Kyra Hirsch it’s not overpriced actually,in mint condition it’s worth $2500 and this is mint, It’s a fucking 60s Gibson what are you expecting to pay????? Yeah you occasionally find them for cheap on Craigslist from an old couple that’s had it for 50 plus years who don’t know what it’s worth.
These guitars fit in a clasaical guitar case yet often sound as big as a dreadnaught. The neck feels like a 59 les paul besides the 1 and 9/16 nut. Great fingerpicker that can also keep clarity during heavy strumming.
I have B-25N like this, a 1966. It is a little cannon when you push it with a strong strum yet still clear when you play single notes or do finger style. That price is basically ten times what the guitar cost when new. I bought mine from a guy I went to college with for $50.00 and I would not sell it. Ever. The smaller body size makes it very comfortable to play. The neck is a bit thinner than larger gui- tars but that is part its playabilty. Great for acoustic blues, too. As Michael said, they are also excellent guitars to record with. A small body guitar with the true Gibson acoustic sound is a great combination. At almost $1700, that seems a bit much but I'll bet cash in the hand would bring that price down, maybe to even $1350. This one is in very good condition. Most I've seen have a bit more wear and price out around $1300-1500. I don't know if that's a good deal or not but you would be very happy with the guitar if you like a vintage Gibson acoustic. It was a student model when it came out. But well built, resonant and easy to play.
Episode 006. What a great guitar to have if you know you're going to be doing studio work. For a 1968 Gibson, that gem is definitely affordable. It's called a savings account and a budget, boys and girls.
Chables - You know that some people that are born into poor families actually take the initiative to get themselves out of that predicament, while others just complain about how people who have more than they do, don't deserve what they have.
Nice playin' brother! I know it's no b25 but I have a 1958 LG0 with original alligator case in near mint original condition. I must say its a boom box and the Brazilian Rose wood bridge and fingerboard are beautiful.......... nicely done! Enjoyed!
Beautiful work, Joel. ✡️ I am really kicking myself over selling my B-25. It was a great all around instrument that gave me a lot of joy. I shall find another one day.
I have a ‘68 J50 ... and I am just about to put it in for a bridge reset... Edit to add: bridge now reglued, done perfectly and guitar has more sustain.
Bought my ‘67 B-25 about a decade ago for under a grand. Had already been replaced with a rosewood bridge and bone saddle. Easily my favorite Gibson acoustic.
After spending about that on a 2011 000-18 a few months ago I'm asking for a mulligan! Nice Gibson, and holy crap this is one of my top favorite videos for hearing such impressive talent from Mr Lemmo! Wow!
Just picked up one of these on the cheap. In my opinion, other than maybe a late 60s Gibson Hummingbird, it is the perfect sounding (and playing) acoustic guitar. Apples and oranges I know, but it doesn't make it any less true.
Also - the Les Paul Headstock Syndrome, as explained most recently from a John 5 YT vid...makes sense because anything with a set neck that is decades old and made out of natural materials will age and shift. You want the age. But the neck angle not only makes it difficult to play, it completely clobbers the angular stiffness (for lack of a more literate term) of the length of the instrument, so it will start to absorb energy from the overall sound, which is why sometimes an instrument can sound simply dead when there's nothing else visibly wrong with it. Also, with the bridge not being tight, the coupling is severely degraded between the string energy and guitar top, which is your natural amplification surface, the radiant area distributing the energy from the strings into the acoustic cavity where the rest of the mixing happens before we get the sweetness hitting our ears. All this stuff clobbers the freely passing around of energy in the instrument, disrupting not just sustain and resonance but making it sound shitty and weak in general. At that point, it's a crime not to restore it and get someone playing that thing. When I start to deserve $1500 guitars, I will have a couple like this...no matter your wood aging tech/methods/process/whatever, nobody can replicate or refute Time. It would have been a shame to see this baby sitting in a case or display somewhere, unlikely to ever be held again, heard again...truly loved again. Because if you truly love a guitar, you can't not play it, no matter the value society puts on it.
cool playing and passion , Lemmo- Has anyone ever noticed that the 1960-70 era Gibson acoustic guitars sometimes make your finger tips ache after 10-15 minutes of playing no matter how seasoned of a guitarist you are? Well, my sonic friends - this is attributed to the FACT- that Gibson used a very dense- Steel Truss Rod- The truss rod's mass and center of gravity provides the ' NASAL TONE' of the neck adds awesome Gibson NECK tone also regarded as the infamous ; ' BELL TONE ' to the overall acoustics of the guitar- but like I mentioned- it causes the fingertips to sting- everything's a trade off- but that is one of the MYSTERIES of vintage Gibson guitars- SOLVED for you- by me- Moonbeam JIm- folk rock jazz World styles musician/guitarist/song writer/ vocalist
If it was in Europe for this price I would buy it. Of course it is disputable what is affordable. For me 1700$ for 50 years old Gibson in good shape and with such a good sound it is affordable.
Finally a demo where you hear the guitar and not some scrappy reverb amp from Sears. Still have to argue with it being affordable. But the demos are getting better. It nice to see abd hear for once just how good a player you are.
It such a shame that you don’t record these guitars with a prober mic. I myself got a B-25 from 1966 and as much as I am sure, that your B-25 sounds just as good as mine, the video unfortunately doesn’t really shows...
well if you live wih your parents and have a job technically you'd have more money to be able to afford this guitar since you would most likely not have to pay for food, rent, etc.
Amazing how fixing something to make it good again can make it worth less. It's not like it's had a refinish or had the tuners replaced and holes drilled out on the headstock. Sometimes the bonkers vintage market works in our favour. It sounds great and that is a reasonable price. Thanks for the video.
Primo - now people will know more stuff about the things that get referenced but don't have time to really get explained. Trusted sources of content are gold in this age of overwhelming dreck. All you self-publishers give me hope that someday I will have something of value that many people will want to see demonstrated and we all become even collectively smarter and more skilled.
$1700 is not expensive for a 68 Gibson , come on , yah it's had some work , but that just makes it better than it obviously was , restored to original playing condition , as clearly demoed by Lemmo , those Zeppelin songs were excellent by the way Mark. Nice work Joel
Just goes to show if you want a great sounding guitar to PLAY not just look at by getting a great craftsman like Joel to cast his magic on it you get a vintage guitar that knocks a Sigma or similar out of the park! Please make us musicians aware of these fantastic bargains on the new site - 'Players Corner' or 'Musician's Muses'? They would sell quicker than Mark's expensive items! Keep up the good work both Joel and Lemmon. Greetings from across the Pond
No, it isnt. Complain about the pricetag insinuates they're asking too much for what it is. Complaining it isn't affordable is saying this Web series is called "affordable favorites." Not "this guitar is worth what we're asking and if it's out if your budget, a bunch of middle aged men will condescend you and then wonder why no one gives a fuck about guitar music anymore"
Chables wahhh waaaah. What do you want to see? A fucking Squier? A Fender T bucket acoustic? Cmon man. That would be affordable but who the fuck wants to see that?
Kielland Supernault I disagree. I have a solid rosewood Japanese Sigma I got for just under 400. Blueridge makes more affordable solid guitars, Alvarez, Nippon Gaki Yamahas... I could go on. And I still say, it's not supposed to be "affordable for what it is." Especially since B25s were selling for 700 bucks all day long not 10 years ago. The artificial inflation in the used guitar market is trash. in fact, I might be wrong, but hasn't Mark done one of these? If we're gonna have the same guitars on this AND guitar of the day, I see this show losing its plot fast.
You had to figure that a loaded word like “affordable” would end up being the springboard for all sorts of class-shaming. If I had a good reason to buy a $1.7K acoustic guitar, I’m sure I could come up with the funds; however, my natural parsimony compels me to consider ~value~ first. And if that means owning something from China, so be it.

