Topanga Burnside - I already loved the Topanga Reverb, but this one has a built in tremolo!

Sweetwater has a an exclusive version of the Catalinbread Topanga out, and it has an extra trick, a hard chopping tremolo that is applied to the wet signal only. I'm a long time lover of the topanga so getting to check out this special version was a real treat.
I also used the Wampler Belle: imp.i114863.net/vnDEMW
And the Fender Ampro II Jazzmaster: imp.i114863.net/1jjYd

Two Princes montage when you rearranged your room when you got the 2nd Princeton is one of my favorite memories of the channel.
You've gots to keep the two princetons bit!
I actually showed this to Chris Barron (lead singer for the Spin Doctors)....he cracked up. Joked about royalties hahaha
I laugh every time the Two Princes comes on! I think you almost need more of it somehow!?
Keep the two princes. Never stop.
I like the two princes gag. Keep it. A pause for the 2 princes makes it appropriate.
Please keep the Two Princetons gag going. I love it
Every time I hear Ryan laugh, my day seems better, love the Tropanga
Dude, that mini skateboard brought back TechDeck memories in middle school!!
Completely agree, Topanga has never dripped. But the tonality is correct. It's still a great verb, even if not 100% authentic.
I giggle like a little school boy every time I hear the 2 Princes gag. Keep it around!
Definitely gotta keep the Two Princetons ! Cool pedal - thanks for the review...
Great looking and sounding pedal. Also, I love the Two Princetons bit. Somehow still makes me laugh.
The artwork alone is awesome. love the chop
Been enjoying this channel more and more because its gotten me out of the " gotta spend the money to get good tone mindset" that being said I just got the Caverns V2 pedal which is probably the most expensive pedal Ive ever bought . Keep rocking Ryan ! Also just enjoy your infectious joy when it comes to playing music and just making musical noise!
I love how facially expressive you are. It reminds me of myself. It is fun to watch.
Like I said, your enthusiasm is more contagious than covid. Thanks fella!
I bought this based on your video. I needed a good surfy reverb in a box for my board. That trem setting is really cool, as well.
It was awesome. Thank you sir.
All sounded great
Love the two Princetons bit.
You are the Reverb King!!!
I'm all in, just bought one from Sweetwater... thanks Ryan
Great sounding pedal! Closest I've heard to a real spring reverb
My two favorite things. Burnside is a DIY skatepark for those who don't know
I new someone was thinking the same thing I was 😃
THE FIRST large scale DIY park.
love the two princes gag
Very cool!
Nice playing in this one man. That guitar is sweet too.
3:14 The two Princes gag should be expanded upon with the King of Tone. Maybe two Prince of Tones. If the amps could resemble stormtroopers, use a King of Clone instead.
love the two princetons gag. keep it coming
The Walrus Audio Fathom reverb has a volume boost to it no matter what as well. Roll the verb back and kick it on and it too could also be a top contender as the "Klon" of reverbs.
The two princes gag brings me quite a bit of joy.
👍👍 LoL I love the Two Princes meme a fun cheesy flashback to when music was at least good.
Love the Topanga, Kirk Fletcher’s tone inspired me to get one. I guess for me I’m unsure if a two in one would be preferable vs adding a seperate tremolo pedal.
Love that opening bump music
Love my Topanga
Please keep the princes👍
I'm a fan of the gag
Bonjour je viens d' avoir cette pédale....est ce normal que lorsque le trémolo est enclenché la reverbe soit moins intense ?
How many of your viewers still remember the spin doctors? That's the real question. That bit always makes me chuckle a little.
Keep the two princetons gag!
Great video Ryan, I vote to keep the Princeton gag, and for you to give the skateboard to Henry or Edith. Packaging Smackaging. You'll keep in long enough for everyone to forget about what kind of box it came in.
I prefer the tone of the Topanga to the tone of the Surfy Bear. It really nails it better. I find the overuse of drip effect irritating to the point that it's a caricatured cliche. Spring reverb tone with a slight slapback splash is what the Topanga provides that's why I prefer it to the Audio Spring Reverb, which sounds too clinical and digital and also prefer it to the Surfy Bear, which is a bit gimmicky and clichéd. Really good demo, love your enthusiasm as always. Keep it up!
P.s would love if you could link to your Spotify playlist of favourite surf tunes. Love your taste in surf.
Keep the Two Princetons gag! Makes me laugh every time.
That pedal is pretty bad ass.
Hey obviously late to this, but I just picked up one of these used and this video was really helpful as I was getting to grips with it. Thanks man!
glad I could help!
Two Princeton visual is great, please keep it. Also please keep the skateboard for yourself. Give your kids a high-five as you finger-skate on by. They will respect you for it for years to come.
Two Princes forever!
I require an album of the two Princetons.
The pot O gold nostril and the extra slick surf guitar pick
Keep the Two Princetons Ryan
Techdecks are the OG fidget spinners
Bugera has 5W tube amp heads that are pretty affordable, but speaker cabinets are pricey. Do you know of any afforda-cabinet, 1x10 or 1x12?
Keep the two Princetons! Gives me a chuckle.
yeah go funny stuff :) thumbs up
2 Princentons gag should never stop
Keep the two Princetons gag
NEVER STOP USING THE TWO PRINCES MIDI TRACK. NEVER.
...but see if you can pause without giggling. Just deadpan.
