Visited beautiful Montreal in October some years back, loved it, wondered why the roads where a little rough in spots, this explains it, the clearing must be pretty harsh. Very foreign concept for an Australian, we don’t experience your harsh winter weather here,regards.

It's not just the heavy equipment that's damaging the streets, but the many freeze-thaw episodes. Montreal receives about 190 cm of snow but also about 175 mm of rain or freezing rain per winter. When rain seeps into pavement cracks and freezes, this ice lifts the pavement and will eventually produce what are called potholes.
The introduction to this video is worthy of a professional filmmaker. Bravo. Ironically, Rue Sicard, named after the inventor of the snowblower, hadn't been cleared of snow yet.
