both? ISTM this is kind of critical and should be front and center so we'll know easily.
Also, there's literally not a single closeup shot of the front that isn't at a weird angle. Maybe you could add some better clips of that area?
I agree though, project does look very cool.

Hi Brad, meshtastic is a LoRa Messaging system, it’s not voice at all .

Yes. Very nice. Since it is an ESP32 it uses more power but can be used connected to Wifi compared to the NR52 (if I got that correctly), esp32 used as a router and send data via the web.

a design choice i likely would have made, was an external battery option. with maybe a small internal battery so you can hot swap the large external one. but otherwise really cool device, might try making something similar, but with my own tweaks and requirements.

Have you considered a textured G10 for the side pieces? Similar properties to carbon fiber, but may provide better grip, especially in adverse environments

Love this and I’m totally gonna build myself one. Also, you mentioned in here that you’re planning on coming out with a new design? Is there any progress you could share with us?

    Howdy.
So I'm a senior communications & telecommunications network engineer specialising in the design, implementation, supply & commissioning of Rural, Regional & Remote Communications & telecommunications networks, I've been in the communications & telecommunications industry for over 35 years & I'm trying to work out & or undemand what the actual use case is for Meshtastic over already existing voice networks both Analogue & Digital both encrypted & in the clear & I have to say I'm very hard pressed to come up with a use. Case.
    Looking forward to peoples feedback.

i love your case design, but its a brick. its even bigger (thickness) than a popular VHF/UHF radio. for a static node its alright, but for personal use it would be a pain to haul.

    • @Francois_Dupont
      @Francois_Dupont 8 месяцев назад

@@BangBangBang. yes? am sure there are plenty of very practical uses for it. i was only commenting my own views into this. i am not saying all nodes should be 50grams and maximum 3cmX3cmX1cm... obviously having different choice available is always better.

    🔹In all Seriousness,
*It's amazing what a DIY FPV drone builder or Average Nerd🤓 can accomplish with a couple cheap PCB's & Open Source firmware, What a great time to be alive!
Also, I've been following the Ukraine war everyday & IMO tech like this is making a difference out there for the tech savvy Ukrainians!
Lastly, have you by chance played around with any of the open-source passive radar systems?
I was checking that out & it uses nearby existing AM FM radio to detect aircraft nearby... If you haven't seen it you should check it out!
Ok, sorry for rambling... Thanks for the content!
