Mick Jenkins-water(s) mixtape features noname and joey badass.
Plz do ready to die, Illmatic and enter the 36 chambers that would be the dopest reactions once so few react to those albums
Jon Denton Thanks for the re-upload and 1999 definitely is an insane project by joey!
Jon Denton I actually really enjoyed the way you did one half at one point and the other later - definitely needed for joey the beast from the east!
You're the true MVP! Keep up the great content!
He was only 16-17 when he made this. Unreal
@GUY PRODUCTIONS BOY
15 on some songs
Yea but it's just a clone album of Illmatic
Bruh what about fucking Mozart
GUY PRODUCTIONS lmaoooooo nice 1 troll
Hardnock Is one of the best songs in hiphop history imo. Joey's last verse never doesn't blow me away. It's just amazing
I totally agree, his last verse is his sickest imo
Hate that he almost edited the whole 2nd verse of joey out
Completely agree
Honestly
I get chills every time i listen to it
Yeeeeesssss...... Now we just need cilvia demo by Isaiah Rashad and because the internet by childish Gambino
FUCK YEAH Cilvia Demo is a top 5 tape for me.
Yesssss
Pieces Of A Kid first. (Since it's also a mixtape :) )
Pavel R yeah doing them in order would be dope
Ou Because The Internet definitely 😍❤️
I've seen Kendrick, Drake and a few other big hip hop stars live in recent years but seeing Joey in a small tent at Electric Picnic in Ireland is still the absolute best hip hop experience I've ever had. Unbelievable talent.
Joey is definetly underrated. 1999 is def a favorite of mine but B4DA$$ is right up there
B4da$$ is essential hip hop listening
Mtthew 123 AABA was insane too but less boom bap
Nah. It's an amazing album but I don't think you understand how much of a masterpiece this is it's incomparable... Maybe to TPAB, illmatic, GKMC, MBDTF, madvillany a top 10 hiphop project in history. B4DA$$ is great and atleast an 8. 1999 is almost a ten. And the difference between an 8 and a ten is huge
And I got that album at home I'm not disrespecting it's just 1999. Is on another level to almost anything
Ezra Przytyk I love 1999 so much but subject wise and sound wise it’s not unique enough to be a 10 for me. Rapping wise though Joey is unstoppable on this joint.
1. Summer Knights 0:50

Definition of a classic mixtape. I remember listening to this everyday for a year after it dropped. You gotta do Amerikkkan Koruption by King Capital!
Rah Sheen 47 likes 🙏🏽🤞🏽
Rah Sheen capital steez was way ahead of his time, he was so talented rip🙏
IT’S A SHIFT
amerikkkan korruption reloaded!!
Please do Isaiah Rashad - Cilvia Demo, amazing album
Jonatan Hansen Been asking this forever
Should’ve been done a long time ago
love this shout 👏🏾👏🏾
Please I've been waiting on banana
Masterpiece
Please do a Joey season and react to B4.DA.$$ and All Amerikkkan Bada$$ and also Amerikkkan Corruption by STEEZ
Peep the Aprocalypse by Pro Era, Summer Knights by Joey, & Thee Way Eye See It by CJ Fly are all worth reacting too
B4DA$$ is fucking fire, not a huge fan of AAB tho
mike for me it’s exactly the other way round, I like how Joey experimented with different sounds like jazz and soul on AAB but it’s less boom bap so I guess it just comes down to personal preference
Joey's whole discography is insane
Khal Thee way eye see it is the best mixtape of all the pros imo. Cjs hella underrated
If we ever lose Joey Badass, I'll never forgive the Hip/Hop community for ignoring his legendary talent.
Sadly if he were to pass now only then would people start really fucking with him
@@quinnmoore9562 if that happens then old hip hop would probably re-establish and rappers would just steal his flow and wordplay and use the same type beats
Since you’re so into wordplay and the english language, I highly suggest Control System by Ab-Soul
Dylan Shaw YES! This is a must
Do What Thou Wilt has even crazier wordplay imo
I second this
Chino XL - Poison Pen
@@SolidSnake240 agreed! I'd love for him to do both personally in order of release
This is considered one of... if not the greatest mixtape of all time
nah live.love.asap
Canvena lmao
this, LLASAP, and Faces are top 3
lil desk the fact you out Faces in there, props to you homie. Long live Mac
This, better off dead and stolen youth LP
You are on a roll with these project reactions keep it up :)
Idk if it's just me but this is like exactly the reactor I've wanted. Listens to classics and new releases and breaks down and appreciates the lyrics!! Jon you're amazing you got your brown belt in hip hop to me
Joey's second verse on Hardknock is honestly one of my favourite rap verses of all time
F-A-C-T-S
Is this your first rap song?
