I am human who was born in SovietUnion. And i remember that all religion was removed/destroyed and replaced with KGB imposters. Thank you for you videos. Hello from Ukraine !
Konstantin has a video on why he left the Orthodox Church. Right after he was baptized as an infant, his parents began to be persecuted. As it turned out, the remote rural priest who baptized him was a KGB agent who reported his parents to the authorities for having him baptized. There is no question that he is a Christian, however, just not an Orthodox one.
Incidentally, I was homeless, like many veterans, I got myself out of the street by putting all my faith and trust exclusively in myself. All the people who put their faith in anything else especially religion are still dying in the streets.
Well - It worked for you. It seems like a lot of people get help with 12 step programs. They get people to admit there is a power greater than themselves.
@@daniellarson3068 No, more like -- the 12 step programs only work for a small percentage of people. Success stories can happen anywhere. The rest of the people that need help who won't follow your religious 12 step program? In the eyes of the people 'helping', they aren't worth the help. That is not humanitarianism, that is indoctrinating the weak into a cult with a promise of 'help' -- if they follow everything you say and do.
How do you know they are dying? Judge not and you will not be judged. I am happy you did that for yourself. But now move mountains, that was the second half of the comment, but just not being homeless but helping others and serving others and moving mountains. Not just simply getting a roof. And even if they do remain on the street as a person of faith they are trying to better their soul. A lot of people with homes are lost souls. They are not serving humanity but full of pride and boastfulness about what they did.

I am speaking here as an American Protestant. The problem with the Orthodox church in Putin's Russia dates back to its origins in the Orthodox church of the Byzantine Roman Empire. There were periods of time in the Eastern Roman Empire where the Eastern Caesar was treated as if he were the de facto head of the church, and its "protector." (In the Western Church, the Pope's battles with various kings helped lay down the notion of the church and the state being separate institutions, and this was later reinforced by the proliferation of various protestant sects). After the fall of the Eastern Roman Empire to the Ottomans, The Russian Orthodox church took up the idea that Russian was going to be the third Rome (a lot of European history seems to be about attempts to restore the Roman Empire) and the new " protector" of the church was the "Czar" (or tsar). The Russian word for Caesar. The Russian Orthodox church took over the ideas of the Byzantine church. So there is a long tradition in Russian of the church being subject to the head of state, who ever he turns out to be. Putin has been able to use that to his advantage, just like any of the czars Russia has ever had. And the Russian Orthodox church's 'baptism" into Communism (so to speak) has only reinforced a tendency to obey the head of state. I know the Russians Orthodox (as opposed to its clergy) cannot now see this message now, but I can't help thinking you are also trying to reach out to them. Let me say to you that emphasizing Catholicism (how Poland got free of Communism) , is not the way to do that. The word "Orthodox" comes from the Greek word 'orthos' which means "correct" or 'straight.' And the Greek word "doxa" which means "opinion' or 'praise' (i..e. speaking). If you were orthodox, you had a "correct opinion" and were a "straight speaker," as opposed to being someone who spoke with a crooked tongue and thought wrong things. This attitude came fully into being around the second century of Christianity. There was a cannon of scripture. And then, like all cannons, there came into being Mary Sue fiction ("I'm the only one who really knows what it all means"), Crossover fiction (Christianity and Platonism), Alternate universe fiction (false gods creating an endless string of false realities), and - God help us - possibly slash fiction. The printing press had not been invented yet, so Christians had to rely on their bishops who had copies of the cannon and were intelligent enough to straighten this mess out. So being a "straight speaker" with "correction opinions" became extremely important. And the Eastern Christian Bishops over time had come to depend on the Christian Eastern emperors calling councils together to assist in keeping things "straight." When the Bishop of Rome started asserting his supremacy over all other bishops, the Eastern bishops thought that idea was speaking with a crooked tongue and the Great Schism took place. There was now a Catholic (which means "universal") church and an Orthodox church. Relations between them took a big hit when one of the Catholic Crusades sacked Constantinople before heading further east. And this weakened Constantinople enough for it to later fall to the Ottomans and ended the Eastern Roman Empire. The Orthodox never forgot that. Orthodoxy has within it an implied tendency to be suspicious of anything outside it. If I alone have the correction opinion, the straight speech, then anything else does not and can not. So bringing up Catholicism in an Orthodox context has to be done very very carefully. I agree that Zelinsky did the right thing in banning the Russian Orthodox clergy from Ukraine. They were all likely FSB agents reporting what they saw or heard to Putin. But raises the interesting question of what Orthodoxy in Ukraine will now look to if not a Czar of all the Russias.
