    Great video! Never knew that the red twig was deer candy.

      I’m glad you took something away from the video. It’s one of the easiest ways to draw deer and improve habitat in my opinion. Thanks for the feedback and good planting 👍

    Can you do a follow up video of the survival rates of your cuttings and larger transplants?

      I’ll be sure to do an update this winter as I’m curious myself. When I was doing plots in August they were looking good. 👍

    I have 600 cuttings to get planted in the next few weeks. They are currently in the crisper of the beer refrigerator in the basement.

      Great to hear your improving wildlife habitat for several species! To much habitat is getting converted to AG land. Good luck on your plantings 👍

    You are lucky to have that much R.O.D. on your property. I am planting a bunch each year but the deer eat them before they establish. Going to try fencing some in to see if that works.

      I agree it is a deer magnet! We have lots of it here in southern Wisconsin! Good luck!

    I have Red Osier Dogwood all over my farm. It will grow anywhere.

    • @Natesbowhunting
      @Natesbowhunting  Год назад +1

      It’s a very hardy shrub for sure and pretty maintenance free. It’s nice to plant something and not worry about upkeep and extra work/money like most other plantings.

    What are you planting in that wet foodplot? I have similar property. Looks like an area thats pretty wet until summer.

    • @Natesbowhunting
      @Natesbowhunting  9 месяцев назад +1

      Believe it or not soybeans. That area gets really wet in the spring time when I filmed. You can watch my soybean video and see how nice they came up.
      Good luck!

      @Natesbowhunting do you plant anything in the same plot for summer plots before you plant your Oats in it?

    Do the deer browse on this during the hunting season?

    • @Natesbowhunting
      @Natesbowhunting  Год назад

      I have watched them browse on it in October and November here in Wisconsin 👍

  • @figandcloverranch5871

    Do you find the deer🦌 let the ROD establish without caging them off ? Or do they just browse them all off before they get going??

    • @Natesbowhunting
      @Natesbowhunting  Год назад +1

      It looks like I had about half of them survived. I have enough red dogwood around and food plots. I think that helps otherwise I’d be concerned!

  • @raypeppel8625
    @raypeppel8625 Год назад

    have you had any problem with the weeds crowding them out and letting enough light in?

    • @Natesbowhunting
      @Natesbowhunting  Год назад

      The cuttings definitely need sunlight to survive. I would say about a half of them made it. The big plants I transplanted did survive however! Here’s a video showing them last week.ruclips.net/video/xWGBJO-HXds/видео.htmlsi=V1veDUWv1T1laBx-

    I would think you should bush hog a percentage of the tall stuff down every year so it can grow back to a height the deer can reach.

    • @Natesbowhunting
      @Natesbowhunting  Год назад

      I do make trails for the deer to use to funnel them within bow range. I don’t however brush hog all of it because they seem to like to bed in it. It also seconds as good screening when it’s 8-12 feet as well as I am surrounded by open AG. But yes they definitely browse the smaller tender dogwood👍
