I think this changing the field in PhD and do different things than what you have done in masters or at work is a common concern for applicants. I think it should be normal because we usually don’t have many options in masters course. For me, I always wanted do something on maternal and child health but in my MPH my professor suggested me to be a part of the project on NCD. So my first-authored publication is on T2DM. Now, I want to do MCH in my PhD program but struggling to explain it in my SOP. Thank you for tips.