The separation of church and state was indeed inspired by the Holy Romam Empire and Vatican political interference... but the Vatican definitely wasn't considered to be a positive example. The Russian Orthodox Church is headed by an ex-FSB colleague of Putin which pretty much says it all. Church used to be the basis of organised life as the provider of explanations and belief gave us a reason to co-operate with strangers outside our close social group. With the enlightenment science began to give us other means of explanation and the (immediate) relevance became lost. Having lost it's grand relevance it is increasingly co-opted and distorted by politicians (witness Trump) or autocrats (Stalin now Putin) as just another tool - truly the opiate of the masses, Marx would be proud. Which fit's quite nicely with Buddhism, lot of truth in the concept most of the problems in life are caused by us chasing things we think we want or running from things we think we fear - you can scale that up to Ukraine, Putin chases something he thinks he wants and destroys what he has in the process. Hi Mark thank you for another interesting video☝🏻 I noticed some dark prophecy RUclips channels usually narrated in Polish language but also provided with many different language subtitles. These messages are stated as from God father, son Jesus , mother Mary , archangel Michael often very dark and depressing molding you to the state you are already lost… I would say kind of mental anesthesia. I’m suspicious that this could be work done from darkside… Greetings from Slovakia
It is awesome to see you in Poland. I wanted to tell it like two month ago when you moved to from the USA forest to our countryside. It is good to have you showing the eveil of Russia and his roots. This war has awakened in may people and Poland the memory of the Russian colonialism and the constant pathologic lies on many levels they forced the society to. Thanks for your knowledge and engagement.
Negative thinking in general is very harmful. Resentments are even worse. Don't let others drag you down to their level where they will surely beat you with their experience
In 1989 Poland caste off the Yoke of Soviet oppression. Causing a chain reaction which culminated in the complete collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. Poland defeated the mighty Soviet Union through civil disobedience.
Very well said about the religion. It’s unfortunate that conservative Americans cant see it this way, they are convinced that Christian values rule in Russia, because they are against LGBQ issues.
Caustic skeptic? I like that. I have to remember that. I have always been told I have a bad attitude, especially when I quote a Bible verse that contradicts the prevailing beliefs of the Bible believers. Glory to Ukraine!
My favorite book of the Bible is Revelation. I first read it in about 1980. My brother gave me an album (on vinyl) by Vangelis titled "666". So, I put on the album, lit up a joint and read it straight through. It was a magical experience.
Karl-Heinz Deschner wrote a book "Criminal history of Cristianity" this are almost 10000 pages and 100 000 sources of cruelties the catholic church is responsible. No evel is not exceptions in the church, is the rule. The basic of any religion is to strengthen bounds within the comunity and declare all others as bad.
I would write something 10 times as large on the good deeds and a similar good on the medical profession. But I am not giving up on medicine and science. To say humans are imperfect is not an insight its a truism. Thank you friend.
I like to think that the worst part of me hates everything equally, infinitely: because then it isn't tribal, and everyone would equally rightly see it as evil if it were expressed. And the best part of me loves everything equally, infinitely more than the hatred can hate. And, well, I haven't done anything truly horrible to anyone out of malicious intent, so it seems to work well enough.
What? "Free speech and religion are twins?" You mean like one is an evil twin with a goatee and an eye-patch... Since when has religion welcomed free speech when it comes to sowing doubt about its doctrine? Ask Galileo how much free speech the Catholic church permitted. Or Salman Rushdie... Or... Or...
Every human bureaucracy is flawed as we are humans that make these, not angels or saints. However, you look at the negative, look at the positive things, countless the church does for the world. You can not have a negative filter. Freedom of religion and free speech are almost the same. Of course each church defends it dogma, but that is not what we are talking about, we are talking as a humanist, we all can choose freely and openly which set of ideals we ascribe to.
@EconLessons There can be no freedom of religion for the true believer. There's only one truth, anything else is either a warped interpretation or a straight up lie. You either hold on to a lie, full or partial, or you hold onto the truth and won't compromise it for anything. Consequently, anyone who's not holding onto the same truth as you is lost and damned. There's no need for artificial complexity to reconcile a self-contradiction in this line of thought, unlike denying the supernatural while also believing in the God. That's why it's powerful, convincing, and will always drive a wedge between the true believers and the rest of us.
What is the percentage of wars not fought over religion? Religion causes wars. It is per definition an exclusion of rational thoughts and rational approach to situational problems.
Wow! Another excellent analysis! The secular state has throughout history desired to subordinate religion for state purposes. Russian Orthodox church is a creature of the state not seen in Europe since the Divine Right monarchies of Europe. Russian culture in Mongol, and Russia did not experience the Reformation or Enlightenment as a people in a way the rest of Europe experienced it. Since individualism and human rights (humanism) are a basis of the Judeo-Christian faith, these faiths must be subdued by the State (censored and outlawed) to stop opposition to government tyranny.
