I love this pedal! And honestly, the boost is my favorite part/what I use this pedal for. Works amazingly well with my 63 Bassman, as it adds a touch of verb, plus a bit of grit at lower volumes! Came for the reverb, stayed for the boost ;)
GOT DAMN that is the best sounding spring reverb emulator I’ve heard in my life. I bought the strymon flint expecting a brilliant fender spring sound and it doesn’t do the splash/surf sound nearly as well as this thing. The trem on the flint sounds great and the other verbs sound wonderful, but the spring mode was the most important factor. I also have the Keeley Caverns and it’s spring mode doesn’t do the surf splash. Perhaps it’s that the pedals I own are emulating amp reverb where this emulates the reverb tank? Regardless, these guys make the amazing products. I own the Echorec, Belle Epoch, Naga Viper and have an F55 on the way. This will be my next purchase!
Really got to try one of these units out! Been looking forever for a pedal that can replicate the sound and feel of my 63 Fender reverb tank and save me the trouble of dragging it around. Touch sensitivity is a big factor in what makes the real thing so hard to duplicate. Really like what I've heard and read about this pedal, so far.
I own the Topanga and just bought a Fuzzrite (really looking forward to that!), but still *missing the ploppy drip which an ultimate surf pedal would have*. The Topanga is the best-sounding guitar reverb I've found, which I never turn off from surf to jazz, but it doesn't drip. I picked up a Polara, which drips, but it just wasn't voiced for guitar so I sent it back. No magic there. I guess the point is, a lot of us are hoping for a second edition of the Topanga which will drip. I'm also running 9volts and the dwell clips, so I just ordered an 18v supply to see if that helps. The good dirt is great, but clipping is not. Thanks for making the best guitar reverb out there!
Agreed on all counts. I’ve used the Topanga for a few years, but finally moved to a SurfyBear Metal. It’s everything you could want. And more drip than a leaky faucet.
I actually like the lack of drip here. it's one of those weird things, yeah, I get the whole idea is to emulate a spring reverb but I like the reverb trails more than the drips usually. you associate the drip with surf guitar but it's fine to not have it when you're using it for rock stuff.
only with single coil? i have one and put it in front of the Marshall afd, #34 mode and play since i've been loving you... amazing tone... im waiting for my talisman pedal, to try the pedal. play with humbuckers 57, paf...! dont have much vídeos! i have a RAh pedal and the talisman Will be my 3 catalinbread. im from Brazil, became a fan of catalinbread and the dynamics of the picking in the pedals! congratulations!!!
Hey Howard, another great video/Demo! I also like your collection of props...What’s the toy figure behind you on your left, next to the album...Thanks!
Last is good and you can use the Volume control as a master volume for your pedalboard. Or do what I did in this video and place it before an amp-in-the-box overdrive to get the sound of an outboard reverb plugged into an amp 👍.
Just your luck, Spencer Cox!! If you get a Woody Topanga or Silicon Karma Suture we'll send you a free t-shirt! Check our blog for instructions. catalinbread.com/2016/10/13/we-got-wood-for-you/

Sweetness. Just picked up the Topanga, need that 5F6!

try hitting the reverb with a slap back delay, might bring you closer to the drip. peace
Simon Gordes I agree.
Have you tried the Adineko?

Howard, if you don't release an album soon I may start weeping.
The Topanga is the best spring reverb I've heard. If you want the drip sound then pair it up with some slapback from a delay pedal.
That's a MASSIVE sound!
This was great! But I have a request: Do you think you could do a fun stacks/tips video for the Formula 5F6 with the pedal in secret lead mode?

I found the topanga works particularly well into a dirty amp vs other reverb pedals
Is his vocal mic also running through the topanga?
Why does my pedal seem like I’ve never activated there’s a huge volume drop compared to my other reverbs

Every thing your looking for or like Catalinbread has
What's the name of the song played at the intro?
Great playing! What amp were you using?
Princeton Reverb! Thanks for your comment!
Catalinbread Effects would this sound good with a blackface dual showman with Jensen C12N speakers ?
I love my Topanga. Where do you suggest putting it in the chain? I have typically put it last on my board.

always last for verb is standard but not law
@@nuclearguitarfare4653not for outboard reverb, though.
Where would a person procure such a wood finish version?

Without reverb it sounds like Joe Walsh, which is awesome.
Yep, Andy playing James Gang on the 5F6 is what convinced me to get its little brother the Formula 55...
