Interesting. But why my Denafrips DAC than recognizes higher sample frequencies? Is it some additional information coming with the signal but the music signal itself is limited?
Hi, there will be a review of the new eversolo I was only interested in transportation, there is good talk about it online I wanted your opinion thanks and greetings from Naples
i have been waiting for this review. Denafrips makes some excellent products. i know since i own one. however i have not found a streamer yet that can compete with the same track sent from my local hard drive. has anyone else made this comparison? but i guess its just apples to oranges? in any event i will wait for when its Roon certified
First of all, thank you very much for your reviews, they are amazing. I have a short question, I could not find a satisfactory answer on the net. Is the Auralic Aries G1 first gen, being 5 years old still a valid option in 2024? Or did the technology in the last few years improve to the point that a new entry, such as the reviewed Arce unit, became a better option if buying today?
I really like this pragmatic reviewing style. Thank you. I would be interested in what cables you are using in your reference set ups. From my personal experience cheaper cables can bottleneck a higher end system. IPlease note I am not suggesting that you review the cables 😃.
Thanks Hans, for this very thorough review! I still have the Lindemann Limetree Bridge 2 and I am asking myself if this one will be better? I think they are somewhat the same, because they are around the same price point, but technology can be improved of course.
I have just bought the Limetree Bridge II but find the treble to be way too bright and sharp. What is your experience? I have run it with the original and an Ify Power V2 Power supply into a Nuprime DAC 9x and Nuprime STA-9 amplifier combo running Dynaudio Emit 10. I have also tested Rowen S2 and Dali Oberon 1 loudspeakers. What is your experience?
@@fstratiNot bright in my case, but it depends on your system and ears 👂 too. If you don’t have Audirvāna, I would advise you to try this app first, if you can, because it was making a substantial difference in my system.
@@fstrati try changing the power supply? The Bridge 2 doesn't have analog outs, right? It sounds strange that the digital outputs would make a sharp treble, unless there is a lot of IM distortion from the PSU, or actually the treble problem comes from another component. The Network 2 has the analog outputs via the ES9038 DAC, that can be bright depending on implementation, but I guess you didn't mean that, and Lindemann is usually not bright and sharp. I have a MusicBook Source (with an AKM DAC) which sounds very good, no problems with the treble, with immense space, deep bass, nice tones and clarity, no sibilance (and that with a very basic internal 5V PSU). I think it's at least on par with other streamers around 2-3K euros.
If the people of the UK pronounce it with the correct Spanish pronunciation I suspect I would still hear laughing and giggling going on in the close vicinity.
100% there will be a new, better model, it's a Chinese company, they have to release a new product every 6 months, look how many versions of only Denafrips Pontus DAC have been created :)
Thanks for your review Hans. I was hoping that it would have Asynchronous USB Class 2 input so that it could simply connect a (Windows) computer to an existing Arcam receiver that seems to have a good DAC already. Seems that they have overlooked that opportunity to provide a very clean Hi Res signal out of a computer. I am keen to use this method so that I am able to control the music from the Windows Interface rather than mess about with UPNP, and clunky tablets, etc.
Thanks - Just watched it - another great video from Hans :) PS: Your website is not responding from our end. I sent a message to your admin with the error message but it bounced . . . @@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel
Hi Hans, Thank you for the review! I ordered the Arce a few weeks ago. It will replace my SoTM sms200 Neo. I hope it will bring some clearer highs and a bit more controled bass. One remark: The pricing of the Arce is 1.549 Singapore dollar, which translate to 1.040 Euro. This makes it almost 450 Euro cheaper than the Mano streamer. A real bargain!
@@teknolojigundemi I have one and software updates are easy to do. Alvin from Vinshine Audio has great guide videos. I've never had an issue with it to be honest. I think the last update was during January so you should get the latest version installed. I think they are working on an update to address a bug that causes the Arce to freeze a few times a week on very frequent use when using Roon with my Venus (not with other DACs as I am learning now). It just takes a restart cycle to resolve (10s) though and I am sure they will resolve it. But the sound quality when matched with a Denafrips DAC is incredible (Venus 12th owner here). It betters my SOTM SMS 200 Ultra Neo with SPS500 by a good amount. I never used it with my other DAC as it is not compatible.
I have the Arce connected to a Pontus II using I2S. I use Roon and it has been very stable. In the beginning I used DNLA with MConnect and is was very slow and unresponsive with some occasional freezes. The switch to Roon makes the streamer shine and very stable. Soundwise I noticed a clear improvement over my old SotM SMS200: Lows are more controlled and the highs are clearer, but still with a warm sound signature. I love it, but keeps me wondering about the new Arcas streamer......
Hmm looks like this is taking a shot at Volumio rivo. I think they cost the same once you upgrade the power supply of the rivo
It surely is
hi, I ask you if arce can be compared to auralic Aries G1.1 or innuos zen mkiii
A thousand thanks
I would go for the Aries G1.1
Inability to play higher sampling rate files over DNLA seems to be a shortcoming to me.
It's basically a limitation of DLNA
Interesting. But why my Denafrips DAC than recognizes higher sample frequencies? Is it some additional information coming with the signal but the music signal itself is limited?
According to some information I found on a website from Sony, this restriction is depending on the music format. WMA files go up to 192 kHz.
A hole in the bottom of the arce?!!
Or a ‘port’ if you like

Would have liked to see review of Arces in combination with terminator with clock sync.
I don't have a Terminator, sorry

I would check out my network.... In general the output coming from the Arce is better than coming from a computer directly.

Hans, did Alvin really name this product the ARCE? Selling internationally does make a company vulnerable to these types of faux pas.
Alvin is the distributor, not the manufacturer. Probably had no say in the name.
Doesn't seem to have been a problem for Schiit Audio
It's all down do marketing