3:20 I am trying to get what German word you said (uffpabaggen?) it is hard to get due to your unusual pronunciation. Going with the meaning of Cancel / sustain / elevate I have no sure candidate either. Aufgeben?
@@EconLessons Ah. Thank you. The modern form is Aufhebung, which has every day meaning of canceling or up-lifting. But I see it has extra meanings in philosopy. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aufheben
Wow! This video was different. I get the Putin is very afraid of true belief. However, some of the other stuff that was talked about was outside my world. Catholic, Orthodox and Slavic people really do have a kind of world of their own. I guess many of us in the United States would say that Russian religion is not "true" religion.
@EconLessons religion is a business, plenty of good virtuous folks that give it its animated life but dig a little deeper, I'm referencing the catholic church specifically, it may have been pure in its intent before the Roman state wove it through its system of government but its rarely been a force of good since, it's a system that is craven in its pursuit of power, they and their state buddy's with guns and a few other christian denominations essentially destroyed or genocided our most ancient continuous spirituality of humanity, that of the aboriginals of Australia, I've had the good fortune of hearing first hand from aboriginal friends how they were persecuted and denied their language and customs, the church purposely did that around the globe to anyone they felt they had the upper over, these people never asked for that to be done to them, the religion and the state with guns did to these people what russia is doing to the Ukrainians, I walked out of that institution 42 years ago at age 16, I saw some horrific abuse from the clergy to kids in their care, I've never set foot in one of their churches since, sorry if I'm soap boxy and I actually hang out for your takes on the war
The Monguls worshipped Tengri is litteraly the great sky. So you can say the Christians worship God in heaven. While the wild men of the steppe worshipped heaven itself
German here. I can’t figure it out. I really tried, but I can’t figure out what that German word mentioned at around 3:20 could be. “Oofhabeggen”is what I hear him say. Maybe that is meant to be “aufarbeiten”. That’s the closest sounding German word I could come up with. But that doesn’t make too much sense in the context.
I am human who was born in SovietUnion. And i remember that all religion was removed/destroyed and replaced with KGB imposters.

However always the iconoclast myself and nonconformist and in public highschool years became an actual 'activist' when there was almost no such thing, the 1980's america! You are a light and today or a month ago now, u are just what the doctor ordered! Love your mentions of religion, culture, and shoutouts to those great Ukrainian and Ukr supporters online!
Excellent, Mark! This is one that I'll watch a 2nd or 3rd time. There are so many key points made.
Amen. Amen. Amen. And more for the algo.
Karen Horney: A fun read:

Excellent soap box PSA Mark!
I pegged you as a sigma. Usually trinitarian. We each carry our own cross, prefer the path less traveled, and believes to be "worthy" is to save as many as we can.
Thank you for sharing. Blessings brother
You are a very wise man love and peace to all

Excellent video and reminder to rein in the negative dark desires. Thank you so much for this message. I needed this today. 💙💛💫
Excellent pep talk!

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
Kudos to Poland and John Paul ii. My father came from Krakow and I've been there several times. A Canadian in Toronto
Kiril Gundayev is a former KGB agent - this tells us everything we need to know about the nature of the Russian Orthodox Church.
I'm 74 years old. When I was a teenager in the 1960s, it was a time of Billy Graham, evangelicans and born again Christians, in England anyway. I remember the Christians in Russia being persecuted and having to go underground to practice their beliefs. Slava Ukraini 🇺🇦🇬🇧

I'm sad i can't make jokes about tickling this time.
I can say this though, i really appreciate your content on a daily basis, i'm a subscriber and every single time i upvote and like your videos. Keep it going good man. You're doing a great job and it's much appreciated.
Jake Broe is a good man, and you are too. I think one has to be bitter and angry at the world to support Putin. Long live freedom and all peaceful nations ❤❤❤
Excellent
Bravo!❤
Wow! My head is spinning.
youtube is a great source of this kind of info. because i need to listen parts of this over and over in order to understand it. this is much like when i read extremely technical literature for my job. it is not easy to digest subjects so intermixed as religion, politics and economics. each a brainfull on their own.
My main take on Freud:
Emotional ambevelancy is an innate human condition.
Listened 2 twice. Worth a third sometime.
One of the most disrespectful things humanity has done is get rid of that they do not take the time to understand.
Thank you . Strength and love.
But it was taught, even promoted by those that could only be above all. That inherently brings it all down. The wars of recent history have demolished oasis, flattened the blossom of beauty , replaced it with desecration. The silence of the people was the cause. Thank you Strength and Love .
Ukraine Matters guy is Latvian, his wife is Ukrainian
Yes, that is correct, thanks, I like his no nonsense style. Poor guy I think he lost his hearing lately partially.