Don’t understand the people that don’t like this, wants not to like, would love to see you do an original series fender 60’s tele, lake placid blue, for the difference in price between there and England it might be cheaper to fly over have a holiday and buy one .... hummm I’m sure the wife would understand 😇
Much prefer hearing from Joel when he explains what he did to the guitar, and why, as opposed to his adolescent photo bombing and all-around store clown persona. Do we have M.L. to thank for that? BTW, Repair Room is a cool setting for Lemmo Demos.
thats very true but it wouldnt have solid wood, it wouldnt have aged wood and it wouldnt be a vintage guitar. im not saying any of those things make a guitar better than another but if you were in the vintage guitar market its a great price for what it is
C’mon Lemmo. Do some New 400 to 500 dollar Epiphone Or Yamaha or Taylor acoustics. Do you honestly think the average working class musician is gonna have 16 grand to drop on one instrument? I hope this series doesn’t become “my affordable but still very expensive to most musicians favorites”.
"16 grand..."?? The price is $1695. Sixteen grand is $16,000 not $1600 - a factor of 10x in difference. Maybe you need to go back to basic arithmetic class and learn how numbers work...
Oh I didn’t see the comma next to the one. If they had put that comma I would known the guitar costs $1,695 instead of $16,000. I naturally thought it was $16,000 because I did not see a comma in the front of the one next to the six in the title of this video
Complaining about affordability. What do you people want to see? Squier? 2017 Epiphone? Fender T Bucket? Geezus. Go to your local Guitar Center and see all the affordable guitars you want. If your looking for a $300 affordable guitar YOU’RE WATCHING THE WRONG CHANNEL.
I like this series, and it's great to see the luthier involved. Great playing as ever
I like these almost as much as guitar of the day. Lemmo is a great player!
Great series keep it up! Love Lemmo’s playing!
Glad you showed that. I play my ‘68 tobacco sunburst B25 everyday. Love the size.
That's a great sounding guitar. Joel did a great job. I'd buy it.
Thanks for including Joel's input on this guitar. So many people don't appreciate a musical instrument for what it is and what it can do.
1700$ for a good condition 60's Gibson acoustic is definitely affordable. Its a vintage instrument.
Well... Ppl are getting these for 200$+ so uh... I dont think anyone would be stupid enough to buy one for 1700$
Ya that is so overpriced it’s actually gross. Hate seeing people take music into a fraudulent business like that.

