This video was shot on like the hottest day of the year. My hair looks like it has some product in it but that's just sweat because for some stupid reason we decided I should wear a leather jacket. The shoot was all day and all through the heat of midday. I went back home to Bardon (just around the corner) at about 4 or so and my grandmothers 90th or something was that day and my family were all there and were disappointed I didn't wanna hang out. I think I fell asleep.
Saw them in Nowich and got one of their CDs. Its just in a plane white sleeve with Y.K.B writen on the CD in marker but it feels like a precious relic of that time.
Lol, I was watching this as it came on JTV. Watch these guys explode into fame now...They deserve it. Fingers crossed they don't let it go to their heads.
Brilliant, if I had a spare million dollars I'd invest it into this band... if I had any money at all I'd go and see them. Pity I'm all the way over in Perth :(
Brother hold your head this way, And bustle to the front of the line; 'cause if they catch your eyes before you get inside Well, you'll never be allowed. People got a name for us 'cause we escape the strain of the days Oh we stretch at the sides and bend in the middle But we never ever break. But if you're feeling that way now, Or if you ever feel so inclined - Skip past the doors of boring forty somethings and rise. Oh, and if you want to lose your frown, Or your name or even your face - Lick up a dream that seemingly sings with whistling neon breath. Come and have a drink with us, A little wine or a nice champagne? Oh thanks that's nice, and I would decline, But at night things seem to change. People got a name for us, 'cause we escape the strain of the days - Oh we stretch at the sides and bend in our minds But well never ever change. And if you're feeling that way now, Or if you ever feel so inclined, Well, kick in the shins of all those fucking whingers and rise. Oh and if you want to lose your frown, Or your name or even your face, Lick up a dream that seemingly sings with whistling neon breath. Sid was at the gates of dawn, And Jimmy said ride the snake: So we bent our spoons and howled at the moon To find what science replaced. And it turns out it ain't that much Though I may have missed it in the haze - Oh drips in the mind and fills up your eyes But well never be the same. (Shhh) But if you're ever coming down, Or if you ever take too much - Remember that's much better than never ever getting enough. So if your want to lose your frown, Or your name or even your face, Lick up a dream that seemingly screams with rushing neon death. All your spirits gone, and you are barley alive. You hand me a smoke, though its like you hardly notice. And its sad I suppose - When I look into your eyes you say: It seems to go this way, no matter what's at stake, Oh it seems to go this way with everything I start! So if you're feeling that way now, Or if you ever feel so inclined - Skip past the doors of boring forty somethings and rise. Oh but if you want to loose your frown, Or your name or even your face - Lick up a dream that seemingly sings with rushing neon death.
these guys have become my favourite band!!! ever since seeing them live in bris.. absolultely my style of music..i also love how they are named after the artist yves klein... his works at bris gallery and i have heard thet there is a vid of these guys playing there...
great band - saw them in london a week ago. Deffo one to keep an eye on. Keep touring boys - the tragic oz expats are pathetically grateful when the antipodeans tour. (Plus we get to see you guys play in smaller venues than you would back home. Definite plus!)
it came out on their first EP called "Yves Klein Blue Draw Attention To Themselves" which was released in 2008 and is fo shiz balls awesome and then on their debut album "Ragged & Ecstatic" which is also awesome and that was released this year
These guys probably find it completely normal to write a song like this. I don't think they realize how awesome they are. Phenom video quality too. USA loves you.
this song is awesome!! love them! i tried finding out the name for this song for ages.. off the add. i even put subtitles on! haha well they were worth it
My god I found it….I have been looking for this song for years……I could only remember they played in front of a dome….the tune literally came into my head today….so random.
i am someone who jus loves classic rock and only classic rock. modern day rock i cant get into, it all sounds so much the same. but this, this band right here, has something different, something ver original, and its fantastic, after years of living in my classic roc box, i may juss break out
These are amazing lyrics! Crazy song! "Brother hold your head this way, and bustle to the front of the line cus if they catch your eyes before you get inside Well, you'll never be allowed. "
There's a kick arse Portuguese band called Pluto, their album: Bom Dia. If you like this, you'll love Pluto. Might be hard to find but it's worth it ;)
I watched this song on ABC's rage back in 2009, thinking it was a really good song but confronted and somewhat perplexed by the way they represented themselves i.e. the fashion, the hair, and the low quality vintage footage. Now if you look around today it seems that everyone under the age of 25 is obsessed with "vintage" & wearing their grandparents clothes in the strive for "Indie". This just goes to show how this band is a true reflection of what means to be indie. Indie= Independent.
i predict this band going huge. I for one only listen to classic rock and classic rock only, i hate modern day rock because i think none of it has any flavor, or originallity(excuse my spelling). But these guys i can see going huge, they are incredibly talented and have a very fresh sound. HOORAY FOR GOOD MUSIC!!
i watch this video on a daily basis....id love to have it on my ipod...or even my record player...but i cant have my cake n eat it too right??...right?
Saw these guys open for VHS or BETA at the HiFi in Melbourne. They were brilliant. So much energy. They've got a bit of a Kooks thing going on minus the cockney slur.
This song, this album :D inspired me so much... but if you mention Syd and Jim I am listening + THAT FUCKING SOUND :D good memories of driving the car so far opposite of sober but sure as fuck not drunk
Here's a hint. "The Piper At The Gates of Dawn" was a Pink Floyd album described as demonstrating the genius of Syd Barrett, a founding member of the group who left because of mental illness exacerbated by the use of LSD. Jim Carrey performed a Saturday Night Live skit called "Jimmy Tango's Fat Busters" in which "Jimmy Tango" explained that the secret to losing weight was to use amphetamines, a practice he referred to as "riding the snake".
I saw these guys supporting The Teenagers last year. Nobody even knew who they were and kinda just stood around. My friend and I were pretty much the only ones bopping around. Ha!

I can't believe how long ago 10 years was. Glad you're still rockin
It’s a shame I didn’t hear about these guys until after they split
Who can tell me about the lyrics and the inspiration to this song?
I have been listening to this for 12 years and it still beats anything on the radio.
Slaps hey same haha… I actually haven’t heard it in like 10 years and got in my head tonight 😂😂😂
I hate the fact that I have only just discovered this band and they are no longer together! They are awesome!
I discovered this band one week ago 💀
@@matildepiovano1540 2 weeks ago for me...
Ahh, I definitely thought this was by The Fratellis when I heard it in the commercial!
Saw them in Nowich and got one of their CDs. Its just in a plane white sleeve with Y.K.B writen on the CD in marker but it feels like a precious relic of that time.

First heard this on MTV and had no clue what's it called or by who, and then it was on the car ad. Glad I've finally found it.
Who the hell can dislike such an upbeat and awesome song like this???
Brilliant, if I had a spare million dollars I'd invest it into this band... if I had any money at all I'd go and see them. Pity I'm all the way over in Perth :(
I remember voting for this band for Storm the Charts and buyng a copy but sadly there weren't enough of us to break the charts.
no wonder i couldnt find this song! when i heard it on the radio it sounded like they were saying 'equine blue'..thanks mitsubishi ad!

I watched this band in Liverpool a few years ago and was very impressed with them.Looking forward to listening to their album Ragged and Eccstatic.

Jolly cheerful, like everything from the Happy Land Down Under. Love the lead guitar!

You are probably right. Jim Morrison sang about "riding the snake" in his song "The End.