Man, come to think of it you kind of look like a young version of the Spin Doctors singer.
Burnside is a DIY Skate Park in Oregan if you didn't know why the skate deck was in there.
I know
@@60CycleHumcast Cool. But you seemed surprised the deck was in there and didn't mention it anywhere. What was your all time favorite skate setup back in the day?
When you are trying out tones, you often play some surfy riffs. I really want to learn them, can you tell us what they are called and who recorded them please?
Most of it is just noodling. Go look up bands like the Ventures, Dick Dale, Link Wray, the Markets, Messer Chumps, Surfrajettes etc.
Just to give you a head start checkout: The Astronauts “Baja”, Dick Dale "Miserlou", The Chantays "Pipeline", The Shadows "Apache", Link Wray "Rumble", and Duane Eddy "Rebel Rouser". Also, checkout Tom Conlon, Anyone Can Play Guitar, and Bruce Lindquist here on youtube for tabs and lessons. Have fun, man!
@@Bohab13 yes, these are very good recommendations.
My personal surf favorite ruclips.net/video/bdbuel4ZDbc/видео.html
Not hard to figure out and play, either. I have no experience with the beach, and don't feel like I need any with this track.
Keep the TWO PRINCETONS theme.
Totally cool rad gnarly wild no Hodads here😧🐠😊
Sotp the princeton gag plz
The real star of the show is that Jazzmaster. The tone is just killer. Especially the neck/bridge bell tones.
Should I get this or the Keely Hydra? they're both around the same price right now
Nissssssssssssssssssce🍻
The Reverb sounds great but the Tremelo does not sound anywhere near as good as the built in one on either the True Spring by Source Audio or the very easily accessable one on the Fender Tre Verb.
I got a mod Rex and a humming tube pre stage Wiggler, any way, when I was a kid, I mostly played with my pot O gold nostril
If the two princes theme stops, I unsubscribe.
I love that 2 princes tune too, as well as the tuna thing.
Reminds me of RL Burnside
Is it like Topanga + Valcoder?
Go buy your kid a toy. you got one.
Could you review a J Masics Squire JM please. I hear they're really good for a Squire but i would like to hear your thoughts on it.
I feel like at this point I dont need to film one, they are well established as great guitars, Ive played a few and been impressed every-time. If you want a JM with a tunomatic bridge and pickups that are more similar to p-90s they are a great buy.
@@60CycleHumcast Ty for the fast reply
The black dots on the whiter than white knobs make them look like googly eyes
What reverbs or delays have effects loops?
The JHS Spring tank has a loop, the walrus bellwether has a loop, those are the first two that come to mind but i know there are more. Wah in a delay or reverb loop is a ton of fun too btw.
If you folks vote down "two princes" I will find you........and you will enjoy my rendition of smoke on the water repeatedly until its back.
👍
👍🏼
Come for the pedal stay for the fingerboarding.
What color is that guitar? Who was the manufacturer?
thats the Fender American Professional II Mystic Surf Green. i have the Miami Blue version of that guitar. it has the same maple neck which i like over my rosewood neck jazzmaster for surf tones. the miami blue JM has Vmod pups, 500k pots and super complicated wiring when doing mods, especially the rythm switch... jeez u need an engineering degree to figure that out. but for the upgrades i put in a masters bridge, changed the spring in the trem bar section. i put Seymour Duncan Antiquity 1s, 1meg pots with a .33 tone cap a mojotone treble bleed, and i switched out the rythm switch cause i couldnt get the original one to work the combos correctly. the vmods are good, but they arent vintage correct at all, even when tapped. but the narrow tall frets register notes nicely and that JM plays amazingly... check one out if ur looking for a good american JM. in all honesty, the guitar sounds great without the mods, but i always change out the fender pups, cause im just not a fan of the non custom shop fender pups. the best fender pups are always wound by josefina, but she only does custom builds. anyways i digress. Theyre cool guitars, for JMs either get the am pro 2 or the original 60s. cheers!
You missed out on tech decks? That takes hours of classroom time to master.
who doesn't love Twins
The Keeley Caverns has a trem on the spring setting, as well.
keep the gag going...... that's what I said now....
Maybe no drip … but definitely moist 💧💧💧
Btw. No Belton Brick in the Topanga.
FV-1
Get the kids a different finger board.
Two princes is good, make the T-shirt
Belle is an ODR-1 and ODR-1s are not Tube Screamers. I know you already know this. I get that. This is for anyone who doesn't and they happen upon this comment. Not a Screamer. Or a Clone or anything.
could we get a drip pedal bake-off, a drip-off?
I'm surprised your keeping the pedal, after ditching an original Topangaa while back. I don't think this version matches with the blue wall. Odd decision 😳
Whats the song at 21:13?
The digital units sound.more like you are going to play some Johny Cash song.
It's sad how much I stopped hating Spin Doctors and Counting Crows once Nickelback and Creed happened. And then emo.
Don't stop the gag
Never bonded with the Topanga as I found it underwhelming/it didn't drip. This one sounds great but...
I've seen ads on CN recently for
Techdecks. As well as
Tamagotchis, and...
SEAMONKEYS! 😲
Everything old is new again
For some reason I wasn't allowed to post that as one comment

2 princes stays or I un-sub.
9:36 Yeah, Volume is generally a good control to have on pedals - except when they gain it so hot that the user can barely achieve unity. 😖