Folks this is a great deal for a vintage guitar. There are plenty of 100$ entry level guitars. Great sound and awesome playing, thank you Mr. Lemmo.
..that's a good buy ... especially with the neck reset and the bridge fix ....thx Lemmo

Joel actually gave good information. Seems to know what he’s talking about.

I want to see more Esteban guitars. They should do a show "guitars for people with poor parents."

Is the one you have a episode on this same repair
That is a great sounding acoustic.
$1692 is really pushing the limits of affordable
Adamnme01 lol ikr
Not really considering most new acoustics of high quality cost more than that. This is vintage and in good shape
You have to argue the price.
What do you want to see Chinese guitars everyday.
I disagree. Each of my vintage guitars were 2k. I’m looking at the builder edition from Taylor at 4999. Get a degree and get a real job.
Really liking the lemodemos
Nice work gentlemen......
I learned to play on my Dad’s ‘63 B-25.
Nice vid!!
Dude your Makin me want to buy one

I think it should go for a thousand. But still it is a very beautifull instrument.😍
To own a 60s gibson acoustic guitar for 1600 bucks is awesome. Move out of your parents house and get a job if this is too expensive.
Guitar ocd agree
The repair would probably be $1,000. Obviously they're waiting for a Squier acoustic for $199 then they will be happy. Lool
well if you live wih your parents and have a job technically you'd have more money to be able to afford this guitar since you would most likely not have to pay for food, rent, etc.
Stay in your parent's house, save like a mad man or woman for a year ,then get the hell out

Hey Joel, what is that Star of David tattoo??
More Joel
agreed ...... love to see him working on these vintage guitars too
Consider all the other instruments available at that price. I've seen 2nd-hand HD-28Vs for that price.
How much to reset a 1995 SJ 200 minus the shipping?
Are there 2 Joels at NRG? Who’s Norman’s son?
Awesome

gus dupree 13 gauge guitar strings. Medium gauge for an acoustic and heavy gauge for an electric.

Holy shit man.
Gibson B-25s go for about $800 on Reverb and eBay.

RIGHT
tiny b *casually ignores the issues with the one in this video*
He reset the neck and put a new wooden bridge on it. In the real world that's $1,000 of work. He made it a better guitar.

Dustin DarkCyde kinda custard pie ish ,jammin on that sort of, at least to me
Nice guitar,, nice price too.
Can you put keys tabs riffs please... Please
Definitely affordable for a 60s guitar

bring out a NOVA acoustic for all these people whining about how this 1960'S GIBSON ACOUSTIC isn't affordable..
Nice guitar, plays well and and good repairs on it. $1,700 that's ludicrous
Curtis John Cole or as Tyson would say ,ludacwis , but as in to cheap or to expensive ? Cause nah
its a 1960's gibson.. Good luck finding
another one for less
Kielland Supernault -why would I want a 1960's Gibson, acoustic that is. I can get a nice brand new Martin for that price.
thats very true but it wouldnt have solid wood, it wouldnt have aged wood and it wouldnt be a vintage guitar. im not saying any of those things make a guitar better than another but if you were in the vintage guitar market its a great price for what it is
I think the point is you can own a vintage guitar at a affordable price.

Affordable is relative. Compared to 10-20 thousand dollar instruments these are very affordable.
"affordable"
with the Gibson fiasco, it could up real fast in value. I have a 2009 humming bird and it has gained 1k so far but she is too awesome to let go of.
