This vehicle is a true work of art in all variants. The absence of wireless CarPlay at this price point is unacceptable and a deal breaker.

While I don't consider wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay a deal breaker, I do agree it's a feature that should be present at this price point. It's auto-connection makes things convenient and keeps the cockpit tidy, but it can also be a nuisance to disconnect when you don't want it running, even in the background (see: phone battery drain). Then you're forced to use the wireless charging which adds unwanted charge cycles to your phone's battery. But those are my issues with it. 😂 Not having CarPlay or AA at all would be a deal breaker for me. I respect your comments and opinion, tho! Thanks for watching!

Nice review. I bought one of the first 2022 GV70 3.5 Sport Prestige's in November 2021, love it and love the concierge service. Personally I would not have bought the EV GV70, charge stations are shaky, and battery technology is rapidly changing, today's EV's will not compete in five years, and too many problem posts on forums. My next vehicle may be an EV, but I'll wait and see what the next generation brings. Also, former BMW and Jaguar owner, and I love the GV70 3.5 Sport Prestige, great design and tech with that 10 year warranty. I am content.

We bought one of these in April/2023...our first EV. Did a 1,600 mile trip - 14 charging stops. Same drive last year in our gas car was 8 stops. For us, infrastructure was not an issue - plenty of charging stations on I-10. At home, we always charge at home overnight - Wife has not been to a gas station since April (5 months). Only service required for the first two years is rotate the tires a couple times. 99% of my Wife's driving is in-town - EV range and charging stations are not an issue...she simply charges at home when needed. Very fast - probably quicker from a dead stop than my 2015 C7 Corvette. Very nice, luxury, quiet car - but I suspect any GV70 is also. If you do alot of regular highway driving - an EV (in general) would be challenging given the extra charging stops needed. But, if most of your driving is around town with the occasional highway drive....this is a great car. My only real complaint is I have to take it to a Hyundai dealer for service - I'm not getting the "higher-end" service experience I had expected (paid for)....maybe that will change when the standalone Genesis dealership is completed later this year in my area...we'll see.

I really like this Genesis! Great review as always Chris...but! Even though I am a Laker fan, my favorite player ever is Dominique Wilkins. What would 'Nique have to say about your backboard there, huh?

🤣 I'm personally a Sixers fan, but I have to look at that backboard every week. 😒 Thanks for watching!

So I just about bought one of these this last week. I got cold feet when I started digging on the service end of things. Most Genesis dealers are joint with Hyundai, not standalone Genesis dealers. Concierge service is almost nonexistent at joint dealers. Wait times to get repairs done/service can be very lengthy and read the reviews of the dealer that would be taking care of yours to get some idea of the service you might receive.
Drivetrains on the GV70 have been having whining / jerking issues as low as 400 miles on the odometer, along with lost power from defective fuel pumps leaving people stranded, the wheel paint peeling to the point it’s happening to many of them along with the chrome trim on windows and door handles failing. Then with those issues you are going to your Hyundai dealer to sort things out, again a hit or miss situation. Genesis says that you should not take them through car washes as that’s what’s leading to the peeling wheels.
Believe me, I wanted to really buy one of these, I absolutely love the styling and everything about them but please read the Genesis horror stories of repairs and the issues they are having. I am 3 hours to the closest dealer and I cannot take that risk yet but when we get a stand-alone dealer next year I think I will take the plunge. I like they are different, you do not see tons of them in the road yet but I think as they add their own dealerships they will be a force to be reckoned with

Our EV is our daily driver. The ICE car sits around waiting for the occasional road trip.

No contest! I would take the gas verison of ANY car over electric.

@@AutoAcademics This is what I don't like about EV cars: People don't realize that U have to be RICH to own one because the upkeep expense is way MORE than a gas car. Also when it breaks down, U HAVE to take it to the dealership because they are the ONLY ones who can fix it and they know this so they are going to ROB EVERYONE EVERYTIME the car needs service because they KNOW they have a monopoly.

    • @AutoAcademics

@@gheechiedan9299 EVs are definitely more expensive than their gas counterparts, but as the technology matures, that will balance out. I agree that they aren't for the mainstream buyer yet, but one day we'll all be able to look at them in a similar way to gas cars.

It's still a new technology that people are getting used to. I drive 5-10 a year now and still learn new stuff about them. Once they become more commonplace, people will become more comfortable and hopefully by then we will have more infrastructure to support them, as well. Thanks for sharing and for watching!