You did this justice, you’ve come a long way John. You’ve become very well versed in rap and able to catch lots of bars. Much love & respect
Also reallllly excited for the 50k DOOM special
"The Nintendo Flow"
- Jon Denton
u n b e l i e v a b l e.
Aaron Tucker kind of a perfect description
So happy you reviewed this! I remember finding it the year it released when I was 14 and being absolutely blown away that someone barely older than me was so talented. It will always be my favorite Joey album for sentimental reasons. Also, his second verse on hardnock is still his best verse ever imo.
Bro since around the first time I watched you to now.. your hip hop knowledge and appreciation for hip hop has grown!! Respect! Keep up the good work
I take it back about your bandana reaction. This. Is now your best reaction felt like discovering it all over
Flatbush Zombies - BETTEROFFDEAD is a must
This is such a pleasant surprise. Your album selection has been fantastic recently, and it's been awesome to see you respond so positively to them
HI JON. I love watching your videos late at night. This mixtape was apart of my teenage years growing up. Joey was unreal on this.
PEEP: The aPROcalypse is a legendary mixtape by all of PRO ERA. You should check that out as well. But 1999 is one of my favorite projects of all time.
listen to Capital Steez - Amerikkkan korruption
I'm so excited for you to keep finding great lyrical hip-hop, not for the videos even, just for you. This is a great world to dive into and it's a great look into the real America.
Yes! thank you for recognizing, I've been saying hes been underrated hos whole career. But ive always said he will be in the top 3 convo soon
I’ve never understood why Joey Badass was still underrated. One of the most amazing rappers bar for bar I’ve ever heard and he’s been such a consistent rapper in terms of his body of work. Seriously one of my favorite rappers since the first time I listened to him.
Fan for a decade now 💪🏽 ain't ever gonna forget the first time I heard Joey on MTV jams late at night back in 2012
I made it. Again piñata or do a tribe called quest’s “we got it from here, thank you for your service” record
If you like his album I know you’ll love these ones
Souls of Mischief - 93 til a Infinity (lyrically on another level)
Isaiah Rashad - Cilvia Demo
The Underachievers - Evermore: The Art of Duality
Top 3 mixtapes
XXX - Danny brown
1999 - Joey badass
Friday night lights - J cole
DBR !!!!!!!!
ACID RAP !!!!
No Ceilings
The Water[S] , BetterOFFDEAD and Cilvia Demo : "Allow us to introduce ourselves"
faces - Mac miller goat mixtape
Killaluminati is my favorite song off this album. Something about Joey on smooth jazzy beats is unbeatable. My favorite Joey song is 500 Benz, shits so good
Damn some of these commenters just can’t be satisfied. Great reaction/review as always mr. Prophet.
Honestly Jon, your reactions are probably among the best when it comes to Hip Hop or Rock w/ Simon. I was able to find you through Simon and WhatCulture, but I’ve enjoyed seeing your own solo channel blow up and it’s clear to see why. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Sam!
You’re in for the long run now Jon. Once you get into lyrical rap there’re so many classics to listen to. I recommend Control System by Ab soul and Things Fall Apart by The Roots.
Thank you for delivering time and time again Jon this one made my night 😭
Amazing! One of my favourite artists of this generation. I hope you also get around to listening to All-Amerikkkan Bada$$ because that's top tier
YES. Take your time, we'll all be here....keep going through Joey's stuff chronologically then move to others #joeyseason
Cannot wait for the MF doom reaction. Good video as always dude.
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOREVER FOR THIS THANK YOU
Waves is my favorite Joey song, the beat is so classy and chill and his flow is unbelievable
This made me want an Nas - Illmatic reaction, if you haven’t already heard it. More Joey though for sure.
You a champ fr these regular album reaction uploadsss 👑👑
Yes boy! Stoked you finally got to this one
I’ve been waiting for this for so long.