I followed Freud's footnotes into a will to power and the eternal return.
when you talk about Anna, I asked her last Saturday if she was a believer and she said she was and Orthodox but mentioned that it was Orthodox from Ukraine.
It sounded like the ghost that is in the old faith (if it is from Norse mythology then on the description it sounds like Freya)
is from Sweden and is not religious and there is a majority here who do not follow any religion and it works quite well without it
All of life is a miracle. Find yourself worthy of that miracle.
Absolutely spot on - Darth Putin won’t prevail for the very reasons you outline ✨
Mark, in happy you are grounded with your faith.
Good analysis of religious power within dictatorships.
Hi Mark thank you for another interesting video☝🏻 I noticed some dark prophecy RUclips channels usually narrated in Polish language but also provided with many different language subtitles. These messages are stated as from God father, son Jesus , mother Mary , archangel Michael often very dark and depressing molding you to the state you are already lost…
I would say kind of mental anesthesia.
I’m suspicious that this could be work done from darkside…
Greetings from Slovakia
It is awesome to see you in Poland. I wanted to tell it like two month ago when you moved to from the USA forest to our countryside. It is good to have you showing the eveil of Russia and his roots. This war has awakened in may people and Poland the memory of the Russian colonialism and the constant pathologic lies on many levels they forced the society to. Thanks for your knowledge and engagement.
I am in All things and All things are in Me.🙏This world is a bridge, cross it but dont build your house upon it.
Its very strange. "all are welcome in my church'.
Caustic skeptic? I like that. I have to remember that. I have always been told I have a bad attitude, especially when I quote a Bible verse that contradicts the prevailing beliefs of the Bible believers. Glory to Ukraine!
You are so right ❤
Thank you, Mark.
Josyp Tereyla said, back in the 80s or 90s, Russiya could be slowed down from taking over the world if she joined NATO. He said a lot more
I've honestly been struggling with what your talking about.
I let hatred into my heart and it IS a vile poison. Thanks for speaking truth.
My favorite book of the Bible is Revelation. I first read it in about 1980. My brother gave me an album (on vinyl) by Vangelis titled "666". So, I put on the album, lit up a joint and read it straight through. It was a magical experience.
I love the book of Revelations and it has many levels of interpretations.
@@EconLessons Many, many levels. It also connects many themes that were present in many religions and cultures that preceded it.
Jaw dropping...
Take faith,
act in trust.
Polska mentioned, Polska górą!!! 🇵🇱
Fun fact - If the head of the russian orthodox church was a major in KGB when he meets Putin who was a KGB colonel, who confesses to who?
Peace be with you
I concur!
Are you in Krakow’s Park Jordana? :D Looks familiar
You know it Kamil, thank you and say hi sometime if you see me there.
Only got “good vibes” from this as an atheist who once had mild pagan leanings. Greetings from Estonia.
His cup of fear runneth over.
What is your microphone technique please?
Gopro right from the Camera, then I do a modification to remove external sound. So I do not use a mic.
As a German I have no idea which word you're referencing in the beginning.
Aufarbeiten, glaube ich verstanden zu haben.
Victory Ukraine !
RuZZia go home now !
ufhebung. In Hegel's philosophy,
Or... Or...
Exactly. Any student of history can see the downside of religion.
I think he is referring to freedom of speech and freedom of religion. I might be wrong. 🤷
@EconLessons
There can be no freedom of religion for the true believer.
Thanks!
Thank you Leroy
Abolish religion, it separates people, it does more harm than good
3:20 I am trying to get what German word you said (uffpabaggen?)
it is hard to get due to your unusual pronunciation.
Going with the meaning of Cancel / sustain / elevate I have no sure candidate either.
Aufgeben?
I am German and understand "ufhabagn", which isnt German at all. Maybe he can spell it.
@@Lakin3I expect some archaic word, maybe from the Luther bible or some grandios butchering by Mark, who provided a good video again.
ufhebung. In Hegel's philosophy,
@@EconLessons Ah. Thank you. The modern form is Aufhebung, which has every day meaning of canceling or up-lifting. But I see it has extra meanings in philosopy.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aufheben
PS etwas aufheben can also mean keeping something. Tough riddle.
You look great thanks
Wow! This video was different. I get the Putin is very afraid of true belief. However, some of the other stuff that was talked about was outside my world. Catholic, Orthodox and Slavic people really do have a kind of world of their own. I guess many of us in the United States would say that Russian religion is not "true" religion.
Yep, it's been interesting reading all the comments under *this one🌎🌍🌏
Religion is a human construct, it's the following and living of someone else's spirituality, find your own path, much healthier
Agreed
That is what I said. As a humanist we need freedom of expression in religion, and religion is simply returning to the source of who we are.
Aufheben/Aufhebung sorry I should be clearer.
