    먼저 vs. 첫 vs. 처음 vs. 일
    They all mean or can mean "first"...how are they used?

    • @pallavishrotriya230
      @pallavishrotriya230 4 года назад +8

      1. 먼저 is used when something is happening first. For example, "먼저 갈께요..." Which means "I'll leave first." So it is an action which is happening first.
      2. 첫 is used when something is ranked first. For example "first love" : "첫 사랑"
      3. "처음" is used when something is happening for the "first time". For example "처음 만나다" means "meet for the first time." "처음부터" Means "from the first time."
      4. 일 is a number. It means ONE. If I say 일번 then it would mean "Number 1". By itself it is just "one"

      shes right. Also think of 처음 as "the first time "한국에 처음 왔을 때 정말 행복했어요." "When I first came to Korea I was so happy" "내 첫 여자친구는 아름다웠어요." "My first girl friend was beautiful"
      So 첫 is prefix while 먼저 means like First or before hand. "우리 집에 올 수 있어요?" "네 갈 수 있지만 먼저 샤워 해야 해요." "Are you able to come to my hosue?" " Yeah I can go , but I need to shower first."
      She pretty much explained it perfect. Probably better than I could.

    Wow thanks for explaining this, I loved the last example with 벌써 , 너 ending, and 네 ending three different hints of surprise in each sentence. It is amazing to find where English loses it precision by discovery of words like these.

    I'm curious about the second example. So if you are late to a movie showing, you are not allowed in to the theater?

    • @minjiteacheskorean
      @minjiteacheskorean  5 лет назад +2

      Yes the pronunciation is [어떠캐] so you heard correctly!
      And actually it's just an example situation :) I've never been late that long but as far as I know, you can get in to the theater until right before the movie is finished!

    • @minjiteacheskorean
      @minjiteacheskorean  2 года назад

      마리 is an animal counter! It's an unit you'll need when you count the number of animals.
      e.g. 고양이 세 마리 = Three cats

      What errors in Korean are you referring to? I didn't hear anything wrong with the Korean at those times.
      At 0:59 I noticed a small English mistake. You said "both OF 벌써 and 이미" which should have been "both 벌써 and 이미" instead.
      The thing I did find a bit confusing was one time (starting around 3:37) you said "negative" but "native" was written.
      I also noticed you said "split water & split milk" instead of "spilt water & spilt milk" several times.
      Anyways, thanks for the video. 민지 씨 고마워요.
