Nice video, wish there was more explanation as to why it's finished with k2 tog twice?- the instructions I have are quite different and I wonder what the different techniques achieve - ie, lifting the 2nd stitch, rather than KFB on 1st, and the purl for first rather than Knit. Also
Great question! The two k2togs (and then the subsequent single k2tog on those two stitches) function to decrease away the remaining i-cord stitches. Once you've gotten rid of these, you're left with just the stitches you cast on! The difference with the knits and purls and method of increase is likely because our method sets you up with a wrong side row, where other methods may create a right side row. There are all sorts of variations on this technique! If the pattern you're working from suggests another one, I'd recommend giving that a try first though, since the designer likely had a reason for recommending it. But I hope our video helps you better visualize the process regardless!
My first 4 stitches are really tall, I tried to make sure I was tightening these stitches at the very beginning but they seem to have grown. A very easy video to follow. Thanks!
@@PurlSoho yes I did use long-tail and made sure to keep tension very tight but still that first knit row after finishing the icord cast on doesn't look good...stitches are too long. I even tried twisting those stitches as I knit them and that didn't work either. I'm about ready to take this all apart and try just knitting an icord and going from there.
@@denisenico2889 Oh no! We'd be happy to take a look at your work to see if we can troubleshoot more. Just send a photo to customerservice@purlsoho.com so we can visualize what's going on!
This is awesome. If I am knitting a stockinette stitch baby blanket and want to continue an I cord finish on each end (knit as I go) should I skip the k2tog and carry those stitches for the edge? And what to do on the other end? Thanks, this was super helpful.
Hi Sandra! That's a great idea! We would recommend adding six stitches to your ideal blanketcast on (as you'll want three stitches to work on either end.) It may be tricky, but if you knit a garter stripe blanket with three stitches on either end, it's possible you could achieve a clean border! Try it on a swatch and let us know if you run into any issues - good luck!
Yes please. I'm just starting the Faceted Yoked Pullover and am ready to start in the round. Would love to see exactly how to do it including the grafting.
Great suggestion! Your feedback helps us to decide what videos to make in the future! In the meantime you can find lots of other tutorials on our website... www.purlsoho.com/create/knit/tutorials/ Happy knitting!
Hi Kerry! In this video, we're using straight needles, which makes it impossible to slide them to the other end. If you're using double pointed needles or circular needles, that would work though.
Hello! We do not demonstrate using scrap yarn for a provisional cast-on in this video, but if that's what you're doing, then you can begin using your project yarn once you being knitting the stitches you cast on provisionally.
Verypink knits in RUclips, is the best tutorial I seen and a lot easier !!!
Thank you perfect video for me to watch
This was fantastic!!! Please do a wrap and turn video!!!

Hi Denise! Are you using a long-tail cast-on? We find that this method of casting-on makes it easier to control tension in the first few rows!

Great! Think I got it now. Thank you so much.
Awesome. I’ve seen another, far more complicated, method. This one is better.
Kindly do video on round too pls
Goodmorning Beautyful I agree! Would love to see the provisional cast on and grafting the ends together parts!

I would love to see the join on the round using this I cord method

Happy knitting!
Why slip the stitches back to the left needle instead of just sliding all of them to the right end of the right needle that they are already on?

I may have missed the part where one transitions from the provisional cast on for the I-Cord to the use of the intended yarn for the entire project.

Can you do a video on your pom pom maker please, I don't understand the rings.
Thanks for writing in, Barb. While we don't yet have a video, we do have a set of instructions here: www.purlsoho.com/create/pom-pom-tutorial/ Thanks!
Too difficult to see and understand 🤷♀️
Needs bigger needles
