@That Retro Aussie iD software died after Quake. Q2 and later just weren't as good, and most iD headliners left gradually. Duke 3D may have not been full 3D, but it provided strong competition of Quake nonetheless.
id was a tiny little studio with just a few people when they made Wolfenstein and Doom. John Carmack programmed the vast majority of those games himself, with only a handful of artists and level designers and one sound engineer. But their own releases raised the bar and made it so teams had to grow. You couldn’t have just one creative vision driving a game anymore. It had to be a huge team effort, and that’s the way it still is today. I love the early id games, but that style of game development was on its way out, and their innovation is really what killed it.
it looks so weird to get into that familiar maps with that familiar enemies and sounds but in the another alternative universe where quake is duke and viceversa
Very enthusiastic to see great old level design from games like Duke Nukem, Shadow Warrior, Blood in Quake. Now it really deserved to be called Duke Nukem 3D ^^ Level design at the end of 2D era for FPS was crazy, and some sequels in 3D deceived some people, while simple 3D graphics from the beginning of 3D era are more appealing to me, so if we could have the best of both worlds it would be perfect 😎
Would be cool to see a total conversion using Quake's graphics while using Duke 3d's gameplay. Destructable objects and environments, interactivity, etc.
Might be possible in the near future. Someone is working on making a quake version of half life right now. Including breakable items and a gravity gun!
No? People made and shared levels for both Quake _and_ Duke 3D all the time back then. I'd be surprised if there _aren't_ circa 1996 recreations of Duke 3D levels in Quake, and vice-versa. The internet was tiny back then, there was no such thing as companies issuing takedowns - not on the scale that we see today. DMCA itself was only introduced in 1998, and it still did nothing to stop stuff like Napster years later. Copyright bullshit only became a problem from the mid-to-late 2000's onwards.
It's weird that these games were essentially contemporaries, but they don't really jive right. This is an honest and involved project undoubtedly, but it doesn't work well.
Eh, as a cool as it is, Duke3D has more levels in the game than just E1M1. The introductory level is exceptionally awesome though mainly because it made me go "finally, a tribute to Duke3D that ISN'T a remake of Hollywood Holocaust!".
Pretty sure they would have to, they cannot just use original Duke Nuken 3D textures in a Quake mod. So I suspect that is the case for all of the textures.
At least it isnt A Quake II Nukem mod Which would be insanely harder than this because Gunners AI and the little flying pests would have a field day with all of Episode 1 map on nightmare
looks sweet n i dont comment many positive things =p id say do it for unreal tournament 2017 but its nearly dead... maybe do it for QC? if it will even let you... i don't like the direction in which games seem to be going with master hubs and shit

@That Retro Aussie *minute of silence*
@That Retro Aussie Here's hoping iD can be great into the future. They still got it some with doom 2016 / eternal and Wolfenstein II.

"Yeah, piece of Quake!"
Underrated comment!
"I am afraid of no CAKE!"
Duke is here to save our babes from Lovecraftian monsters and their naughty tentacles! 😏
"Take those tentacles back to Japan, you freak!"
@@el_gringo6416 That works so well holy shit
i love the lightmaps and texture work looks very unreal-ish
Yeah it looks like unreal
The buttons and switches look amazing
I guess it makes sense - Unreal I was using quite similar technolog, albeit closer to Quake 2 with colored lightmaps.
How ironic,Lol.
but it's quake
So this happens when fps heroes take vacations - other heroes just take their place (while we are not watching, of course!).
Pretty impressive mod.
Hey! Thanks for playing & uploading. Hope you enjoyed it. I’ll hopefully make another map next year…
Looking forward to it! Keep up the good work.
This would be the closest thing to playing the 1998 version of Duke Nukem Forever (when it used the Quake engine).
I'd love to see all of duke nukem work in the quake engine, right down to the player models
It's called EDuke32 with 3d models, high resolution textures etc 👍
@From Unda Productions i hope you can do it 🤔
This is awesome, always love seeing what new mods can be made from old games
Two of the best FPSs in one.
Awesome! And now adding the customzied models!
The lighting is so impressive!
When I saw the beginning I'm like "okay this is a neat concept" but then E1M1 hit and I'm like, that was excellent!
He even did the post-level screen!
This is amazing! I love the new lighting on the old Duke3D maps :)
it looks so weird to get into that familiar maps with that familiar enemies and sounds but in the another alternative universe where quake is duke and viceversa
Duke Quakem
This is so cursed but pretty cool at the same time
Awesome mod here. Kept to the original Quakness with added Nukem. Well played. Liked and subed.
Cool Duke on Quake Mod love It!!

Great job!
Amazing map pack!!

I also recommend to check out Serious Duke 3D.

Feels like someone went back in time and accidentally squashed a mosquito. Now the reality is all messed up.
Jump boots, too! Aaah right this may be AD!!!!
A very strange mix, but it's not too bad. I love the destructable environments all over the place.
Very nice character port!!
wish this ran on the KEX remaster too
please provide link in description!
crossovers are the best.
I would love to see all of the DN3D monsters and weapons ported to Quake. Although I like Quake’s sound effects. It’s such a damn loud game.
Now I wanna see the Slipgate Complex in the Build engine
Quake Dukem!
The level selection stage looks more like Half-Life Duke
For all the flak greasebox gets, this is something 3DR would have shut down immediately back in the day
Broussard was an asshat, almost everyone already knows that. Otherwise DNF would have been released in around 2002 or so.

ironic, 3drealms last project used a heavy modified Quake Engine.
It's weird that these games were essentially contemporaries, but they don't really jive right. This is an honest and involved project undoubtedly, but it doesn't work well.
what is that 3 barreled shotgun
A weapon from another good Quake 1 mod - Arcane Dimensions.
The author of this mod missed the opportunity to call it Quake Nukem.
Or Duke Quakem
How i play quake and this mod ?
I would have called it 'Duke Quakem', but to each their own.
Is there a way to play other quake maps with quake arcane dimensions mod at the same time? I wanna know how to.
I like how you couldn’t reach medium
Eh, as a cool as it is, Duke3D has more levels in the game than just E1M1. The introductory level is exceptionally awesome though mainly because it made me go "finally, a tribute to Duke3D that ISN'T a remake of Hollywood Holocaust!".
plus all the graphics are blocky and stuff. not good.
@@laserpmr it's literally a quake mod
Oh the irony is stunning.
Ok who mess with the timelines now?
Can you make Duke Nukem in Quake 2?
Are all the episodes there or just the one level?
Sweet mod, despite some original textures were clearly altered...
Pretty sure they would have to, they cannot just use original Duke Nuken 3D textures in a Quake mod. So I suspect that is the case for all of the textures.
As cool as this is, it's still quake enemies, which makes it laughably easier than Duke Nukem.
Duke Quakem?
so you can beat this level just by shooting the self destruct without even goiing near it lol
Where is it? or just a mod from PC
that was awesome
You got SUB!
That intro.. lol
At least it isnt A Quake II Nukem mod

Duke Nuquake 3D.
only one map?
duke quakem? quake dukem?
I would honestly play the shit out of Duke3d on Quake 1 engine.
Duke Nuquake.
Can you get this on nintendo switch?
You can play Quake on the switch, but I'm not sure if you can run mods on it.
Why not "Quake Nukem"?
Duke quakem.
хехе )) годно. Ностальгия

Then Duke It Out in Quake