My favorite rapper of all time! I'm glad you checked out this masterpiece
To this day Joey still underrated. i dont watch reviews of albums normally but saw a guy post your review of Denzel Curry's latest album on reddit, bin a fan since then! keep it up
thank you for another great reaction. I appreciate that these album reacts are a lot more work for mostly the same or less views than a 10min video. Supporting you and Simon via patreon.
Would love to see you react to Earl Sweatshirt's first album, Doris. A lot more accesible than his latest album Some Rap Songs. Lots of parallels between earlier Earl Sweatshirt and Joey Badass in terms of lyrical content coming from young minds.
Great reaction!!!! Thank you JD da Prophet. I do know and love you from Rock Reacts and im sad you're not reacting together but i appreciate and support you on your own musical journey. Now that you have listened to 1999 by Joey Badass... I mean its only right you listen to Capital Steez- Amerikkkan Korruption. Capital Steez was Joey Badass best friend who died in 2012. Steez inspired Joey to write more when they were younger and created Pro Era together with Powers Pleasant and CJ Fly.
This is the smoothest album or mixtape I've ever heard. Sad most people will never hear that masterpiece. Helped me alot mentally in the passed
Check out Piñata by Freddie Gibbs, you won’t be disappointed
Dude Isaiah Rashad Cilvia Demo, just do it
John you have this uncanny ability where you sometimes stop the song during some memorable/crazy bars. Suggesting maybe you should rewind a bit and then continue listening.
Lool I literally got goosebumps because this has been my favourite mixtape ever since I heard in in 2012 still mind blown was 17 myself when I first heard it 🙌🏾
Joey’s second verse on HardKnocks has to be one of the best verses in our generation
#roadto50k in the title.. congratulations Jon you’ve built an incredible channel
Damn! Another fire review. Theres a reason X had Joey on the ? album. I get the impression they were good friends and I know they planned to work together again. Makes a brother mad that wont happen!
X was most likely inspired by the pro era movement and Capital STEEZ
Kendrick Lamar's label mate AB SOUL's "Control System" is a CLASSIC!! Please man you're on such a role man I'm proud of your journey so far.
love the review, I also agree is under rated he's top 5 of this new school and lyrically top 3
YESS finally!! this was awesome.. glad you liked it
Third Eye Sh*t is great as background music, love chucking it on when im cleaning my room and just kicking it. So chill
If you’re talking about rappers actually rapping Joey is top 3 easily ... top 5 in the game right now overall
Whose your top 3 currently Rn?
miguel gonzalez Kendrick, Cole, Joey is what I’m guessing.
and if we're not talking about "rappers actually rapping"? please explain the distinction🙏
abergs1125 prolly means a rappers ability to produce high quality music/good projects despite not being the best at ‘rapping’, best example is Kanye. Kanye>Joey as an artist but Joey is a more talented rapper
Definitely in my top 5 current rappers
Missed a line on Daily Routine, "Traded in my Nikes for a new mic, I guess it's safe to say he sold soul for his new life" 🔥🔥🔥
Jake Weaver shoe sole (soul)
MF DOOM is your favorite rappers favorite rapper
Ran Some is this man of an advanced enough hip hop level to be prepared for DOOM
Marvin he is
Everytime I listen to doom I have to concentrate so hard my head hurts
This is my favorite album of all time. I’m a huge Joey fan but this album is definitely at the top of my list.
I went to his concert back in 2012. Watched him play this project, with no knowledge of who this 17 year old was. All the way from NY to a small stage in Norway. Been a fan since
I’m so glad you reacted to this
YES LET'S GO JOEY FINALLY DO HIS OTHER ALBUMS TOO
Joey is definitely my favorite. But another record that I enjoyed as much good as 1999 in my opinion, is Nas 1994 album IIImatic. You should definitely check it out. Love the reaction
“I’m about blowin loud, on the block sporty, glock 40 in a politician mouth’
There’s something about joeys closer verse in this song that has always stood out to me as everything hip hop is. It’s rough and hard and unfiltered but masterful, cutting and precise
Jon ...true beat of hard knock is actually done by a Uk artist called Lewis Parker , joey found it on the internet and asked Lewis if he could have it , the Lewis Parker album is called “ masquerades and silhouettes...if you wan to dive deep into hip hop then check this out the production is insane , much love
hardknock is one of the greatest hip hop songs of all time. period.
Well done! Can’t wait for the self-titled album! :P
DONT STOP NOW. DONT YOU DARE. LISTEN TO HIS SECOND MIXTAPE SUMMER KNIGHTS OR HIS FIRST ALBUM BA.DA.$$
Xerzus SUMMER KNIGHTS FIRST. IT’S HIS BEST WORK.
The video I’ve been waiting for
The beat from “Waves” is an original beat by Freddie Joachim under the same name, but J. Cole has also used the beat in the past so that’s probably why you recognize it
React to The unseen by Quasimoto! That’s madlib’s alter ego. Super experimental especially for the 2000’s
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 please jon its so goif
That shit is str8 classic love that record
That second Joey verse on Hardknock is one of the best ever
You do know that we gon need those early Kanye West album reactions right. College dropout, mbdtf, graduation, etc etc
Loved the breakdown of the album. Ageless record
You are killing it my dude!
Bro been following u since rock reacts and I could always tell u were the one that appreciated hip hop.. you have come a long way man I'm glad to see joey getting his props.. drake?? Haha hes a pop star.. check out marlon craft sir u wont b disappointed.. he needs the real hip hop heads to push him to the next level
Steeze's verse on survival tactics has gotta go down as one of the best in history
His whole catalog despite being very small is pretty high up for me.
GET THIS MAN TO 50K SUBS
We NEEED that Madvillainy reaction!!
Respect that you're feeling like you'll be more seasoned in hip hop by then though.
The rest of MF DOOM's catalog is very classic, with all the alter alias' the man never dropped a flop.
After Madvillainy we need:
Operation Doomsday
MM.. Food
Born Like This
The Mouse and The Mask
Vaudeville Villain
Venomous Villain
Take Me To Your Leader
Acid rap-Chance the rapper. He was also young when he made this one and its prolly his most pure project to this date
Hey Jon, please react to the Live.Love.A$AP Mixtape from A$AP Rocky, obviously not on the lyrical level of a Joey or a Kendrick, but the production by Clams Casino and Rockys flows on this are just amazing.Rocky is an extremely ambitious artist (in fact, all his albums are worth listening to in my opinion), which sometimes gets overlooked as he's sometimes just seen as this dude that's into high fashion and calling himself pretty.
Lupe Fiasco - Food and Liquor next? ;) if you liked Joey you will DEFINETLY love Lupe man, most slept on rapper after AZ lol
Killua Lupe’s in my top 5 all time, especially after his latest album. That shit is crazy 🔥
I wouldn’t compare Lupe to AZ... Lupe is FAR ahead in all categories lol
MrPranker247 lol yeah I agree. Not many rappers in history can fuck with Lupe’s entire catalog. He has legendary bars
This was a great introduction to your channel
This is my favorite review on your channel :) once I heard hard knock come on I knew you where gonna be blown away 😂!
I remember listening to waves when it came out. Great times man, I miss them.
Love the reaction, Joey is the truth! You should check out some stuff by a tribe called quest. Classic music right there man
Joey is the most underrated and under-appreciated rapper in his generation.
He wrote waves at 16. Legendary shit.
Gonna throw in my hat as well for Cilvia Demo - Isiah Rashad and Better Off Dead - Flatbush Zombies both are must listen to mixtapes
please do “Evermore: The Art of Duality” by The Underachievers or “Better off Dead” by Flatbush Zombies, you wont regret it JD
I have those exact head phones for my Xbox and the sound is amazing 10/10 would recommend
Bro I love how you just got into lyrical rapping and you understand more bars than lowkey anybody else i know
“If they hate, stay calm and meditate. When life hands you lemons; it’s time to eLEMONate” R.I.P. King Capital 💔
You need to do Mac Miller faces it’s the deepest tracks he’s put together & a good Look into his life
Edit: I can’t spell lmao
such a beautiful project i pray one day he peeps it. fav tracks?
@@abergs-dp2ob Friends is incredible. I listen to it all the time, at least once a month
@@sevenbridges24 lol aight my guy u win
abergs1125 wasn't making it a competition 😂... Just thought I'd join the convo man
I'd say it's a pretty good look into his lofe
hey Jon, fun fact the world domination beat was originally made by DOOM for a skit on his 2004 cult classic, MM.. FOOD. it's an extremely clever concept album, highly recommend yall check it out! if anything try a song-- beef rapp & one beer are standouts! keep up the great work on the channel!
@Colby S that hook is one of my favourite Doom hooks ever.
